Merged: Brandon Marshall reportedly being traded to the Jets

467 posts in this topic

he'll be way too expensive, there's zero chance we can afford him. And again this is another guy that has a past of domestic violence. If we had that much money to throw around for a receiver then we could get a good younger target with a clean past like Cobb or Thomas (if the Broncos decide to pursue Julius instead, they probably can't afford both FAs)

I'd rather we save money and take a WR in the draft like Jaelen Strong

Most players would take less money to win though!!!

How come Amendola and Edelman dominated? They were Bradys guys and they would not come up in a conversation for "the guy". Bradys short 1.7 second passes and Bellichicks play calls got them a game. Its nice to have a "name" but the win is based on a QBs decision and the planned routes afforded to him .

Isn't this why we drafted camp?

I don't want to make light of the domestic abuse issues, but the guy has real documented mental health issues.

and he has dealt with them and they haven't been a story line for years.

Boldin is 6'1" but he plays tall because he boxes out defenders and skies up for balls like they are rebounds. Flacco has not had a target like him since his departure. Remember the ball Owen Daniels dropped and we had to settle for the field goal?  That was the throw Boldin scored twice on vs the pats in 2012.

agree that Flacco needs a bona fide bail out receiver and that receiver is most certainly not torrey smith.............torrey is a great weapon but he can't be your "last resort" gamer.

Steve Smith is great....but theres no margin for error as game as he is.

Agree. Torrey proved that in the Indy game I would think....and of course many times before that he's not the clutch last resort WR.

MOST players that have had success and large contracts but lack postseason success.

And they're usually bordering on retiring such as with steve smith

Back years ago. After Bears acquired him I remember thinking man wish we could have gotten him instead of Boldin ( because of age, possibility of more years ).

Of course Boldin help fuel our SuperBowl with his will and determination so can't complain there.

You know what would be better than trading for a 31 year old receiver? Drafting our own young receiver.

It be nice to draft a young WR but can he be developed by the coaches or utilized enough to make an impact. Torrey smith early on showed plenty of potential ( for a guy that was pegged as a speedster with drop problems ) fast forward 4 years and his development has been marginal year to year.

Just never know what you going to get in the draft example: Jon Baldwin looked like a beast at Pittsburgh 6'5 230 winning jump balls beating guys deep seemed like a V.Jackson type skills. Chiefs and 49ers never got a thing from him.

Draft experts : were down on Jeffrey when he came out because of weight ( he was injured his last year of college still put up good numbers ) now he's a stud.

This past year Carolina took K.Benjamin some felt a reach in first round, some felt ultra talented a steal but drops too many passes ( well he did drop a lot of passes but he became the go to WR as a Rookie also )

Every year there are big talented WRs that were once 1st, 2nd round predictions that fall to late in the draft or go undrafted. Steelers got M.Bryant late. Colts picked up D.Moncrief. Last year Bears got M.Wilson late that they hope will develop.

For everyone saying he's getting up there in age, he's turning 31 in March... not exactly ancient. And up until this year, he's proven to be extremely durable and still capable of putting up big numbers. I think it'd be a dream to get this guy, but not going to happen unfortunately...

Gotta be honest... I don't buy it. I don't think he's getting cut.

I haven't heard any credible reports suggesting he is so far. Doesn't mean he won't, but I'm just not seeing it right now.

Even if he is cut, I don't want him. Although he's the type of player we need, we need our younger guys to get better. And if we do sign a WR, it'd better be a young one. We need building blocks, not band aids.

Like Boldin right? Oh wait.......

Wasn't talking about our team and boldin didnt take a pay cut to come to Baltimore. So nice try.

Now again as I said, when an established player takes a pay cut to chase a ring its because they're usually on the verge of retiring.

Boldin contract with us was essentially the same dollar amount az offered and he was traded to sf because he wouldn't take a pay cut. Don't let facts get in the way of you talking trash tho..

I wrote that he didn't take less money to come to Baltimore AND he was traded because he also declined a pay cut later.

So again boldin left az because he wanted money to match Fitzgerald, boldin was traded from Baltimore because he didnt want a pay cut.

Boldin didnt take less to come here for a ring.

He is a cancer.

I think of him as a show off like Owens and Ocho Cinco.  Your right he is a all for himslef dude that does not work with a unified team like The Ravens .  I love it   Pasty Face lost to the Colts     Go Colts  keep the Baltimore heritage intact.  Luck is a class guy!

I'm a huge fan of Boldin and I'm grateful for the SB run that he helped us go on,but I still feel Marshall was the guy we should've traded for in back in 2010 when the two were up for grabs. Now that he might be on the market again it would be in our best interest to find a way to bring him to our team this offseason. He could be to a 30 year old Flacco what Moss was to a 30 year old Brady in 07.This is our best chance at getting an elite #1 WR.We need to extend Yanda and Ngata's contracts and find a way to make this work.

The problem is Britt is A) made of glass, and B) has graduated from the Randy Moss school of "it's okay to take 10 plays off a game".

Britt has a Masters Degree from that school.

I'd take Marshall.  A guy like Steve Smith will keep him in control and really to be honest since he's figured out he is bipolar I haven't read anything about him that was alarming and it actually sounds like he's quite aware of his position and acts accordingly.  There's no corner in our division that could cover Marshall 1 on 1.

Joe Haden?

Why spend money on Marshall when you can draft Kevin White or Tony Lippett.

I'm not going to pretend like I keep up with college players, but perhaps the concern is that those people won't be available when the Ravens are on the clock. And if they don't draft a stud, Marshall will be long gone.

Haden might, but Haden has a hard time covering Torrey...which is weird.  I think Marshall matches Haden's physicality and then some.  He's tough to bring down.

Lol that is bizarre. It reminds me of how Mark Clayton would run circles around the Bengals... which reminds me of Leon Hall and company.

That said, I still think B-Marsh would be addition by addition.

Yeah, just wishful thinking on my end. I see them going between the tenth and twentieth pick.
