Ravens Signings and Re-signings (actual and speculation)

That's a great play, but I love how blatantly Dickson holds his man.

Plan executed to perfection - hold them as long as possible. If the flag flies, it's still a safety.

I swear my Pats fan buddy would argue this is just as bad as eligible receiver deception.

Nobody has posted anything on his verbal 5 year contract extension. I find that sad. He is one of the best punters in the league. In fact I might get his jersey now. I think he will retire a Raven.

Brown is an average veteran CB at this point in this career. I'd take him in Baltimore, solid depth. He was excellent back in and 2011 and 2012.

With the money he got, I would've liked bringing Cary as slot guy. Basically similar price tag. But I can see why going to Seattle could be tempting.

Need more details obviously, but Gostkowski's deal would seem to set market for Ravens and RFA PK Justin Tucker. https://twitter.com/MikeReiss/status/621382791629041664

Mike Reiss @MikeReiss

Filed to ESPN: Patriots and kicker Stephen Gostkowski beat franchise-tag deadline and agree to four-year deal. Ballpark total value of $17m.

I'd think Tucker would get a million or two less than that, but that's probably about what I'd expect.

Disappointed to see that Jeromy Miles signed with the Giants today.  I really liked him as a ST ace and a quality backup at S.  So much for that report that we'd be re-signing him early this offseason.

Sad to see him go although if we really wanted him back I think we could have gotten him on a good deal.

I think The Ravens did want him back but Miles want's to be a starter which is something The Ravens can't provide for him at the moment He has a better shot at being a starter for The Giants than The Ravens

Eh we have Hill at SS but who knows if we keep him next year and Elam obviously hasn't been good. I think he would have gotten playing time. Also see Landon Collins starting for the Giants more likely than not.

True. My thinking process was  since The Ravens have a  first rounder in  Matt Elam and a third rounder in Terrence Brooks  it may lead to Miles seeing less playing time than last year especially when you consider The Ravens having Will Hill and Kendrick Lewis as their primary starters... Elam wasn't good last year but I have no clue how good he will be this year and I expect The Ravens to give him many shots to see the field this year unless he continues to play bad and Terrence Brooks whom been reported to be ahead a schedule with his recovery from his injury may see some playing time as well. Both of these guys are high investments so that tends to lead to players getting overlook and I can Miles looking at it like that.

I expect Landon Collins to be The Giants starting strong safety but The Giants have  a open competition at free safety so Jeromy Miles has a much better chance to be a starter their than as  a Raven. His competition so far is against two experience players whom are fourth and fifth rounders and then theirs Chykie Brown as well . His chances of being a starter is looking good and if he plays well this year then he may get re-sign making more money.

I don't think Elam and Brooks are the reason he went, he still got decent playing time last year and we had Stewart. I am not saying Stewart was great at FS last year or anything but I think the playing time Lewis gets will be in that sort of ball park, maybe a bit more.

I also don't see Miles winning the FS job for the Giants, maybe it happens but Miles and Collins just don't seem like a good tandem for me, if we see that, I don't think it works.

I think playing time has something to do with it but I don't think it was everything, I think he would have came back if we shelled out more money but we didn't. Now the Ravens have messed up in that department before(Corey Graham, that would have been huge for us) but I think they aren't too worried or he would be back. If I had to guess, they envision Trawick doing well on special teams and maybe playing some snaps, Brooks as well hopefully if he can come back.

I do like Miles btw and it is sad to see him go but I think the FO just wants to go in another direction and think the young guys can handle it. We will just have to see what happens.

Reggie Wayne said he's talked to several teams... Think we're one of 'em?

No, not at all. Lets these young guys showcase.

Wayne and Smith, both 36+… That'd be crazy.

The 2005 dream team, ironically, even at 36+ they'd make the best WR tandem we've ever had.

Highly doubtful. Wayne wasn't nearly the same and had a very low catch rate for an extremely pass friendly offense

I don't consider that a great tandem by virtue of having skill sets that were way too similar. Steve and Torrey was a good one and Torrey and Boldin complimented each other well

Highly doubt it, we have a lot of young/quality WR's vying for a roster spot. We also already have SSS so there isn't really a need for yet another veteran with a limited shelf life. We're focusing on our young guys, the guys who we can establish now who can take us into the future.

Michael Jackson (1201 yds) and Derrick Alexander (1099), 1996, would disagree.   ;)

What an offense that was. Unfortunately our defense was woeful. We'd score 42 points and still lose.
