"DeflateGate" Update: Suspension Upheld! Brady Accepts 4 Game Ban.

I am pretty sure its not the first time someone uses deflated balls...and if tge playoff refs forget or dont care about the procedure of checking the balls before a game its their fault as well...When a LB is the one who notices that the Balls are deflated, what does that say about the Refs who touch the Ball every single play? lets be honest...a lot of people did a lot of mistakes so that could happen...

Well firstly the nfl is stupid in the first place for not just having both teams share one set. Secondly supposeably the balls were checked at halftime when we were 17-7 up and brady had 1 pick. Assuming the officials had done their jobs and replaced the balls then it actually made the patriots better making this even more confusingly silly. Thirdly not sure why bill would feel the need to do this when it didn't make us play better and we have smashed luck badly every time before the game.

And fourthly I have a bit of a hard time believing that it had any impact on this game not just because of blount, but because brady didn't throw or land any big passes in this game at all. Just a few dink and dunks and average yard gainers, it would be more plausible with the ravens game when he went deep quite a bit.

Richard sherman doesn't care about stuff like this so why should I?

Don't know if this has been stated already, but it was in fact Tom Brady lobbying the NFL that helped change the rules on footballs.  They used to just provide the balls right before game time, but Brady and I believe Peyton convinced them to give them the balls beforehand so they could scuff them up.

The refs didn't forget to check anything. Report is that the officials checked and certified all balls before the game. That means after they were certified, someone took it upon themselves to deflate 11 of the 12 Patriots balls. The Colts balls were untouched as were the 12 alternate balls.

And it's ridiculous to try and lay blame for this on officials. They have 30 things they are checking between the end of one play and the start of another. They are under the assumption that the balls are within regulation because they just certified them a couple hours beforehand.

Trying to blame officials for the Patriots cheating is like blaming the police for the act of a robbery because they weren't there to stop the robbers. Regardless of anyone else involved, the act of cheating is on the perpetrator(s).

Maybe Tom is such an amazing quarter back that he threw the ball with such velocity that the air leaked out by sheer inertia.

:-) :-P

Kickers use a whole different batch of balls...the ones with the K on them.

I heard also that the 12th ball was for the kicker. They must have one on the sideline for when they are practicing into the net right since the K balls aren't in their possession?

Didn't know that, that's disappointing on bradys part.

I also read reports that they didn´t check the balls properly and they didn´t mark the balls as checked. Also more and more Players admit that they use/used to deflate/inflate balls because of what they prefer. If the Pats did deflate the Balls after the Refs checked the balls, they should be punished (whatever punishment, Draft Picks, Suspensions, Money...), but if the Refs did do a mistake it´s their fault as well. I am pretty sure the Pats are not the first team to play with deflated balls, they are just the ones who get blamed for it now. Their has to happen something within the rules and the Pats organisation, but now only blaming them is wrong as long as we do not know how that happened.

Your girl Brady was the one who lobbied the NFL to bring his own balls, Giselle approved I guess..

I am not sure about Bill's press conference. He sounded somewhat convincing then reverted back to acting like a jerk with the media. You can't act like that if you are going to take questions, because then you DO look shady. If you are going to have a humble speech, then answer the questions in a humble manner. I am interested in Tom's press conference tomorrow, because Bill did not come out and say he believed Tom was not somehow involved. I thought that was a little strange. I know one thing, this is getting ugly and I hope the Ravens are done with these kinds of firestorms forever!

I saw a rumor on Twitter that was going around some NFL people at the Senior Bowl that the Pats would lose a 2nd round pick.

I'll be alright with a second but they need to suspend Bill and Brady for a year. Even the way Brady is defending it makes him sound guilty. Then in 2015, McDaniels and the guy they took in the second last year can run the team.

Not taking Bill's or the Patriot's side, but Belicheat for once went into detail on what he knew then and what he knows now. Was he sincere and honest? I hope so.

But when you lay every possible thing that you knew and then the media asks you redundant questions, I think he gave the appropriate answer to most of the questions.

EDIT: Tom Brady is full of baloney. After listening to both press conferences, I feel like they are hiding something. Multiple times Tom had to cut himself short because he was about to say something he didnt want to share. Especially when he accidentally brought up his agent. He started get a smirk on his face when he said that.

Belicheck, "Growl, snarl, growl, growl, snarl, hedge, hedge, snarl."

Brady, "Blah, blah, blah, blah, if that's what the Colts want to do, snarkety-snark, blah, blah, blah, blah."

I think a suspension of 6 games. That and a draft pick.

If Sean Payton gets a full year suspension for 'allowing'(which he denied) defense to be overtly aggressive, then Brady/Bill should get at least half of what Sean was punished for.

I Dont buy one bit Brady 'did not feel any difference' on the ball while Ravens player and Colts LB can tell the ball was deflated.

