Ravens Signings and Re-signings (actual and speculation)

After hearing that Jonathan Joseph might be released or traded with the arrival of of Kevin Johnson, I absolutely love the idea of bringing him in and we have the cap space. That would really sure up that group and after this draft I can't think of a weak spot on the team then.

Thoughts?

I'd be ecstatic with a couple of vets at CB and ILB around 30 years of age, not 35+ - Smitty is an exception. That would be a really strong roster, on paper at least. Can't wait for OTA's and camp!

Was wondering why Hill & Means haven't signed their contracts yet. Haven't heard any news on either. Hope they are not hold out situations.

Smith, Joseph, Webb along with Melvin, Walker, Levin, Jackson, Wilson, etc. would be a top 10 DB corps. It also protects against possible injury - I really like the idea of a 3-4 year deal for a vet corner and then all that young cheap talent for depth. A lot of size all of a sudden too, this has to be one of the tallest secondaries we have ever rolled out.

i'm going to be positive and say that I would love it. I fully expect us to sign a vet corner. no question in my mind. If it were jonathan Joseph?  super pleased by that.

I imagine there would be competition for a guy like that, however.

That's good news, thanks. You would at least think the player roster would be updated by now. They didn't waste any time adding the draft picks.

Williams and Davis are still off of it, oddly. I want the rookies to decide on some numbers, too.

Only question mark I can see on this team is at the KR/PR spot(s). Do we have the guys to do it already? There are always FAs with those skills but that means a tough decision on cuts come August.

Imo Camp and Asa are solid PR options...KR is up in the air though. DeAndre Carter should be looking at that spot with wide eyes.

Patriots are releasing Alfonzo Dennard....I remember some people liked him coming out, I did not I believe I thought he was alittle stocky and not long enough and stiff, but then I saw him making some plays for the Pats and thought well he must be decent lol...anyways started 4 games for them last year...could be worth a look

I wouldn't mind but he has a good history of terri trouble with the law and that's not something I really think Ozzie will bring in here but who knows.

Now that the draft is over a lot of the team needs can be accessed and in my mind the major one left unaddressed is cornerback If either Webb or smith go down I have to think Melvin is our number 2 corner... Although he showed some promise last year that makes me a little uneasy how can the Ravens adress this... One way I was thinking is by trading for boykin on the Eagles ges cheap young on the trade block and a really good nickel corner who could take a starting position at nickel and provide the needed depht... My only concern with that is idk what we would have to give up (maybe osemele) who can fill hermans spot on the Eagles who wants out anyways and he is in a contract year anyway... I belive urschel can step right in and start and we still have depht thanks to the guard we drafted and the fact that our o line is pretty deep anyways... What does everyone else think this is just my solution that I thought of completely improbable and would probbably never happen but is interesting none the less

We lose big-time in a Osemele-for-Boykin trade

Do you think we are going to be able to pay him next year... If he slips into free agency i Belive we would get a 4th rounder comp but I would take Boykin over a 4th rounder such As tray walker (even though I belive he has great upside) anyday chip would PROB even throw in a pick like a 5th rounder to sweeten it upk

Boykin's also in the last year of contract with the Eagles. One year of KO>>>>>>>>>>one year of Boykin.

I also heard he has a bad work ethic.  Doubt he'd last long with Harbs.

Yeah, KO isn't going anywhere this year... I'm hopeful both he and Yanda will be able to re-sign under team-friendly, but fair, deals.

I thought he had 2 years left on his rookie deal could be wrong ... Any other cb that might get cut or could be traded for

I haven't realized this until now; but, is anyone kinda surprised that Jeromy Miles hasn't signed with a team in the 2 months since free agency began?

Seeing how Miles is capable of providing depth at both safety positions and is a consistent contributor on special teams, one would think some team would have signed him to a nice, small contract, by this point. Interesting, to say the least...

I know it was reported before the offseason really began that we had planned on re-signing him fairly quickly.  Hopefully the dominoes start to fall and he comes back, because I actually liked what I saw out of him on defense in addition to his work on ST.

Anybody know anything about Cam Worthy? Apparently we have signed him to a three year deal ( which seems strange).

A wideout free agent from ECU coming off a foot injury.

All UDFAs get 3 year deals.

Hmmm... thanks I didn't know that. I was perplexed myself at why the Ravens would sign him to a 3 yr deal.

I think Dennard is exactly the type of corner signing we need, he won't break the bank and he will come in here well coached and ready to step in and contribute. Really like Tray Walker long term but I don't see him contributing on defense this year unless we get demolished by injuries again which hopefully won't happen.

We were in on Perrish Cox in FA and basically admitted we would've taken Peters in the 1st if he was there and likely would've taken a guy like Rollins in the 2nd if Maxx didn't miraculously fall to us. We clearly still want to add a corner who can contribute next year and this seems like a great opportunity to do that. I'm sure we will have some competition for Dennard though, either way I would be shocked if we didn't add a proven corner at some point before camp starts.

All the 2015 drafted players are now listed with jersey numbers. Still have Hill listed as a RFA & Means listed as a ERFA. As well, none of the UFA's are listed.

Brandon Carr admitted he may have to take a pay cut, so it doesn't look like he'll get cut.

Take that with a grain of salt, though, because the ESPN reporter who's reporting that Carr will have to and believes Carr will also reported a month ago (March) that he didn't believe Carr would be back because he didn't think he'd take a cut.

I think Asa and Melvin are pretty serviceable for the 3rd corner spot at this point. The CB position isn't really bad as people think as long as the players stay healthy.

He was released by New England. I think he would be cheap and could at least compete for the nickel/dime spot and help out in Special teams. I think barring any off the field trouble he would be a low risk/high reward guy like Rolando McClain was supposed to be. What do you guys think?
