Ravens Signings and Re-signings (actual and speculation)

Returned 24 kicks for 686 yards and a TD. Longest Return was 97 yards. Will probably be our 4th corner and probably return specialist unless someone else steps up.

If he signs on as a corner then it's going to hurt the chances of a player like Carter making the roster.

It's something that's not getting too much talk right now (at least not in a panicky way) but return man is probably the biggest question mark on the team right now

I think we said the same thing about Corey Graham when he first got here.

Let's give the guy a chance before we call him a "camp body"

Nobody thought Graham was camp body, he did exceed expectations though. Vaughn could find his way onto the roster but it's already a crowded position.

1. Jimmy

2. Webb

3. Arrington

4. Melvin

5. Asa

6. Walker

Could we carry 7 corners.. After what happened last year it's certainly possible. But if we don't the only guy on that list who isn't a virtual lock for the 53 is Asa. Vaughn would have to beat Asa out in camp and that's an uphill battle for him, familiarity with the coaches/scheme are on Asa's side.

A big step up when about halfway through last year it looked like this:

1.Webb

2.Melvin

3.Elam/miles/ICR

4.Me

5.The guy selling hot dogs in the stands

6.Somebody's Grandpa

Agreed,  Ozzie & company have done a great job with the overhaul at cb this offseason. It's night and day from last year. Vaughn reminds me of Franks/Cox from last year, a guy who could end up bouncing on and off the active roster during the season. Thankfully we have the depth this year that Vaughn would never be called on to start like Franks was. The fact that we made the playoffs, beat the Steelers at Heinz, and had the Pats on the ropes in Foxboro (under shady circumstances with what are now illegal plays and likely deflated footballs) with our patch work secondary is nothing short of incredible.

I'm just beyond excited for what we can accomplish with the roster we have now. The Pats and Broncos got worse, the Colts got better but I think you can say without bias that we are the most complete team in the AFC if our rookies pan out even remotely like we think they will.

I always thought Graham was going to be a stud.  He was just a late bloomer who made solid progression each year.  This guy has struggled to stay on one team and probably won't make the team unless we suffer another injury.

Vaughn is probably the pure definition of a borderline guy.  He might make it.  He might not.  I think bringing him in is as much about getting a body in there at KR as it is CB.

If you want to compare Vaughn to someone, I'd compare him to Forsett. He's a guy most of us wrote off as a stop gap for Ray Rice.

I think it's strange to compare a CB to a RB.  RB by nature is so reliant on talent in front of him and Oline.  Which is what killed Forsett.  CB on the other hand you're out there on an island against whoever you're playing against.  Vaughan also under performed with Detroits front 4.

We'll be coming after Gino no doubt and they'll be starting a rookie RT

Calling it now. Doom will have 3 sacks opening game.

That's probably wishful thinking, far more likely he's the next Dominique Franks. Forsett was more so just a victim of a lack of opportunity. The only 2 times Forsett got over 100 carries in a year (prior to 2014) he put up good numbers for the volume.

His first year in Seattle he had 114 carries for 619 and 4 TD's. Totally on par with the numbers he put up last year when he got double the attempts.. 235 carries for 1,266 and 8 TD's. Crazy how well those numbers match up. It wasn't like he was a feature back in Houston or Jacksonville and flopped, he just never got enough touches to produce after 2009 and 2010.

A team can only have 1 feature back.. corner is a lot different and Vaughn has had plenty of opportunities to showcase his skills unlike Forsett.

vaughan addition is not bad at all, like some people are making it out to b, its good depth additions, he has experience and played in more games than asa , and dont forget OZZIE is not done yet with the roster.

We should trade for Zach Mettenberger, he's almost a copy and Paste of Joe, exact same strengths and play style, he'd be a great backup. He'd only cost like a 6th round pick.

The Titans aren't letting him go at all. They need competition at the quarterback position especially since there's a good chance their rookie quarterback may not be ready to start.

Titans are really high on MettenBerger and for good reason. Would take more than a 6

I'm still kind of disappointed that we haven't re-signed Jeromy Miles (yet?).  I thought he was very valuable for us as a ST ace and depth at S.  I think the depth at S is very questionable with Brooks likely to start on PUP.  Hill, Lewis, Elam, and…?  Trawick and Perry are the only other options there.

I agree. Must be something else going on there that we don't know about.

To be fair, we typically don't keep as many safeties as we did last season.  I think we kept like 7 last year due to only starting week 1 with 5 total CBs, of which one was already hurting.  Normally we keep 4-5 safeties so those named may very well be it since we have decent CB depth, on paper.

Now, for my actual opinion.  I think Brown would be a great get.  I'm surprised he was only able to grab a 1 year deal last year, and the only reason he's still available right now if because he played through injury.  I've always been a fan of his, so of course I'd love the move.
