Goosebumps...

40 posts in this topic

So, I just logged onto the main page of BaltimoreRavens.com a minute ago, and I was surprised to see a brand-new flash video entrance up, commemorating this weekend's big playoff game with the Dolphins.

Let me just say: WOW. Goosebumps. All over. The images, the soundbytes, the Fort Minor "Remember The Name" instrumental playing in the background, the brand-new background splash image with Joe Flacco and Ed Reed.

I have never reacted this way to a webpage before, of all things.

The one soundbyte that got me was John Harbaugh's speech:

"Character overcomes adversity because you've got hearts this big. Was it perfect? No! Was it pretty? No! But it was us!!"

Lame ****** song, but I liked it overall. Mike, or whoever created the video, needs some help when it comes to choosing background music!

Well, it's sort of become the officially licensed theme song of the NFL and the playoffs now, ever since Fort Minor released it in '05...lol.

I admit, I'm sick of the song, too, but I still had goosebumps from the soundbytes and images at least...
That was spectacular. And, if I may, I love that we've got an offensive player up there. It seems like it's been ages!
An offensive player who's NOT a running back, at that. Remember, Jamal Lewis was our last big offensive weapon that was prominently featured on a regular basis, before Joe Flacco came to town. ;)

Yeah, that's true... let me try again - It's awesome to see a franchise quarterback on the homepage. :P

I gotta say, after seeing some other teams sites, ours is one of the best and coolest out there. It actually gives me a Ravens vibe, you know? Only thing I don't like is the way the photo gallery works.

If you look around the league the Ravens site completely DOMINATES any other site out there. Its not even close. The flash intro is sick, the effects are good and I love the book end Flacco and Reed as well. Incredible job art department. That Harbaugh speech is incredible too. Was it perfect? No. Was it pretty? No. No! But it was us! Man that gets me pumped for Sunday!

Next season when they play this and I'm sure they will / they already do kind of its very similar when Harbs says over the PA "whats our name' People need to yell Ravens as LOUD AS WE POSSIBLY CAN.

This is OUR city. This is OUR team. We are all Ravens so lets represent like it.

I think they played that video during the Ravens vs. Jags game. It gave me goosebumps too, all this complaining over jerseys who cares no other team is the Ravens. We are a well respected team, man do I feel lucky. May our frachise always dominate.

I love that speech too "but it was US"

Let's show the nation who we are and what we can do, if they missed what we did.

Success can only go so far unreconized.

I don't think they pay a professional just to do a couple short videos for us. Who knows, maybe i'm wrong. It looks good, that was my point. ;)

I'm sure they were Professionals. Like I said, they play it at the game. I'm sure no allowed us to use this Video for free, just like the building of this website, I'm sure they got a good amount of chip. NFL isn't cheap business.

It not just a MP4 video they got off youtube it was a flash animation.

Like i said, i disagree. No point in arguing since nobody will be able to confirm it. But you should check out some of the videos on youtube, plenty of fans can do just as good of a job. All you need is some decent software.

They probably already employ a crew that can do videos like that to keep up the website. Duffy does all the reporting for br.com but I am not sure he's the webmaster, i.e. the person that actually designs the layout and posts the articles and videos and what not.

You're right Bullrush given the time I could do a video like that BUT the Ravens have their own media department and they are the ones who update and maintain the site. They have a small team of graphic designers, flash coders, and web developers. THAT is who did this. It was created in house by the media department for the Ravens.

It's true, they have their own media department. They're the ones also responsible for the video features we see on BR.com, and the website layout, etc. Just like how RaveTV has its own production department that makes all those nifty highlight reels for their shows.

Because they work for the Ravens, they also have access to media that the common fan wouldn't, with multiple angles of each play, and footage that we wouldn't have other than from NFL.com or NFL Network, etc.

I probably shouldn't have pinned the poor song choice on Duffy, you're right.
