Ravens Signings and Re-signings (actual and speculation)

1,642 posts in this topic

He was released by New England. I think he would be cheap and could at least compete for the nickel/dime spot and help out in Special teams. I think barring any off the field trouble he would be a low risk/high reward guy like Rolando McClain was supposed to be. What do you guys think?

I think if a team like NE, who has no depth and marginal talent at CB, releases a cheap guy who is still under his rookie contract and has decent experience, that's a big red flag for me.

I see 3-4 guys on our roster currently that are better than him, so I don't see a whole lot of upside in bringing him in.

Thanks never saw this

No worries, just letting you know. It gets buried underneath all of the rookie threads

For those hoping Dennard would be a Raven, it appears that Arizona had other thoughts. They claimed him off waivers.

Dang, kinda expected him to have quite a few suitors though. I still believe we'll add a respectable corner at some point before camp.

Anytime we express interest in a player on this website, he ends up being signed by some other team. #itcontinues

Lol, true but I'm glad the Ravens are not as desperate as some fans are.

The Pats continue to shed conerbacks - Alfonzo Dennard last week and Kyle Arrington today to save $3M in cap space.  We all know that the Ravens can use corners.

28y/o
5-10/190
4.44 40
2011 Interception co-leader - could be again on the right defense.

Anyone interested?  What's he worth to Bmore?

Merged your thread with signing speculation

Does anyone know what the heck the Patriots are doing with their CB's? They have now gotten rid of it didn't sign their top 4 CB's from last year.

Arrington probably won't get past waivers(unless his contract is huge for some reason) so I doubt we can even try to pick him up.

Would Love to bring in Kyle Arrington. Solid nickel corner that could add some much needed veteran depth behind Jimmy and Webb.

DJ Swearinger was cut by Texans.

He may be really slow, but he can lay the lumber as a SS.

Plus he was teammates with Kendrick Lewis last year.

Swearinger is a safety tho.  They're looking for a corner.

I forgot about the waiver thing, but I think a solid player like that is something that Ozzie may sacrifice a little for.

Isn't May 12th the comp pick deadline or is it June 1st. If it's tomorrow it's time to start picking. Hopefully Arrington makes it through waivers.

If they want a 1-dimensional SS, then Swearinger would be a good candidate. Keep in mind they rotate a lot of safeties.

I mean, it's better than depending on Elam to make a tackle.

Plus worst-case scenario, you cut Swearinger for no loss before the season begins (still on his rookie contract, and the Texans already paid his signing bonus).

Kyle Arrington, 28, has been the Patriots' top slot cornerback for the past five seasons. His value was on display in January's AFC Championship Game, when he held Colts star T.Y. Hilton to one catch for 36 yards in a blowout win. Arrington finished 36th out of 108 qualified corners in Pro Football Focus' ratings. In 2011, he led the NFL with seven interceptions.

We need to pick him up fast, he's prettty cheap.

I'm very interested in Arrington.  We need CB help and he's exactly the type of guy I'd think we'd be interested in.

So who are the starting CBs for the Pats now? Apparently they didn't pay too much attention to us last year

The fact that you're interested tells me that he'll be signed by someone that's not us. Seems to be the trend this offseason for us.

Logan Ryan and Bradley Fletcher. Maybe they really like Malcolm Butler.

I wouldn't mind Arrington. Would be a good slot CB for us and he did give T.Y Hilton and other slots good trouble last year. Give us that depth needed as well.

I wanted Swearinger in the draft and now that the Texans released him one would think he could be another former-Texan in a long line of former-Texans to be resurrected by the Ravens.  But after seeing him commit 10 penalties over two seasons - most of which went for 15 yards and 1st downs - I'll stick with Will Hill and see if Matt Elam can show us something (FYI - I've been disappointed with Elam so far too).  Can't just cut bait a first rounder like that.

With all the safeties we have currently deserving of a shot, I just don;t see room for adding a penalty machine.

I would like Arrington but I can't get the image of just how bad he played last year out of my head. He's had good and bad games. I have mixed feelings on him but I think we could do a lot worse and he's better than nothing.

Field Yates ‏@FieldYates  54s

Source: 8 total teams put in a waiver claim on S D.J. Swearinger - TB, JAX, OAK, NYJ, ATL, BUF, PITT, BALT. Bucs had 1st priority.

Ravens put a waiver claim on Swearinger.

Ya the Buccs get him, but we don't really need another safety imo. Not disappointed at all. I would like to get Arrington and fortunately I don't believe he has to go through waivers.
