You think every unit played to perfection except Boller and co? I would give the overall offense a B+ because anytime your kicker has 5 attempts then your doing something wrong in the redzone. Defense maybe an A-.

Or the opposing defense is doing something right. You can't expect to get in the end-zone every posession. If you do, you are living in la-la land. I am also basing my opinion on performance too. Boller does not look comfortable. He is scrambling around for his life like he doesn't know where his options are. If you read the Draft Tracker on him from '03 they mention' in Cal, the offense only required him to read half the field. If that is true than he never succeeded as a QB reading the whole field. Maybe he never will. That is a weakness he needs to strengthen.

instead of rating the offense as a whole id rather rate the QBs who led each one.

Steve McNair gets an A+, that first drive set the tone of the rest of the game

Kyle Boller gets a C, hes still got the same inconsistencies i saw from last year, had a chance to put a TD on the board and left with 3pts, not good enough in my opinion for a 2nd string

Troy Smith gets a C+, his passing game wasnt very effective, but he did make some very nice moves with his feet and showed his mobility is definately a threat

Drew Olson I give a B, he posted a solid quarter of play and added the only other TD for our team and even managed to get Stover a few more kicks. He showed poise in the pocket and made mostly good decisions, good job.

Our defense all around was amazing, with the 2 linebacker draft picks Barnes and Burgess showing impressive skills along with everyone else trying to step up. We kept Philly to 3pts despite relying on the less experienced players to do the dirty work most of the game. I think this illustrates how deep our defense really is and how deep it will be once the cuts are made and were into the real thing. A+to the Ravens D

Special teams gets a C+, nothing spectacular happened but we didnt let them get any freebies either.

Last grade I'm gonna give is for the whole team and the effort and enthusiasm they showed throughout, and thats an A+ because I havent seen one of our preseason games being so energized in a long time, everybody gave it their all and we came away with a dominating performance that just shows how far we want to go this year. ALL THE WAY TO THE BIG GAME!

I can't follow your logic. Boller goes 7 for 11, Smith goes 3 for 11, yet somehow Smith gets a higher rating from you? I agree on the C for Boller, but Smith has to get an "F" for his first Ravens competitive action, sorry. Hopefully he will improve.

you have a point, i guess the fact that boller was given the ball in philly territory and still could do nothin with it stuck in my head more than Smith's shoddy performance. However I wouldnt give him an F as my grade reivision, for my aformentioned reasons, he at least deserves a D. there were times when there was a total breakdown of the play and smith, caught in the pocket, had taken it up the field himself for a first, or at the very least got away from defenders to avoid the sack. his passing sure could use some help, but at least his awareness seems on par

i would give the Offense a A-, they surely showed what they are able to do when they have the ball....93 yards and a TD,

2nd String Offense....B, Boller had a few mistakes that need tweaking here and there

3 and 4th string Offense...B+ Troy showed us a lil of his run ability, and atheletism but moving the ball and Olson showed us what he is cabable of doing

Overall Defense A-.......our 1st string was GREAT stopping the Eagles from advancing downfield and forcing them to punt, 2nd and 3rd string Defense was also GREAT sacking the QB 4 times throughout the course of the game and holding teh Eagles to only 3 points in the entire game......a showing of great tallent, atheletic ability and skill and knowledge of the game

By all means this was the exact Showing that everyone and the Ravens were hoping/looking to see

Looks like a great season is ahead of us Raven fans

GO RAVENS!!!!

What I saw from Troy was 3 passes that went through the receivers hands and two passes that should have been thrown away. I also noticed that none of his passes appeared to be in danger of being intercepted. I also noticed that he appeared a little less antsy than I expected for his first outing. His ability to avoid the sack and not turning the ball over was also evident. Then again I think I missed one of his passes completely and only saw half of another.

Troy had a lil harder time (it seemed like) in that game, we all saw his potential and what he could do...Keep in mind that ALL of the coaches have been impressed with him on the practice field, he just needs a little more time in Development and learning from the Pro's and He'll do just fine....All of the Ravens Staff have been impressed by his play making ability and Billick said that Troy is coming along really nicely, He'll do just fine, you'll see

GO Ravens!

sounds familiar to me.... and after 4 or 5 years Boller hasnt come very far has he? I just think its pushing it to tag Smith as the QB of the future when hes been outperformed by an unknown. Give the unknown a chance! Olson for 3rd string woo! haha.

in all seriousness though, if Smith proves himself and can stay consistent and prove hes not just another Boller flunkee then by all means ill not object to him getting the job.

either way, only time will tell, so lets continue this discussion after both QBs finish their preseason reps. by then there will be more scenarios for them to have gone through and more to speculate about whos more deserving of that coveted no. 3 QB spot.

on a side note....why not keep olson and smith and just get rid of boller? if anything smith or olson can stick to the practice squad for year til boller goes then we'll have 3 (hopefully) reliable QBs in our hands.

i think that Troy will do better than Boller has done, for one, he wasnt Forced into the Starting Line up right away and under ALOT of pressure to perform well and get this team to where it needed to be....Troy Smith has a Proven Starter/playoff player/ Pro Bowler and a QB who has been to a Super Bowl (but didnt win) so with Troy Learning from that kind of Player, i believe that He should do just fine.....All of you must remember and Keep this in Mind....This is Troy's Rookie season, 1st season in the NFL, One to which is a learning experience and one that Smith is Learning that College Football is just a Little different from playing Football in the NFL, the Offensive Schemes and plays, he's Taking notes on how to play and what to do and what not to do in certain Situations, from McNair and Boller both, which in turn has Benifited Smith Greatly, and even after his rookie season i would expect Troy to Keep learning and taking notes of how to play the Position from one of the Greats in the game....i would expect his 2nd season to be kinda like this season except next season i would also expect Smith Get a Feel for the Offensive schemes and have alot better timing in releasing the Ball when he needs to, making Better and More Smarter Decisions in his Play Making Ability...i would expect Smith Next season to be alot better player than what he is now (Rookie, Still getting a Feel for everything, adjusting to the Tempo and what not exc...) next season expect Smith to Make Better Decisions and Bigger Plays for the team....we all just have to sit back and chill, seems like where all bashing on a Rookie who hasnt even played a Full preseason game, let alone a Full season...The Ravens Training and Coaching staff, have Been impressed with Troy's Ability thus far and the Coaches are taking note of that.....Billick wouldnt have said what he said and even DRAFTED him Troy IF he didnt think Troy was Worth it...The Entire Ravens Team, Staff and Coaches ALL see Smith's Potential and with him Learning from a player like Steve McNair...The Possibilities are endless for a player of Troys Calibur and a Player with that much Talent as Troy...Give it time

I thought the team looked great, and the younger players were impressive. I was very impressed with the play of Ronnie Prude, Cory Ross and Derrick Martin

I think all this Troy Smith crap is blowing up personally. He was a great college player, in my opinion a product of the system. He had outstanding talent around him including a top 10 draft pick wide reciever and a tremendous coach/offensive coordinator. Right now, Troy Smith is a practice squad player, so the talk of him "learning" from Steve is trash, he won't even be on the team to learn anything as of yet.

its not blowing up, or at least shouldnt be. this is a very good opportunity for a great preseason rivalry for the 3rd qb spot. i look forward to watching the next game and the ones thereafter to see how they perform. furthermore, i enjoy the tremendous opportunity for the Ravens to take it to the house this year, if our offense proves the potential we all think it has; if our defense is as stunning and deep as its ever been with or without AD all around; and with Stover booting his kicks very nicely, despite his claims of missed kicks in practice;

ITS GONNA BE A GOOD YEAR FOR THE RAVENS

;)
