ESPN is quickly becoming the least credible and most laughed at sports news source. Matt Ryan ranked ahead of Eli Manning and Donovan McNabb and just a shade below Philip Rivers. Forget Flacco being ranked 10th that is just retarded to place Ryan that high. So stupid. ESPN is a joke they're like parasites that latch onto anything trendy and feed off it as long as they can, and even when proven wrong will milk it until its totally dry.

What I'm trying to say is ****** ESPN.

That's why I smiled when SI.com's Peter King took a little jab at ESPN in one of his recent MMQB columns, when he was talking about how T.O. was angry at Jason Witten for coming up with plays with Tony Romo behind his back, and ESPN just let T.O. call their reporter who broke the story a liar without giving him any backup whatsoever.

Which is why I always say I wouldn't mind the prestige of working for ESPN (let's face it, it's the #1 end-all, be-all source of sports news for casual fans across America), but I probably wouldn't like the way things are done over there.

I trust NFL Network to at least stand by the stories that their reporters break.

As for the power rankings...well, the fact that Matt Ryan is rated above Eli Manning automatically made me click away. My bias against Ryan aside, there's no justification to grade Manning lower than Ryan. McNabb, I might understand, since he was in a slump most of the year. But above Chad Pennington, too? Pennington's been one of the most efficient QBs in the league this season, and he has been the reason why their offense has been clicking -- especially when Ronnie Brown & Ricky Williams have been shut down, on more than one occasion.

As for the other rankings, I generally agree, particularly with the RB ranking, since I think the other five ranked ahead of us truly are better or more talented, not to take anything away from our guys.

The media doesn't realize that by ranking us so low they take so much pressure off of our team. High expectations suck, we don't need that additional pressure.

I agree. I only get nervous if we're favored in a game. We do our best as underdogs so I hope nobody picks us.

They didn't rank us low. They ranked us high. They have us #4 of all the teams in the playoffs. We are actually the 6 seed, which means they think we have the talent of a 2 seed.

If anything they ranked us too high. I think all 4 teams with a bye this weekend should be ranked ahead of us, and so should the Colts. I think we are actually the #6 team.

We are built for the playoffs though because we have a defense and can run. Only the Giants really have a team better built for January.

Don't let the Colts fool you, this is nothing new to this team, they always get underestimated this time of year...

lol you think the Manning needs a running game going into San Diego? Pittsburgh would be his biggest challenge and the SB is in Tampa bay

I couldn't agree more. ESPN is a bunch of bandwagon riding think they know it all "experts." For Matt Ryan to be rank that high is ridiculous. And for Ryan to even be considered as a MVP candidate is even more of a joke. Before the season started most of the guys from ESPN picked the Cowboys to win the super bowl. Then it was the Giants. Then the Titans. And then the Jets. Then the Panthers. Now it's the Steelers or the Colts. ESPN has no credibility with me what's so ever and the lack of respect they have shown the Ravens is unbelievable. I actually heard one guy pick the Jags to beat the Ravens last week. When it's all said and done, the people from ESPN don't know anymore about football the the average fan. So I take everything they say with a grain of salt.

ESPN's articles and rankings focus focus more on popularity than they should. The Cowboys are either hailed or trashed. Why? They're a good team.

Because they get so much attention that everything they do is magnified by a kabilnos times.

Matt Ryan's success would not be so overblown if Michael Vick wasn't so popular. Fact. The media attention surrounding the Falcons with Michael Vick's being arrested meant that if the guy who replaced Vick does well, he will be hailed as the Second Coming(no, not of Vick, he was very average but exciting to watch). Just look at Matt Schaub the previous year, he got a lot of positive attention for being Just O.K.
