"DeflateGate" Update: Suspension Upheld! Brady Accepts 4 Game Ban.

2,478 posts in this topic

The team has put in motion a proposal that will change their name to the New England Gates. It just makes too much sense not to, according to those in charge.

The proposal has caused an uproar in the Boston area, with critics calling the scandal GateGate.

I don't actually think much of this, but it's kinda fun to pile onto the Patriots right now.

With something like 7:12 in the fourth left, the Patriots faced a 3rd and 12. The ball was spotted and the clock for delay of game (name escapes me) begins to run from 25. It reached about 12 and Tom Brady looks up and pumps one hand in the air. The clock then reached 10 seconds before being reset to 25.

I wonder if they ever get delay of game.... DelayGate

Well how apropos that on the eve of the divisional game btw the Patriots and the Bills, Rex more specifically, ESPN is reporting that McNally and Jastremski are to be reinstated within the next 24 to 48hrs!

ESPN illustrated by chart how effective Rex has been at containing "that arrogant cheating lying QB from the North".

Think this is a coincidence?  I think not, anyone would have to be deaf, blind or ignorant not to see that the "Patriot Way" is rolling on course and on schedule with their shenanigan crap yet again!

Is it just me or does it appear that the NFL is going out of their way to pander to the Patriots so far this season?  This is just disgusting and vomit-inducing.

I will be pulling so hard for Tyrod, Rex and the Bills to beat the snot out of these, ughhh, I can't EVEN call them what they truly are!!!

Are you suggesting the Patriots may try to do more funny business with the football? I'd certainly be surprised if they were bold enough to under inflate the football after this recent scandal whether or not they're guilty. That would be very dumb.

Watch the play clock and Tom giving a signal.

Interesting. Tbh I've always wondered if there was clock manipulation on Cundiffs whiff in the playoffs. Everything just seemed too rushed.

Watch the play clock and Tom giving a signal.

You first can clearly see the clock at 31 seconds as well meaning they used the 40 second clock here, interesting

Scoreboard manipulation. Said it was 3rd down when it was 4th. Cundiff had to rush onto the field.

Can't find the rule but I read somewhere the ref or QB is able to request a reset when the play clock is less than 25 seconds before the ball is set

I think it is just very interesting that McNally and Jastremski are reinstated right before their first divisional game with the Bills. It would have been really dumb for the Patriots to have tried to tamper with the communications in light of everything they have been through with Deflategate.  But it appears that something was amiss with the communications that can't be easily explained away. Either that was a really dumb desperate move or a brilliant one.  Who would have the nerve to attempt another sabotage right after an investigation?  Some might say it would be easier to get away with something right after an investigation because surely no one would be that bold, right?   At this point, I wouldn't put anything past the Patriots and their "Patriot Way".

It seems like the NFL is going out of their way to appease the Patriots for some reason.   After the stuff with the headsets from the Steelers game...first Tomlin was going to file a report, then all of a sudden that changed when Belicheck said "its just not right" that his team is always being accused of cheating and he was tired of it, then the NFL comes out with a statement to exonerate the Pats and Tomlin changes his mind on filing a report.  It just seems like the Patriots always seem to get their way despite their history of cheating and serial rule stretching episodes.

Now this with the reinstatement of McNally and Jastremski.  If Belicheck is so fed up with being accused of cheating why even bother bringing McNally and Jastremski back at all this season?  Surely he knows that this will only lead to more speculation.  I think he prefers it that way as it fits into his "getting into the head of the opposition" game.  I would doubt that they would seriously attempt to deflate footballs this early, but who knows.  They will have to justify that fumble rate data at some point, lol.   But with Rex typically giving Brady and the Patriots all they can handle, and with the Patriots facing a new QB that they basically have no film on, and it being a divisional game... I wouldn't be surprised to see some more rulebook stretching, as it fits into their win at all cost "Patriot Way" philosophy.

The video doesn't show if he had the full 40 seconds.

At least one of the six I found showed he did.

Hmmm...

Blaming the Patriots for stuff is getting old. But it seems like they just keep doing stuff. Whatever. They're so far in the red this has no impact on my opinion of the team regardless of why he got more time.

Watch the play clock and Tom giving a signal.

I've seen players and coaches do that before. I don't think it's duplicitous, just a 'universal' symbol to reset the play clock. Same way brushing your stomach tells the ref you're an eligible receiver. The Patriots haven't earned the benefit of the doubt but this instance is harmless, imo.

Have any of you seen or read the latest investigation into the Patriots, conducted by "Outside the Lines"?  It's in the latest issue of ESPN the Magazine, and it is quite an eye-opener.

This article makes me wonder just how much of these nefarious actions have taken place involing the Pats.

This article also gets me to fuming at the league, and the side from New England with a fury.

We could get a little closer to Br*dy serving his suspension. The NFL filed an appeal brief saying that he participated in a scheme to deflate game balls".

“The scheme was aimed at gaining an unfair competitive advantage on the field,” the NFL contends, “and it was devised to avoid detection by game officials. It struck at the heart of the game’s integrity and the public’s confidence in the NFL’s on-field product.”

Just like I predicted. Will have zero impact on this season.
