Updated: Ravens roster dead weight - Cody cut

90 posts in this topic

Aaron Wilson said on Twitter that Cody is facing allegations of animal cruelty.

Good find(s). Dog cruelty does not go over well. See you, Terrence.

edit - also could be broken out into another topic if the investigation goes anywhere

I know he hasn't been himself last season; however, JJ was rated as one of top 5 KR this season in avg yards.  So either way, he's still producing at the highest level in comparison to the rest.

Which is why I don't see him being released like some think he will be. If anything I like us to add some quality ST players for next season so he'll have more running lanes, and more TDs.

Let's see if Goodell can be consistent for once and give him the same two year ban he gave Vick. Vick was suspended August 2007 and was reinstated for the 2009 season.

Vick actually wasn't convicted or banned for animal cruelty.  Per the article, Cody has yet to be charged.

Do we think those charges are the reason for the early announcement? I mean, I think we all figure we were going to release him anyway, just wondering if it had anything to do with the timing.

Nah, because others have stated, the Ravens had nothing to gain releasing him before March 10.  He would have been let go either way.

Lots of recent tweets on this. Attorney saying Cody loved the dog, paid $8000 for it, took it to the vet and is devastated that it died. Claiming a rush to judgement before facts are known.

Too early for that. Cody hasn't actually been charged. And Vick was never actually convicted of animal cruelty, but for racketeering.

Per Jeff Zrebiec

Ex-Raven Terrence Cody is facing 15 total counts, accourting to state's attorney's office.

Some of the charges are; weed possession, illegal possession of alligator, and animal abuse/neglect charges.

What the hell?

Add to that, he ended up neglecting the alligator. So he illegally obtained it just to ignore it...

As chappele said as Rick James "they never shoulda gave him money..."

How do you neglect an alligator, deny it water and rats?

If we trade him then the only $$ that counts is signing bonus $$ which we can spread out over several years. Now if we cut him his cap hit is similar to if he is on the team. Now "IF" he can play like he did in 2013 season our OLine is the best in the NFL!! No matter what they say about the cowboys OLine. Wagner Yanda Osemele all are arguably the best at their position. If Monroe turns back into a top10 LT that would be the best scenario but he was barely solid this year.

Really, lol?  Monroe isn't that bad.  And he is a LT.  Even average players are hard to find and he is the best we will get unless we get a top 10 pick in the draft or drop 10+ million a season.

So, why do I get the feeling that at some point the dog was brought too close to the alligator and the encounter didn't end well for the poor pooch?

And that alcohol/drugs were involved?

And what are the chances Cody saved his money? Because his time in the league is done.

Jeez, that 2010 draft was horrendous, and 2009 wasn't much better.

I dont even think an alligator is a cool pet do you ?

I say keeping snakes alligators and rats is a sign of a demented mind.   Stick with dogs cats birds and ferrets for the normal life

Vick plead guilty to dogfighting. Part of his admission was that he killed, or had killed, under-performing dogs by electrocution. You see a difference?

Cody was gone before this came to light. Unfortunately, the timing of his release now gives the national media the "Ravens release dog killer in an attempt to avoid bad publicity" angle to play up...
