Championship Round Discussion (Other NFL Teams)

1,164 posts in this topic

So, yeah; while us Ravens fans have been wondering worrying about what the future holds for our current(?)/former(?) offensive coordinator, Gary Kubiak, there are games still being played... for those who care, I guess?

Anyways, the Packers travel to Seattle to take on the defending Super Bowl champs in a rematch of the NFL season opener, as well as the "Fail Mary" game from 2012. Will Green Bay be able to overcome the home-field advantage and pull-off the upset? Or, will the Seahawks win to advance to the big game for the second year-in-a-row in hopes of becoming repeat champions?

And, then; Indy plays New England in the AFC Championship Game. Can Indy do the impossible and win in Foxboro? Or, will New England go-onto the Super Bowl for the sixth time in 14 years?

My predictions: The Seahawks will defeat the Packers in a close one; meanwhile, New England blows-out Indy.

Yeah agree with your predictions, seattle game could potentially be a blowout too though. Although one thing green bay has in their favor is no team has gone to back to back superbowls since the 03-04 pats. I hope we get seattle though because it would be a much more interesting game and tougher one too.

Green Bay vs Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Unless Rodgers is 100%, I don't see it, Seattle is playing very good D and I don't think Packers can stop their ground game. Even with injury free Rodgers it would be pretty tall order.

Seattle's defense has been getting a lot of love for their "comeback," but who have they played exactly?

QBs SEA has faced since WK 11

A. Davis

C. Newton

D. Stanton

C. Kaepernick (x2)

M. Sanchez

R. Lindley

S. Hill

Real murderers row there. I could see Rodgers stunnong them with an upset.

Honestly I want SEA to win it all again.  If it wasn't us or the Cardinals, I always wanted SEA to win it all.  I really like those guy's attitude.  You can call them arrogant and you can call their fanbase annoying, but their players are really something special. They respect the game (even if they don't always respect those involved in it).   They deserve to repeat

And no disrespect to the poster PackFan (because you're an awesome person and I really appreciate the support you give our team) but I just don't like the Packers.  They're the lovable mary sue's of the league.  Nothing about them excites me.  I will admit tho that I am gaining a lot of admiration for Rodgers considering he's still playing at an elite level despite his injury.

I hope the Pats get embarrassed like DEN did if they make it to the SB against SEA.

Then I hope the Seahawks make it to Super Bowl 50, and when we are the AFC Champions do the one thing the Broncos or Patriots couldn't do. Beat the Seahawks in the Super Bowl to further show we are the better AFC Team.

It's interesting that the Ravens are the only AFC team to win it all in the last 5 years. Hopes it stays that way.

YES!  My thoughts exactly!

Before that, the NFC had a nice little three year run from Super Bowl 44 - 46 with the Saints, Packers and Giants. Beating the Colts, Steelers and Patriots. Then we came along in 47 and we beat the 49ers to end their streak. Now if you want to give credit to the Steelers or mainly our division, then we can go back before that streak started.

The Ravens are the only AFC team to win in the last five years, but before that 3 year streak by the NFC, the Steelers were the last AFC team to win a Super Bowl, over the Cardinals. Next AFC team to win? Us and what division do the Ravens & Steelers play in, the North. Meaning since Super Bowl 43, the only two AFC teams to win a Super Bowl have come from the big tough AFC North.

Seahawks are basically unbeatable at home and I think the Ravens were the only team that could have defeated the Patriots at home this postseason.

This seems to be the consensus. A lot of people have said that the AFC Championship was played last Saturday. I would like the Colts to win but I just don't see it.

The Seahawks are less certain imo. They haven't seen a good offense in a while.

Let's go, Pack.

These are the types of games people will remember if Rodgers wins..... Torn calf, on the road, vs defending champs who embarrassed them to start the year, heavy underdogs. Depending on his performance, this could greatly help his legacy when people debate whether he's the greatest of all time. Of course he'd still have to win the next one too...

There's no possible bad Super Bowl matchup imo.... This is my order of preference.

Packers vs Patriots (Rodgers vs Brady... Two most efficient QB's in NFL history as far as TD/INT ratio.)

Packers vs Colts (Arguably, the two most current unstoppable/intimidating forces at QB.)

Colts vs Seahawks (QB class of 2012 dueling off)

Patriots vs Seahawks (Most two balanced teams from top to bottom. The heavyweights of the league.)

I'm rooting for Pack, but if they can't get it done I hope Indy does..... Only because Pagano & Redding.... And even though I'm too young to have deep rooted bitterness for the Colts, it still pains me to want them to win before 2 other teams.

....Wouldn't mind seeing Patriots win it if it meant Brady and/or Belicheck go out on top. The love fest would be nauseating, but I'd go through if it meant the patriots would no longer be relevant rather sooner than later.

Pack have nothing to lose. They're extremely dangerous and shouldn't be taken lightly.

I honestly feel like they're making Rodgers calf a bigger issue than it is. Not saying it won't affect him, but I think he'll surprise people early by how he moves.

They've struggled all year vs dominant front 4's on the road..... Physical teams in general since the playoffs in 2011.... I think the trend ends.

Pack, 35

Hawks, 30

Brady gets it done. Luck actually makes it interesting for once against them.

Pats, 41

Colts, 37

Trent Richardson isn't making the trip for the Patriots due to "personal reasons"

Sounds like the Colts will soon be fined by the NFL for hiding an injury--a bruised and possibly torn ego.

Well here's the bad news, regardless he is or isn't on the roster in 2015, they have to pay him $3M. To me, I think Trent can still be salvaged if he could go somewhere with a good enough line. Indy doesn't have much, Cleveland didn't really either. If he were to go to Dallas, maybe split time with Murray next season, behind that O-line he could do some damage.

It will be interesting to see if Indy has grown up and are ready for the moment. They've got talent, but they've yet to prove to be a team that has the mettle to make it in a tough game with huge implications, especially on the road.

A part of me makes me want to see them get boot stomped in Foxboro again. I kind of like being regarded as the only team that really seems to be able to take down or at least hang with the Pats up there in January .

Great comment, plus 1 for that

My sister's a Colts fan and she couldn't understand why I didn't want to root for them against the despicable Pats.  The statement in bold is my reason why.  Or to put in other words:

"Dear Other AFC Teams,

Brady and Bellicheck...in Foxboro?  Yeah their ours.  Hands off."

It is really cool how we're always seen as the only threat to go into Foxboro. Everyone was saying it even before we made the playoffs, too. Lots of Pats fans were happy when they thought Houston took us out for good.

But I don't like that enough to root for the Pats. Nope. Go Colts.

He promised him being inactive would never happen again and now he's not even making the trips. Silly Colts, what a bad trade that was. Not like the Browns turned it into anyway worthwhile anyway...

First, I'm stealing that part as my sig, that is simply awesome and the truth lol. Second this is where I was torn, I want to see the Patriots lose because they beat us. At the same time it would mean it would give Luck the same post season run as Joe beating Manning then Brady. I would like to keep it that way, we are the only AFC Team to beat the Patriots in the Playoffs in Foxboro, and Joe is the only QB to beat Manning and Brady en route to a Super Bowl Championship.