That's the insane part.

They replaced the balls at half time. After half time all the balls were with in regulation and Tom STILL tore it up.

So why bother? Why take such a chance? The risk vs. reward on that is WAY out of wack.

Aftet spy-gate, Mr. Kraft asked Billicheck this.

"On a scale of one to one hunderd, how much did this help you? "

Billicheck responded " maybe a one "

Mr. Kraft said " you are an idiot "

I understand "every little bit counts" but the risk vs. reward on this is just not worth it.

because its a routine thing they do. doubt they would do this in the championship game without the confidence of doing it successfully before.  its also hard to catch them since the balls messed with are the ones the pats offense handles. fortunately, they have finally been caught.

I heard today that the 12th ball was actually under inflated, just not as much as the rest.

They should call this mediagate because of all the stupid questions they have been asking. More worrying in the past few days the king of saudi arabia has died and a corrupt new york senator has been arrested for corruption charges, and yet on all big news outlets this is the main story still. Baffling, the whole thing is baffling. Talk about making mount everest out of a molehill I hate the media.

This is a misrepresentation of what players have said. It started with Aaron Rodgers and spreads.  What Rodgers and others said is they like the balls a certain way. Rodgers elaborated that he would over-inflate the balls. The part people are ignoring is he went on to say that it annoyed him when the refs would deflate them to lower pressure and give them back.

Rodgers , and the rest, didn't say that he would then take those now properly inflated and certified balls and pump them back up.  Preference is one thing ... tampering with the balls is an entirely different thing. Stop mixing up the two as if they're the same.

I agree, media sources tend to have terrible priorities. And they are continuously repeating the same info on the subject. It really is terrible timing for this to come out though, honestly I'd expect nothing less.

You are wrong. He said if they deflated them fine...but they always didn't. Looks like the same for the Patriots just the other way around. It looking more and more like refs were pretty lax with this around the league. I believe the witch hunt is over. The Patriots may even get an apology from the NFL.

Rodgers never said that. Show the folks what you are talking about.

I am just so livid with this team and the ways they cheat their way into big games. I especially hate it more when I feel like the same deflate gate tactic may have been used against us as well. There is simply no logic to them not using it against us, ecept we were the better team than the Colts.

There is simply no precedence for a team that cheats like this in various different ways and gets away with it. It starts up top with Kraft okay with Belichik's devious tactics to gain every unfair advantage they can and Brady in step with his HC all the way. It is almost like these two spend hours locked up to figure out ways to screw other teams any way they can, except by fair means.

I don't know how far this extends and how deeply entrenched these guys are in schemes like this, but now I can't simply trust any of their victories as being untainted. The NFL hasn't still interviewed Brady on the scandal - how irresponsible is that?? With the SB looming, don't they want to put this matter to bed?

People around the league keep saying there needs to be a rematch with the Colts. I say why just the Colts? The fair thing to do would be to let the Colts and Ravens play the AFCC game by disqualifying the Patriots from this year's tournament. That would be the fairest outcome.

Obviously, we know that is never going to happen - so how does the league deal with such behavior? I say they need to penalize them so severely, that no other team should ever attempt cheating and continue to uphold the integrity of the game. The penalty should be far more severe than what was meted out to the Saints a couple of years ago surely. In fact, I say Goodell must vacate their victories and past SB victories as well much like was done with Penn State by the NCAA!

Man, I still hate the Steelers with a passion unknown to mankind, but I respect them. With this team, I just despise them as I think they are beneath contempt.

It is going to come down to proof of wrong doing. If the league can't really pin anything definitive on them, then there will be no consequences and they'll just go on attempting to win at any cost. The rest of the fans of the league will hate them and view their accomplishments as tainted. The Pats don't care. Their fans don't care. They will just say it is all an attempt to smear them out of jealousy because of their success.

I must say that I find the article written by the Globe prior to our game, about how 95% of America would be root for them and against us because we are "the most despicable organization in the NFL to be flat out laughable.

Despite the fact that many view our team as thuggish, the hate for the Pats is stronger than for any other franchise in the league ... and despite what the Pats fans think - it is not all because of their success.

I cannot stand BB and his scheming ways, and I absolutely loathe Brady and his constant whining during games. I'm always overjoyed when he gets roughed up by rushers!

I pray that the Seahawks annihilate and humiliate NE in the Super Bowl, even worse than they did Denver a year ago if that's even possible. I just want to see Brady desperate for non-existent penalties, throwing pick after pick as he desperately tries to take matters into his own hands.

Always respected the Steelers, that is until the Tomlin incident. That was just a total [profanity deleted] move by MT, still the Pats are in a league of their own.

They seem to get away with most anything they do. The best way to shut them up and put a frown on their faces, is to humiliate them on the field on (inter)national television. Baltimore came out swinging and should have torched them, unfortunately we weren't able to finish.
