Merged: Brandon Marshall reportedly being traded to the Jets

467 posts in this topic

I mean Harbaugh thought Pollard was a distraction. Let that sit for a second. Pollard. Marshall will be the Kanye West in that locker room...

Bad example... Chiefs & Texans must've thought the same when they released him. Also I'm pretty sure he recently asked for his release by the Titans, so Pollard's "diva-ness," shouldn't be downplayed.

Marshall has a past but that doesn't stop us from going out and talking with them. Signing Smitty last season proves that.

Fairly certain it was Pollard who instigated that so called "mutiny" ordeal.  Coaches will never forget that, ever.  Especially when it's a guy who has only been on the team for a year at the time.  Reed kind of jumped on the bandwagon with it and it all spiralled.  Reed didn't even hit in games, don't think Harbaugh was going to make him hit in a midweek pads practice.

I miss Pollard.

Same.

with matt elam playing SS its quite easy to say that eh?

Most definitely.

Also, who knows the player Pollard would've inevitably injured against NE....Could've changed the entire game and ultimately, Super Bowl....

I'd argue he did change the Super Bowl a few years ago. Gronk wasn't playing healthy against the Giants that year.

Pollard definitely set a tone for us ... much similar to what Chancellor does for SEA. One thing I don't miss is those unnecessary roughing/illegal hit flags that seemingly happened every game.

I didn't mind his unnecessary roughness penalties at all because it came with such physical play that scares the caca out of people. It was for the greater good for us.

Any one of us would jump out of their seats at the smallest chance that their front office would even interview Brandon Marshall let alone sign him. BMarsh is hands down one of the most refined WRs in the league today no question our offense would be sooo much better with him next to Steve smith.

But obviously there is some baggage that comes with Marshall that Ozzie and Co may not like. Obviously we are talking about him potentially getting cut for being a lockerroom headcase which makes the 3rd team to abandon his juggernaut skills for a more peaceful team environment. #2 he is coming off an injury, and third he is most likely going to cost a fortune to sign.

Unfortunately we have a lot of our own FAs to resign like Justin Forsett, Mcphee, and even Torrey Smith to name a few, and Ozzie will likely start there and by the time we could even glance at BMarsh we will likely not have enough to afford him.

Now if somehow we did sign him or even think about it, we would be flirting with a Joe Flacco pro bowl year in 2015 and the most dynamic Ravens offense we have ever seen. But its a pipe dream.

I favor Jaelon Strong in the draft  Check him out!!

However, when he did that you and I loved it. Although a penalty resulted, the Ravens personna was all there.  All we needed was some blood on the field.  Pollard was one to Avoid.

Comparing Pollard to Elam is like a 60's muscle car to a Fiat 500

winning environments change players. how do you think suggs would be acting if he had spent his whole career on losing teams? he probably wouldnt be praised as a leader thats for sure, he would probably be known as nothing more than a loudmouth.

elite players on bad teams are a bad mix, especially if they are wr's and they are the best player on the team, sure marshall has been a fool and a diva, but he knows he is the best chance at winning because he has practically been the only competent player on any team hes been on, of course he will demand the ball, he wants to win.

do you really think he would be complaining about other players getting the ball too often when we are 12-4 and going deep in the playoffs? dont think so.

Well I think it works both ways. Winning environments can shape ordinary jimmys and joes into having a winners mentality. But if your personality is strong enough already (for better or worse), then I think you can actually help or hurt an environment. Environments can shape players, but certain players can also shape environments. So I think Marshall has more to do with his teams mediocrity than it might appear. Was he THE reason they never made the playoffs in Denver or Chicago? No. THE reason the Dolphins had two losing seasons in his two years there? Of course not. He's just one player (and not even a QB at that). But I don't think it's a coincidence.

So the thing is, I'm not sure we can get to 12-4 with Marshall, crazy as it may sound.

It was definitely a love hate situation. It could be 3rd and 15 with an out of bounds catch and Pollard would crush the guy and give them a 1st down; A part of you was angry but you love that he claimed another victim.

i think we can do it with or without him, what im saying is, if we get there with him, i dont think he'll be complaining about the ball not coming his way.

and it is a coincidence, the teams were losing before, during, and after marshalls times with them, aside from a few streaks in denver and when mccown was lighting it up in chicago, he has always been on bad teams, and it wasnt his negative presence that caused it, it was head coaches such as josh mcdaniels and whoever was down in miami, it was a lack of other options on offense on all of those teams(except for his time in chi), it was the horrible defense and OL in chicago that had cutler on his back playing from behind, it was cutler with his absolute lack of desire to do anything but collect a check, it was a longtime overall joke of a team in miami who seems to constantly need a scapegoat for their failures(dannell ellerbe, youre next).

it may just truly be a coincidence, denver was bad before he arrived, and became worse as a team when marshall left, until peyton arrived. miami, well, nothing can save them. chicago has been teetering on the edge of becoming a dumpster fire, and the one great year they had, marshall just happened to be the focal point of all the offensive production they had. marshall really has been on horrible teams with zero discipline and zero pride, he doesnt know what a culture of excellence feels like, now that he is getting older and becoming a more mature person, that culture of excellence and the prospect of a super bowl has to be enticing to him, much more enticing than letting cutler continue to bring him down and chasing a few extra dollars to carry a garbage team to a .500 season by himself.

He claimed victims like the grim reaper.   Your in NF Canada.    Niagra Falls is frozen.   I loved the downtown as it is like a miniture Hollywood.

Ain't that the truth. I think I swore at him more than Michael Oher during his time here.

when I think of Pollard I think of the hit he did vs NE in the playoffs where he knocked the RB out. I have no idea who their RB was but it changed that game and the rest was history.

Hah! Crazy that its frozen right? Yeah, its a decent little spot. "Clifton Hill" is an interesting place and the Casino's also make it a go to spot.

I really don't think Marshall will end-up here. They would have to cut him 1st and his signing would play more havoc on our cap then where we are now. I'm wondering now how he ever got his own thread here.

I could be wrong, but Marshall a Raven is just not happening.

I think the talk is obviously way premature, and I'm not exactly sure why there's an entire topic devoted to him.

I don't see him as a Raven either, because I think the Bears keep him.

It was from a joke he made on TV with Harbs. I wonder if he thought it would trigger a 17+ page thread of discussion here lol

Offseason is the worst. At least the rugby is starting back up over here though!
