When will this begin? I didn't see a start date.

We'll pick teams once everyone is signed up and get everything cracking soon after the Super Bowl.

Random order again to pick teams?

There are only a few minor changes from last year.

I think that pushes the game back way too far.  We'd have over a month of downtime since we'll be starting early February.

Do we have to start ASAP? I mean I was thinking more of we get everyone signed up, then once we pick the teams we allow everyone time to research the team, the needs, free agent list, etc. Plus we can't start until the NFL officially announces franchise tag numbers. Nobody will know how to truly handle free agency until they know the cost of the tag.

Then mid to end Feb we can officially begin the game. Plus the draft isn't until end of April early May. What's the hurry?

I'll defer to the rest of the coco, but there's really no telling how long this game will take. Afterwards, we do the draft a franchise. We barely finished before preseason last year, and I know that was the "deadline" set forth by the higher powers.

By time teams are selected and we get everything rolling, it'll likely be mid-February before we start anyways. I believe last year there was a week or two to get team affairs in order before trades opened up. Free agency followed after that.

I do not think we are rushing things. It probably will take a week or so until every one participating has picked a team.

After that we will worry about the rest. When are Franchise tag numbers announced and so on.

When all information we need is available we will start. The timetable will take care of its self.

We never rushed things in the past. Therefor I doubt we will do it this time.

ON the other side taking too much time between now and picking teams/starting it it will make people forget. Just moving along steadily and we will be fine.

I have to admit I am excited to discover which team I will draw this year from my point of view the picking could start immediately

Given that we've barely made the deadline of finishing the DaF last year, I personally don't see a point in waiting. I do expect for it to be slightly faster since we've shorted the allotted time for draft selections. But I would still prefer to maximize our time since we can't predict the length of each process. We're still almost two weeks away from even being able to begin, so I don't feel that we're rushing.

Fancy seeing you here.  Disappeared and reappeared just in time for the game.

I had a suggestion turned down last year when I was trying to trade for a player but did not have enough cap space to actually afford it.

I suggested - as the other owner had more than enough cap - that they could keep some of the players "stars" in order for me to afford the certain player. I know that this is possible in other sports but do not know about that in the NFL.

As we were heading to the end of last years Mock Offseason the CoCo suggested to postpone the decision about that matter to this year. Do you guys want to give that one a go or are we ok with how we have dealt with trades for the last couple of years?

I'm still not in favor.  I know one reason we shot it down last year is because it would essentially be a restructure for the player.  The player would have to give consent for his contract to be altered and we can't really factor that into a game like this.

Tough one IMO on one side we are not allowed to restructure any contracts, which is the right thing because we do not have a parameter after which we would operate.

On the other side picking up salary/stars in a trade to make the trade more interesting for suitors seems like a good idea to help on the "restructuring" part. But in the NFL that is not possible as far as I know. For that reason I would be against it.

Really tough one, I can see both arguments for and against it

It's tough, but at the end of the day, I think it adds a complicated wrinkle to a game where simplicity is key.

I took a sabbatical. But no, I wrote a short back story in a PM that I initially thought was our Commissioner PM. I actually planned on returning a few weeks from now but my schedule cleared up so I'm lucky to have made it in time. Very happy to see you on the board of decision makers. You were my top recommendation after last season.

It does affect all of us if you're not around, so be sure that you're able to put in the time commitment this would need.

Good point as this process does take months of continuous commitment.

Trust me. If I have the time I will be committed.

I don't mean to pry, but I am to assume that you currently don't know whether you will have the time? If so, when will you know for sure?
