Anyone from Jim Harbaughs old SF staff may want to make the leap...e.g. Ed Donatell, Fangio would be a dream

Or maybe we can poach another old HC who has been moved around like Schwartz or someone like Perry Fewell...basically an excahnge

lol didn't they see the train wreck he coached in new orleans?

That could be talent issues more than coaching issues but The Giants do have more talent especially in their secondary

Just saw that myself. Who replaces? Who (if anyone) do we have on staff that could take the job?

Well not exactly on staff but...

Ed Reed :D  :268213:

I like Ed Donatell the best. I don't know any one from the college level that's a good defensive back coach but it's always interesting to add youth  to the coaching staff.

Wouldn't mind Fewell, he used to coach DBs in the league. Do not want Jim Schwartz, complete tool.

I would like Donatell, but i think he's going to washington with Fangio.

The Ravens last 3 secondary coaches have become defensive coordinators.  Chuck Pagano (Ravens DC then Colts HC), Teryl Austin (Lions DC and HC candidate for multiple teams right now) and now Spagnuolo.

This would be my preference as well. the skins interviewed him for dc and also have reported interest in Fangio. I think if Fangio is hired as dc he would go with him to Washington.

Wonder if Ed Donatell, Jim Harbaugh's former DB's coach in San Francisco, might get a call from John Harbaugh now that Spagnuolo is gone.

Maybe he can get in Harbs ear about picking up Chris Culliver...Get him lol

I'm told by a couple of sources that Steve Spagnuolo will officially be returning as the Giants' defensive coordinator.

Looks like we're in the market for a new Secondary Coach.

Which I personally don't see as a problem, he's not really a secondary specialist, more a DLine coach.

Bring in Reed! It could work.

This hits harder than most will believe. Spags is a great and underrated DB coach, and he was crucial in stabilizing our secondary. His prior experience as a DC, LB coach, and DL coach was quite valuable.

He needs to be an assistant to someone first. He's never coached before. Could work - but think he needs at least some time under someone first.

Good luck, Spags.

He also helped coached them to a Super Bowl as D-coordinator against the 18-0 Patriots. Giants know what they are getting.

I can already tell that would be a trainwreck. Reed would coach the secondary on how to shut receivers down and stay with them. Then Pees will be like forget everything a future HOF just said and stay 20 yards off the receiver. It won't matter who we bring in as our secondary coach as long as Pees keeps letting our secondary get beat every play.

I think fat slob rob Ryan took the unit the very next year to near tops.

the name to hire : Torrian Grey defensive secondary coach virginia tech

I go to Virginia Tech and the defensive backs there may be the best coached in the country. The amount they are expected to do in terms of versatility and extremely complex schemes just blows my mind.
