Hurry up and get with a winner brown... He would make more money with them though. He's just depth with the Ravens

I wanna know why Terrell Brown would say the Ravens are interested in him, but not divulge the other three

Maybe they don't really exist.

Leverage--Though I'm not sure if it's leverage to get Baltimore to raise the price or for the other three teams to raise the price. There's a reason he's using us. Either to use our interest as a bargaining chip of sorts to raise his price, or to let us know he has more options. I think the first one but I can't be sure.

The only reason I'm confused is because Baltimore doesn't have a lot of cap room. I don't know the other teams that are interested other than the Patriots, but let's say a team like Jacksonville is interested. Why would he not list them if he wants to raise his price? It'd be like saying, "Hey, this team with tons of cap space is interested in me and they can throw money at me, so if you want me, open up your wallets." I just find it interesting that he singled out Baltimore of all places, but maybe Baltimore does have the most cap space which would be a surprise.

We're sitting at $8M right now with the rule of 51, so it's a nice chunk to have available even before we have to start counting IR, PS, PUP, etc.  It's not a ton of money, but it's no chump change either.  Brown got 1 year, $3.5M last year.  I imagine he pulls less this year.

I think, perhaps, that he's using our reputation for strong D and our perceived need for CB to influence other teams to pay up. He may have a better shot at playing for us than with another team, and even if he doesn't play a whole lot, he can still say he was a member of the number one ranked 2015 Ravens D. It's not all that uncommon for players in Brown's situation to take less to play for a contender.

And in this situation, I'd imagine the Ravens are probably the only contender outside of the Patriots, but I'm guessing the Patriots don't have the most interest or are really all that committed

If we were to sign Brown, I may stand alone with this but I think Vaughn is the odd man out. I feel like Asa is a talented young guy that has potential at CB and as a RS.

I didn't see the details of Vaughn's deal, but I only see him as a camp body. I also think Walker is going to the practice squad.

I guess I have a little more faith in Asa than most. I think he is the better option because of familiarity to the system.

maybe it's the other way around. Maybe he's saying to the teams with the most cap space," hey a team with not a lot of cap space at all (baltimore) still wants me and is willing to put up some money and give me a chance to compete for a Lombardi" so if a team with not alot of cap room wants him - then a team like Jacksonville or whoever has a ton of cap will really open up their wallets. I don't know just a Thought.

1yr $825,000. Definitely not a deal that guarantees him anything. He'll have to compete in camp and prove to be a better option then what we have.

I think Asa is a talented young players, but he's at the point of his career where it's put up or shut up. If guys like Melvin or even Jacoby are playing better or as well as him in preseason, I don't see the coaches waiting on Asa to prove himself. Also keep in mind that Asa is eligible for the PS this year. So if he doesn't have the best TC or preseason and the coaches think he has value as a returner and a role player on defense they might try to stash him on PS.

Vaughn has experience as a starter  and kick returner experience  . He could definitely be more than a camp body

Ravens and Sam Koch reach verbal agreement for five-year extension. Koch just coming of the best year of his career. His cap hit is expected to lower by $3.1M.

Ravens and Sam Koch reach verbal agreement for five-year extension, thoughts?

He had an off year in 2013 but was one of the best to do it last year.  Good for him.

He wasn't the wolf pack member I was expecting to get a deal first though.

Saw this tweet, and for once we may be able to breath and not go into Panic mode, unless Yanda somehow doesn't get done.

With deals for Koch and Jimmy Smith reached, the Ravens' top free agents next offseason are Yanda, Osemele, Tucker and Upshaw.

Wizard of Oz strikes again! Wonder if Tucker will be offered a similar deal to Koch since that's about what we gave Cundiff. Yanda can always be franchised, and well I don't know what will happen with KO or Upshaw. It be nice to keep everyone for once and us not to worry about anything at all in March.

The only problem with your reasoning is that the Ravens can not afford to franchise tag Yanda or Osemele. There are no distinct category for an offensive guard franchise tag. It is just an offensive line tag which means he gets top five average money of all offensive lineman. That brings into play elite LT's which will bring that amount up to around $11-13 million next season. (Complete guess without looking it up) I know Yanda is awesome, but he will be another year older. No way they use the tag on him.

At this point, unless a deal is finalized obviously, the only valid person for the tag is Tucker. It will be interesting to see what he demands on a contract. He has every right to want to be paid more than any other kicker.

Was hoping the see Tucker's name, but great news nonetheless. One play that a lot of ppl forget is the one that pretty much clinched the Super Bowl for us when he milked about 10 seconds off the clock before taking the safety. This allowed the game to end on the free kick without allowing San Fran's offense to take the feild. ( like everybody here isn't already aware of that) Might not seem like much but with all that pressure, having to stay in bounds with several defenders barrellin down on you, and most importantly holding on to the ball.. Huge play. Great kicker and much deserved.

*lol Just noticed the video above right after I made the post. Great minds and all that.

Glad the wolf pack is staying in-tact... I'm sure Tucker is happy which bodes extra well for us.

Depending on exact terms of deal, Koch's new contract could save Ravens up to $830K against Cap. Deal not done for Cap, but to secure Koch

Even so, any extra savings against the cap gives us more room to get contracts for Tucker, Yanda and/or Osemele done.

Sure, but only an extension for Osemele would likely add to the Cap.  Much like with Koch, an extension for Tucker or Yanda would likely create some additional space (and more than just "some" for Yanda).

True; in the back of my mind, I'm still holding out hope that they can get all three done, so any extra cap room is a plus.

My favorite part of the play is how the Punt team just destroyed the 49ers trying to get to Koch, since penalties didn't matter. The best were Dickson holding and Considine totally tackling his guy. LOL Jimmy Smith could have done a bit better on his guy though.

Yup, if Jimmy holds his block longer - of mugs his guy like the others did - that would have been the last play of the SB!

That's a great play, but I love how blatantly Dickson holds his man. Edited by Inqui
