Is it possible you could do the cap check at the start to get everyone right?

I believe Andrew is taking care of that this year.

Only an hour and some minutes left before RMC is skipped.

Actually since codizzle was skipped, we just passed the skip time

So, just to clarify, we are 100% using Spotrac as the source for salary cap information correct?

Because there are some significant differences I've noticed in the past between Spotrac and Overthecap (and one in particular that would greatly benefit me to use Spotrac for the Dolphins), and in almost every occassion I've seen, Spotrac has been wrong.

Just want to make sure I'm aware of which source we are supposed to use.

Spotrac is the site we are using. We have found that to be better and more user friendly.

What do we do if we find the error on Spotrac that doesn't get corrected in time? Example: Brandon Marshall dead cap.

Yeah, that's sort of what I'm wondering.

For example, on my team (Dolphins), there's a $3M difference in dead money between the two sites, because Spotrac doesn't recognize that $3M of his base salary for 2015 is guaranteed.

Again, I'm fine with using Spotrac (particularly when it benefits me in this case), but what if they update during or after I'm made decisions?

We pick a date and anything after doesn't affect your team. So, let's say the Dolphins got an extension done with Tannehill in March. It wouldn't affect your cap at all

B. Marshall's dead cap is $15mil on Spotrac for 2015 but it should be around $5mil. In real world, I make roughly $4 mil in savings if I cut him but I can't because of bad data.

That's something for others to comment on. I'm saying past a certain date it won't matter what happens, but if there's an error like that, it should be excused

Think we are leaning more toward Spotrac being a guideline but not the standard. Leaves a little grey area but if all can come to an agreement than I'm for it.

And I agree to that. I'm not saying we shouldn't use Spotrac because they're wrong all the time... there's typically very little if any differences between them and a site like Overthecap.

If there's a difference with a rookie making $500K, then nobody cares. But, as he stated above, if there's a significant difference on a big time player (on the Dolphins I drafted there is), it certainly has the potential to alter strategies greatly. And I think it would be a shame to do that knowing that the real life application isn't remotely the same.

isn't Brandon Marshall's base salary guaranteed this year? meaning if he's cut it counts as dead money?Does that account for your difference?

I'd be of the line of thinking any transactions that happen after the cut of date are ignored but correction of errors have to be included

Now I have the lions, for some reason suh is included in the salary cap with a cap hit of 13 mil even though he is a free agent. Could anyone explain why? And if not does that mean I have an extra 13 mil of cap room

Yea, it actually doesn't benefit me and the Panthers lol, Spotrac saves me 12.5 million but like I said before I'm willing to compromise if everyone else is. Gonna have to be accepting of the gray area.

Because he's under player option this year I think. He decides if he stays or leaves this year, if he stays that will be his contract.

ok so if he stays I get him at 13 and he decides to go I'd deduct 13 from my cap and then have to tag him or let him hit free agency?

Well if he hasn't made his decision by our cut of date what happens? Is it my decision wether I keep him or not?

Yes, Overthecap doesn't have his base salary as guaranteed, where Spotrac does.

Spotrac cut = -$3.55M cap space saved

Overthecap cut = $3.95M cap space saved

Difference is $7.5M between the two sites... obviously significant. I think Spotrac is actually right though on this one.

I referenced Mike Wallace, because Spotrac doesn't give him credit for having $3M of his base salary guaranteed this season, so there's a $3M difference in cap savings from a release.

are you sure it is guaranteed? If you have evidence, either way, post it and use that. If not, use what spotrac says. Is what I'd suggest anyway

Everything I've read I thought said he was a UFA... but even Overthecap has him at like a $9.7M bonus with no salary, so I think they're both wrong.
