Backup QB (Merged)

Watching Tebow throw behind and at WRs feet is not fun :(

He threw pretty well in the preseason. Much more accurate than he was in DEN or NY

Tyrod could go somewhere.. he would be a good backup for a team that likes to run the read option like Seattle, Washington, Carolina, or SF. No one in their right mind would consider starting him.

This seems like a silly comment now.

We need a back up QB, not a back up FB. I would actually stop watching our games if we sign and played Tebow. I really can't stand that guy.

I like that. I'm a fan of Glennon, and think TB was stupid in it's handling of him. Bring him aboard!!

I'd love to bring Glennon in. Grew up with his older brother and sister. His older brother Sean was a pretty good QB for Virginia Tech.

He showed a lot of promise in his limited time. Plus he's got a similar build and play style to Flacco. As far as realistic options with the upside to win a few games if necessary, I can't think of any much better.

Plus if he was called on and shows well it could be a very good investment in then being able to flip him to a QB needy team later for a higher draft pick than we give up to get him.

My only worry is that a team looking for a starter would be willing to give up more to bring him in to compete. Among the young QBs with starter potential/experience he's among the best options likely available.

What even happened to Matt Schaub? It's like he was putting up a ton of numbers, and Houston was a SB favorite at one point in 2012..then he fell apart mid season and never recovered. I've never heard anyone explain it.

I hate that people make fun of Tebow, He's religious....I personally am not, but I don't judge anyone for it, he doesn't get arrested, or KO his wife or anything that some of these guys do.

I watched all of the Eagles pre season games, I'll say this. I thought they should have kept him over Sanchez.

Tebow isn't a great qb, but he is also smart, takes care of the ball and takes what the defense gives him. That's why he beat the Steelers In the playoffs a few years ago.

He beat the Steelers cause the safety that was backing up Ryan Clark (he can't play in Denver) blew the coverage. I make fun of Tebow because he's a bad QB. I don't see why he gets a free pass by so many people yet people despite not being very good. I'm not saying you're giving him a free pass but its common. I would never ever pick him over Schaub and I don't like him either.

Obviously, we're not going into the game with Sam Koch as the backup.

Who's your guess on who they'll sign for the position?  I read they

already had a few guys in mind and there wasn't going to be a try-out.

If I had to guess, I would say its going to be Renner.

Oh no id never pick him over Schaub either. Im also not giving him a free pass..I said he's not a great quarterback.

I do think that teams would be more willing to give him the opportunity to develop if the hype machine would die down a little bit. The circus that follows him and all of the attention has got to be a huge distraction.

Jimmy Clausen was just claimed off waivers by the Ravens. I don’t know enough about him to feel one way or another.

He's horrendous. Would rather have Sam Koch throwing the football.

Wiki "During the game TV cameras caught wide receiver Steve Smith walking over to Clausen, who was talking with an assistant coach, and screaming at the rookie. Smith walked away, but returned and said something else before being escorted away by tight end Jeff King. At that point, Smith threw down a cup of Gatorade. The incident was later downplayed by Smith.[39] It was the second time there had been communication issues between Smith and Clausen. On May 6, 2010, a report on the website "Pro Football Talk" stated that, "Steve Smith 'basically thinks Jimmy is a punk.'"

Why 2nd?? Man what’s up with you?

nothing is up with me lol, if this roster, completely devoid of talent cant muster up more than 3 wins in 10 weeks with flacco leading the charge, nobody can rightfully expect schaub to do any better.

were gonna lose out, this team does not have the horses, as ive said all year. all we had going for us was flacco and the TEs, without flacco the TEs practically become a non factor as well, this team offers basically nothing.

There are like 50 bad QBs in the NFL let alone college. I think what people like him and I don't understand is why it has to be pointed out that he's a bad QB so often.

When a team signs Case Keenum for example, there aren't a million people pointing out how bad he is.

And it can't be denied, that as bad as Tebow may be as a thrower of the football - and I say thrower for a reason, because while throwing is a main function of the QB it's not the only thing he's responsible for - the guy has had success in the NFL... Has made many big plays in big situations... And done a lot more than even several starters currently in the league.

A QBs job is to run the offense, move the ball and score points to win games. The guys sucks at throwing the ball, but when necessary he can move the ball, lead a team and win.

And, to your point on him not beating the Steelers and Ryan Clark losing - he still had to make the throw. And he had to play an entire game to get to overtime. He did do that and you can't take it away from him.

Not to mention all the 4th quarter comebacks to get to the playoffs.

Trust me I'm not a Tebow fanboy. I just don't understand why it's gotta be one extreme or the other. He's not great but he's not the worst QB of all time either. He is a proven winner, and to me that counts more than throwing a pretty ball. We've seen a ton of QBs that can throw the heck out of the ball but can't take their team to the playoffs and win a game.

Obviously, he does something right. You can't explain it, it doesn't really show up on tape, and it may be ugly a majority of the time... But in a tie game, 4th quarter with the ball and 2 minutes left - there aren't many guys with a better track record than Tebow, and that's supposed to be the measuring stick that separates the elite from the good.

We use that as a way to sometimes excuse Flaccos inconsistencies but Tebows accomplishments in that situation get ignored because he can't throw like a traditional QB. Seems silly to me.

Haha I think his what's up with you had more to do with you saying 2nd overall and not 1st overall pick.

Not questioning how you arrived at a very high pick - I think we all can agree that's a foregone conclusion at this sad point in time.

Reports that the Broncos also put a claim in on Clausen, but we obviously have priority.

We also tried to sign David Fales from the Bears' PS, but they opted to promote him, which led to Clausen being cut.
