Justin Forsett - Thank You!

35 posts in this topic

I wanted to start a post just to say thanks for Justin Forsett's contribution this season.  None of us knew what to expect from our running game after Rice was suspended.  If we were told at the beginning of the season that Forsett would lead the league in yards per attempt, none of us would believe it.  What he came in and did for our rushing game, considering everything leading up to the season, was nothing short of phenomenal. In all honesty, I don't think Rice would have did as well as Forsett in this new offense.

Forsett allowed the Ravens to get back to their fundamental style of pounding the ball w/ the run to set up the pass.   We've seen flashes of just how good this offense can be with just one year of Kubiak's offense.  Another year in the system and some key adds to offense will do wonders for this team.

Forsett was great for the running game and he was truly a great feel good story for the organization.  He's talented, humble and made the most of his opportunity.  Thanks again Justin and hopefully you're back next season.

What a God send Justin was this year. If you think about he was the most important contributor in allowing the Ravens to move forward from all of the pre season crapola. And he's just a great guy, someone you are proud to have on your team.

It's been largely overlooked that he gained 129 yards against the patsies and kept them off balance allowing for the overall success of the O.

Thanks for a great season Justin and the hope is you will be here for next year's SB run!

Justin was a beast but I can only imagine what would've been with Rice. The thing about Forsett Is that he doesn't really break tackles.. Imagine if he did. Still grateful we have him nonetheless

We'll never know with Rice, unfortunately.

Thankfully we landed Forsett who was the perfect back for this offense. Hope he comes back at something reasonable, He and Lorenzo form a nice duo.

Wouldn't be the end of the world if we lost him though..... Like Forsett just proved, RB's can easily be replaced. Especially running behind our line.

Love this dude. Thanks, Justin.

But Rice would have killed it as well.

TMZ killed my fantasy season when they released that tape. I was laughing thinking I got Rice as a steal in like round 10. I think he would've had more success than Forsett, cause he would've been more involved in the passing game as well. Whatever.

He played much better than I ever would have imagined. Thankful for him and liked his attitude the whole time. Seems like a humble guy and busted his butt while he was here. Just difficult to figure out a contract with someone like that. Only have one real year to gauge, but they're so old.

cant blame him at all and hope he gets what he is looking for.

he was great with us and he deserves it.

I am really proud of this guy.  He has paid his dues and then some.  I believe Ozzie will do him right.

I think it's fair to mention him in the context of Forsett essentially replacing him so comparisons are going to be made. But lets be honest the Oline improvement was the big difference this year, any RB could do well behind them. Well every RB not named Pierce.

Really hope he returns.  Even though he's on the older side, I think he was a godsend this year and I'd love to have him back even if it's in a slightly reduced role.  His ability to turn nothing into something was invaluable.

Also don't understate the value of leadership.  Torrey Smith, Justin Forsett, these guys make a difference in the locker room.

As tacky as it is to say, the Ray Rice incident is the best thing to ever happen to Justin Forsett.

What a BEAST, he's so damn fast, and ripped of some amazing runs for us this year. 1200 yds rushing from a 29 year old who was on a practice squad the year prior. And a HELL of a game against NE last week too 150 yds and TD.

Not going to say thank you...just congratulations on having the year of your life. Hope contract negotiations go smooth this offseason so he can do it again for us in 2015.

Agreed.  But not in a thread thanking him for his efforts.  ;)

Neither does Rice...as a runner, I think Forsett did better than what Rice would have. I just wish we had Rice here because what he brings as a recieving threat.

I think I know. Ray Rice would not have done as good as Forsett. Although Ray Bailed the Ravens out numerous times with his pass catching ability, as big as he is 217lbs, he didn't run with much power and was sometimes tackled by his shoe string. He lacked the balance, speed and vision of Forsett. Forsett is also a much better blocker. He finally got a chance to show what he can do. Benched in Seattle in favor of 1st round draft choice Julius Jones when he performed better than Jones. Released and picked up by Houston where he had a better preseason than Arian Foster. Went to Jacksonville and suffered a foot injury.

I believe he was pushed aside because he was a 7th round draft choice and not real big. His size shouldn't be a problem since many other successful backs are the same size. I compare him to Brian Westbrook. We need him back.

I think a lot of people overlook just how good of a blocker Forsett is.  I truly believe he was a factor in why Joe's sacks were considerably less than last year.  I can't recall how many times Rice whiffed on a block or just thrown out of the way causing a sack or hurried throw.  Those intagibles are factored in when it comes time to decide on bringing Forsett back.  The man said after one season that "his heart is in Baltimore"!  Well Ozzie, if his heart is here, bring his body back!!!

I think many forget Rice's patented 1 yard and trip for another. Personal issues aside, he was slowing down and not nearly the bargain. It has been mentioned but Forsett is lightyears beyond rice as a blocker.

I will also toss my gratitude Justin's way and I agree that his blocking skills got my attention all season. Even beyond appreciating his unexpected contributions on the field, Justin's story of perseverance has endeared him beyond the Raven's fan base. Justin is the kind of guy fans across the nation can root for.

I don't think I want him back without Kubiak. It really depends on the new OC. I'd leave the decision up to him

He is the definition of a system back. he was a master of the system and fit right in. Might not work with Trestman's plans.
