are you sure it is guaranteed? If you have evidence, either way, post it and use that. If not, use what spotrac says. Is what I'd suggest anyway

Both Overthecap and Rotoworld says that contract details show $3M of his third year base salary is guaranteed, which is 2015.

Everything I've read I thought said he was a UFA... but even Overthecap has him at like a $9.7M bonus with no salary, so I think they're both wrong.

while not a reliable source there is a figure there for a post June 1st cut. You could use that to work out a pre June 1st cut and see which site is correct

your doing yourself out of savings here lol. Unfortunately I'd say you'd have to have that guaranteed then.

Are we allowed to use post June-1 cuts? I considered it, but it sort of feels like a cop out if you're not going to be managing the same team the following season...

I'm aware... I actually don't want to have to make the decision to keep or cut him, so I'm trying to make my decision easier by using the right data.

k, had to look it up, Suh is definately opting out of his contract but will still make 3.5 in guaranteed money from the Lions.

no, but I thought it would help you to work out the pre June 1st figure and see if it agreed to either spotrac or Overthecap to support their figures.

I don't think he implied we can do post-June 1st cuts. I think he's saying you could use the post June 1st cut to figure out a pre-June 1st cut amount.

So that would be in addition to any tag or re-signing he would get with the Lions?

can you send me in the direction of where you got this info from? basically then 3.5 of the 13.5 is guaranteed. So Id save 10 mil, but he'd be a UFA?

isn't Brandon Marshall's base salary guaranteed this year? meaning if he's cut it counts as dead money?Does that account for your difference?

According to Rotoworld, seems it is:

5/19/2014: Signed a four-year, $39.3 million contract. The deal contains $22.3 million guaranteed -- a $7.5 million signing bonus and each of Marshall's first two base salaries.

that's sucks but that's how I took it as well. He is on spotrac at 13.5 currently.

Right, that's where the article got the $6.9M cap savings from... its the difference in the $9.85M base salary he has for this season and the $3M of it that is guaranteed.

Spotrac doesn't account for this... they treat the entire base salary as non guaranteed.

yea so spotrac is right. I actually knew this from someone, maybe jacket, in the mains explaining why the bears couldn't cut him

well that's three sources saying his salary is guaranteed. So take it as that instead of what spotrac have.

There is a rules thread guys...

"Special Cut/Trade Rule

Each team is allowed to make ONE CUT or TRADE in which the base salary only is factored and you can ignore the dead money. For example, cutting Eugene Monroe would ADD cap due to dead money. Using this, his 5.5 star Base Salary is the cap savings instead of negative 7.5 stars in savings. Using this rule you can ignore the Dead Money and still cut him for the 5.5 stars."

This is considered a Post June 1st cut, you can only make 1 for the game as it is a bit of a cop out but it is there.

totally forgot about that ha

Emery was a terrible GM.

See Ireland, Jeff.

You guys literally may be an awe of how much cap space I might create by cutting some pretty awful football players. In looking at their roster, its one of the few times I think some people on these boards could run a team better from a talent evaluation perspective...

do you not think we should have this option?

I'm fine with it... just unexpected due to the nature of me not reading all the rules.

Definitely changes things for my strategy potentially...

Yeah, makes sense, that's why Overthecap has him at a $9.7M hit with no cap savings, so basically the same thing netted together.

so to confirm. Spotrac have him ar 13.5. That should actually be 9.7 of dead money And he is a UFA? So all in all, I save 3.5 stars and suh isn't on my roster?

Yeah. Seems like a really raw deal to me. I can't believe someone negotiated that as a contract. I know the old rookie contracts were bad, but wow.

he needs fired. Who the hell agrees to pay a guy 10 mil the year he isn't even contracted to be on your roster? Ridiculous.

Sounds like the kind of "oh [profanity deleted] my job won't last long so I need to buy myself a year or two" mentality that got Jeff Fireland to overpay half the FA market on insanely backloaded deals a couple of years ago.
