Ravens Signings and Re-signings (actual and speculation)

What an offense that was. Unfortunately our defense was woeful. We'd score 42 points and still lose.

I remember it well. It was crazy that after that our defense was great and offense was woeful for so many years.

Highly doubtful. Wayne wasn't nearly the same and had a very low catch rate for an extremely pass friendly offense

Wayne was coming off  a serious injury  before the 2014 season and I think he got injuried again as well in the regular season last year... I don't know how good he still is but it's possible he could have something left. Do I think The Ravens should sign him ? No.  I wouldn't be totally shock to see The Ravens keeping their eyes out on a certain veteran receivers if the young receivers don't impress in training camp.

Michael Jackson (1201 yds) and Derrick Alexander (1009), 1996, would disagree. ;)

yep, back when 1000 yards was actually an accomplishment

I can't imagine why the Ravens would be interested in Wayne given they have a young and upcoming stable of receivers who are itching for an opportunity... especially considering reports that the Ravens are indeed one of few teams pursuing Reggie Wayne.

REPORT: Ravens among 4 AFC contenders showing interest in Reggie Wayne

Not sure how I feel about that.

And this happened right after those reports came out...

Ravens not expected to pursue veteran free agent wide receiver Reggie Wayne, according to sources

#Ravens not expected to pursue WR Reggie Wayne or WR-KR Ace Sanders. Team doesn't consider receiver a pressing need entering camp.

Aaron Wilson (and others) refuting that the Ravens have interest in Wayne

Makes no sense for him to come here, we have cheaper guys on the upswing

Yea it really doesnt. Unless internally they're not as confident in Perriman, Aiken, Marlon and Butler as we all seem to be. That's the only thing I can think of.

But I'll trust Aaron Wilson over the guy who reported the Ravens as having interest. I think the Ravens name being thrown into the mix is probably more Reggie Wayne listing the teams he'd consider playing for.

I would trust Aaron Wilson over these bozos over at CBS sports any day. If you notice this report was filed less than 5 hours ago as well!

I mean, I'm sure we've at least checked in on him.  I'd be surprised if we weren't at least doing out due diligence.  I'd guess that's where reporters are running with legitimate interest, when it's really nothing more than being a responsible team.

I'm not even sure who Chris Cook is.

Former 2nd round pick of the Vikings that never really put it together.  He's got great size at 6'2, 212lbs, but never really figured out how to use it.  He played very well for the 49ers last preseason, but rarely saw the field in the regular season due to injury.

CB Chris Cook visiting with Ravens!

I'm not even sure who Chris Cook is.

Same here, I was just reporting it!

Not getting excited until he signs with us.

Not sure if Cook would be a good signing or not. Big corners that don't really know how to use their use, or how to read the movements of receivers tend to be beaten easily by the smaller, quicker receivers.

Cook was great in the preseason. Highest PFF rating on that 49ers defense, then he got injuried. He'd be a good signing, might even shock us take Webb's job. He'd definitely take Melvin's(Mr. No-lookback) spot.

Interesting that we brought Cook in today and didn't sign him, usually we sign someone the same day as the visit or don't at all. This guy has potential and great size, we really could use another corner in the mix. I guess it's possible that we wanted to bring him in for cheap and Cook wanted to weigh his options before taking our deal.

My biggest concern is that he goes to Pittsburgh now, he could definitely contribute for them. I would really like to see him sign here because it kills two birds with one stone. Adds another corner with high upside onto our roster and eliminates the best corner on the market from ending up a Steeler and coming back to haunt us this season.

I deeply hope Aldon Smith does not end up in the AFC or AFC north

The only place he will be ending up this year is in a rehab facility and counseling program

dude will be suspended for a while.

given his past stuff he could probably miss this entire season...

id consider him for vet minimum at most.
