-It's not cheating.  It was perfectly legal.  It was classic Patriots football - massaging every conceivable boundary of the rulebook to obtain some sort of advantage.  Be it pre-Spygate "legal" filming, working the NFL to get special treatment for Brady, yesterday's substitution crap - that is what Patriots football is all about.

It is legal and they deserve to advance.  Is it how John Wayne would do it?  Is it what football is all about?  No.  It's scheister crap, it is chump change, it is weak sauce.  But it counts.

These situations always happen when we play the patriots which is why I hate that entire organization. It's pretty equal to the steelers but there's a key difference. I hate the steelers because they are our division rivals (historically our toughest) but I have respect for them. I do not respect the patriots because they always do something questionable everytime we play them even if it's something minor. I never feel this way against other teams. But the whole world loves them and thinks they are so great and superior to us.

Cocky and an ego-maniac"

That whiner was making fits to the refs all game. There is always an exception to the rule. Him cussing the hell out of the refs and not getting a single nod of penalty was a joke.

What a punk. He gets up in McPhee's face acting the part of a tough guy. What an entitled brat--as if he would for one second entertain the thought of getting in his face anywhere else.

Your logic is flawed. If required to report immediately then there is no issue as he talked to the official immediately after breaking the huddle. That would suggest that the league is all for reporting it secretly so defenses don't know its happened.

On tackle eligible plays they clearly say number "xx" has reported eligible. The concern with what the pats did isn't about legality but about how the refs are supposed to handle it.

Except for the fact that according to what I've read, he didn't immediately report.

and then some, he just rubs it in. during the presser afterwards he stated 'the ravens need to study the rules", then went on saying " obviously we know what we're doing and we made important plays" and "we'll have something else in store next week" just proves his complete delusional narcissistic, diva mentality. how can anyone be a fan of this guy outside of new england?

the fact that brady screamed into the face of a referee for a good 5-6 seconds, simply because he got sacked, without getting penalized is more controversial than the "eligible receiver' dilemma

WOW, this thread is amazing, talk about grasping!!! You are upset because an NFL coach came up with a creative way to use a formation that was clearly within the rules. I would be willing to bet my house and my golf clubs that if Harbaugh did the same thing, you all would be calling him a great coach and praising him for doing it. But since it was the Pats, and the game was lost and there were no other "excuses" to use other than what has already been written here many times about DC coaching decisions, its easy to grasp at the "ineligible" rule.

And to be TOTALLY FAIR, if the Ravens did the same thing, i would be here myself complaining about it and calling it unfair and looking to throw it against the wall and hope it stuck......even though i know its legal, but that is what HOME FANS DO!!!!

It's really not hard to understand.  What they did was legal, the way they did it was not.

Yea it's funny. It's what they've always done as an organization and is their brand. I am proud that even with a shell of a secondary we forced them to dig so deep into their bag of tricks to win.

Ill be honest, i did actually move on from the whole hating Brady etc. But what was the reasoning with being such a D. with that comment.  What , advancing to the AFC Championship wasnt enough for you to be happy that you have to talk crap.  LOL, Oh i see, now your going to take jabs and insult the RAVENS after the game is played.  Riiiiiight, i see. If your going to be a D.... then be a man and talk crap before the game.

What ever respect i gained for BRADY the last few yrs is completely gone now, guess im back to hating Brady all over again and trust me, i wont move on from it again.  It took me yrs to get over that b.s. crying for a Flag when Suggs literally brushed Bradys leg and then actually getting a flag after crying. What a pus. Unreal.

There's always something to cry about, isn't there? We need something to cry about. So, let's cry about the other team instead of our own guys who missed tackles. Give me a break.

I'll take it as a sign of high respect that the #1 seed, at home, has to pull a stunt like this on us, a clearly depleted team, just to gain advantage.

Dean Peas had no idea what he was doing yesterday and lost to cheap tactics. He clearly isnt the DC we need.

We know the rule you dope. Harbaugh wanted the refs to start doing their jobs and after informing the defense who was eligible and who wasn't they have to give them time to adjust. With Brady running the no huddle, wow you used the refs again to steal a game, the defense should have been given time to adjust. That comment by Brady just shows how self centered he is that he can do anything to win and the end justifies his means. I don't dislike him because he won it is his personality I don't like.

Actually, if you are here whining about it then you DONT know the rule. If you want to blame the refs, fine, but you can not blame the Pats, and again, if Harbaugh did the same thing you would be viciously defending it......so let it go. And what about the people here actually complaining the the Pats used a trick play and saying thats the only way they could win..really??????  If I go through Ravens archives, will i EVER find a flea-flicker?? And if I do, will i find a post on here saying the ravens need to resort to such plays???

He's soft.  Since that 2007 season when he kind of vaulted into the Peyton Manning area of statistics he's been soft as baby poo.

No you will not find a flea flicker. Ever. Guarantee it. Cam Cam would never use such a thing.

You are forgetting the fact that after brought to their attention the refs put a stop to the manner in which the Pats were substituting. Meaning, it was not on the up and up.

It's not so much the fact that they did it, but that Brady had to get so snotty about it afterward.

And this after his crybaby temper tantrum in the 2nd qtr.

Let's be honest, the Pats don't care if we think they're cheaters. Brady doesn't care if we think he manipulates the refs. That group up there will do anything to win and take pride in it.

It's really not about what they think, it's about the preferential treatment these scum bags get. What do you suppose would have happened if it was McPhee, and not brady that contacted the ref and screamed in his face?  Safe to say his butt would have been watching the rest of the game rather than playing.

There is no question in my mind this is factual.

This puts an end to this topic........time to invent some other controversy.

Let's say we agree to race from here to the wall, and agree that I will count to three before we go.  Then I say "onetwothreego" as fast as I can and beat you to the tree.  Was it legal?  Yes.  Does it technically count as a win?  Yes.  Is that how we ought to conduct races?  No.

I think Harbaugh is wrong to infer that the tactic was illegal, because that puts the onus on him to substantiate it and as a technical matter he is incorrect.  What he should have said was that the way the Patriots handled the substitution was technically legal but that the NFL needs to look at ways to prevent it from happening again in future.

Clearly the Patriots caught the Ravens and the officials both unaware, and they were within the letter of the law in doing so.  That said, this is just another cheap Patriots victory from a cheap Patriots team with a cheap coach, a cheap quarterback, and a history of manipulating every last corner of the rulebook to their advantage.  Did they win?  Yes.  Is it anything to be proud of?  No.  It is cheap, underhanded crap.

No it doesn't put an end to it because as I already pointed out to you IN THE RULEBOOK it might be legal, but it is still unethical.

And yeah, like the NFL would EVER say Bellicheat was cheating. They only got called out on the spygate thing because there was video evidence.

Let's face it

you Ravens fanatics...Harbs was out smarted and out coached by Bilichick...why that game was lost...The team looked prepared...great job...too much focus on that and not his own coaching...
