Oh no.. *smh*

The delusion of patriots fans never ceases to amaze me.

They're a special combination of paranoid, neurotic and delusional. I can't help but laugh. But the better question is why are they hanging out on a Ravens board when their next opponent is the Seahawks?

Looks like Bill Nye isn't the only person who disagrees with the Patriots assertion that the temperature outside is what caused the ball pressure to deflate.

Now Wilson (you know, like, the people that makes the footballs for the NFL) have come out and said that's complete bullcrap.

Patriots fans are the Richard Nixon's of the NFL.

So utterly terrified of their own actions that they continue to attempt to place blame elsewhere and only end up digging themselves a deeper grave.

I love, love, love Marshawn's complete disrespect and refusal to bend to the will of Roger Goodell.

Hope he continues his one-man war against The Man.

I don't love it as much, hope Roger fines him until the velvet ropes around his Lambo are replaced by chain-link around a junker lol

Eh, Lynch is there to play the game.  I don't think anyone should be forced to talk to the media if they don't want to.  You can never force a player to actually elaborate on things that they say during post game pressers, and you can't really force Lynch to say anything more than the same sentence over and over again.  So at that point, why bother?  Just leave him be, let him play the game and stop being a baby about it.

But of course Goodell runs this league with the reins as tight as humanly possible, and he's never going to give in to one of the players that is making him millions and millions of dollars...because why would he?

Oh boy...

Breaking news: sources tell @FOXSports the NFL has zeroed in on a locker room attendant w Patriots who ... http://m.tmi.me/1eXHpm

This just gets better and better.

If the locker room attendant tampered with the footballs ... Yeah, there's no way he was just doing that on his own. #RogueBallBoy

Wonder if the Patriots have in-flight wifi.

Bet it's the first question asked when they step off the plane.

He's there to play the game in large part, yes, but he is also compensated to promote the league. There's language in an NFL contract about media participation - or at least there was in 1992. I know there's a different CBA but I don't think media obligations have been lessened in the last 20 years.

Player will cooperate with the news media, and will participate upon request in reasonable promotional activities of Club and the League.

http://scholarship.law.marquette.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1067&context=sportslaw (page 39)

There's also language in there about conduct detrimental which is his crotch-grabbing but that's a different issue. He's compensated, in part, to promote the league and his team through sports media. Key word is "reasonable", I guess. If he doesn't want to, that's fine, but the NFL is basically deducting what they consider that portion of his earnings from him.

Also language in the 2014 NFL's Media Policy about player availability and not allowing boycotts.

I think the NFL is totally in the right. If you don't want to cooperate in doing a portion of your job, the terms you agreed to, then you'll be punished for it. Especially when Lynch appeal the first fine with the understanding that he'd cooperate more.

But this is not the topic for this discussion, sorry I expounded on it, we can continue it in the Fines/Arrest/Suspension thread.

Found this tweet interesting...

For the Patriots to blame a change in temperature for 15% lower-pressures, requires balls to be inflated with 125-degree air.

The fans on the Patriots forum still seem to think that science is on their side...I'm not particularly sure who they had run the tests, perhaps Sarah Palin?

Pretty much the only thing I've seen that almost corroborates the Pats (and their fans') theories is that YouTube video. And even then, it doesn't explain why the Colts balls remained properly inflated since the supposed PSI drop would have put any ball out of the regulated range.

Personally, I think that YouTube video is a crock.

Eh - the contract stuff forcing them to talk to the media is dumb.  You can't enforce it in any meaningful way, so why bother having it at all?  Does Lynch repeating the same sentence over and over again add anything to the conversation?  Nope.

Its like the Tuck Rule.  Just because its there, doesn't mean its right.

The one where students tested the balls? I question what school that was and out of how many people were the select few that made the video.

Also!

Since 2007, the Patriots fumble only at a rate of once every 187 offensive snaps. This is literally off the charts. It is a statistical outlier right from a statistics textbook. There is no other team even close to being near to their rate of 187 offensive plays (passes+rushes+sacks) per fumble. The league average is 105 plays/fumble.

The odds of such a statistical distribution were calculated at one in 16,233. That’s a comma, not a decimal. Sixteen thousand two hundred and thirty three to one.

Fox Sports Jay Glaser reports video shows Patriots locker room attendant taking balls from refs room to another room for several minutes before reappearing to take balls to field. Who here believes that he acted independently? Am I the only one who thinks the NFL needs to slam on the brakes with this super bowl until we find the truth as having a known cheater win the super bowl will be a disaster for the NFL. In addition, they need to review the same camera footage from the Ravens game to see if Tom Brady's paid crony did the same before that game, affecting the outcome Clearly at this point. The NFL needs to have the colts and Ravens play to see who faces the Seahawks in the real super bowl. In any case, if this is true, absolutely, Bellicheat and Brady need to sit for a year. It is amazing with the info they have already they aren't punishing the Patriots by suspending Brady and Bellicheat before the game.

This situation has gotten much larger than I expected ... I mean its even in the CNN news cycle every 30 mins. I have a unique opinion on this situation, imo. I've grown up in Canada playing football from the time I was 10 till now at 24. I've played in the heat of Summer, and still play (flag football, nonetheless), in the dead of Winter.

Deflated balls absolutely have an advantage in cold weather. When we warm up before a game in cold weather, there is a variety of 'practice' balls. I've thrown and caught balls that were under inflated, and they were easier to catch, by far, its not even debatable. In addition, I have smaller hands, and it's much easier for me to throw an under inflated ball, as opposed to a regulation type football; My hands can sink in to the ball rather than just clutching on to a grip.

Now this advantage is not enough to be the deciding factor in a game, imo. Especially when the Patriots hammered the Colts like they did. So if they are proven, without a doubt, to have been in contravention of the league rules; They absolutely deserve a punishment. Draft pick(s), money ... However, It doesn't 'tarnish' that win over the Colts for me, or any wins past/future.

Wouldn't have changed outcome of Colt's game period. I can make a pretty convincing argument that it didn't really impact our game either.

They should be punished, but don't think suspension for Super Bowl is warranted.

lolz, superbowl won't be suspended or pushed back. They make way too much money from it, it will go on as planned and then after its over , the nfl will hammer the patriots.

Tommy boy and billy will retire into the sunset with another superbowl ring.

I don't agree with this.

How many fumbles never happened because they had a better grip on the ball? Perhaps one in that 2011 title game that might have made all the difference?

Score in the game vs Colts cannot abolish them from plain cheating. You MUST play by the rules.

Do you really think that this is the only time they've done this? C'mon. You don't even attempt this in a game like the AFCCG unless you're confident about getting away with it because you have before.

However, there is no way they're going to stop or postpone the SB. Too much money involved.
