Brady to Ravens: 'Study the rule book and figure it out'

610 posts in this topic

Or do they?

I mean, we can argue they didn't have to in the Indy game but I do recall wondering why a couple of Tucker's kickoffs weren't going out of the endzone where they got a runback.

I have to imagine that if it makes the ball easier to grip for passing and catching, it makes it easier to hold onto while running as well.

Like I said, it is impossible to know if they are up to other shenanigans outside the rules that they simply have not been caught doing yet too.

I remember wondering why he wasn't booting them out the endzone that game as well. MY only point against that is don't we use our own balls?

No I don't mean at a press conference. I mean like Indy did - right away, through all the official channels.

Ok.. no idea. Brady dosent throw that pick this doesn't happen. Lmao

No kicking balls are special. Ref opens them 2 hrs 15 mins before kickoff, checks them, retains them until handing them off to a ball attendant at kickoff.

So...who is the ball attendant? Someone from the home stadium?

You want some entertainment... go read a Patriots forum right now. 'cause the denial is setting in strong. Apparently, from what I can gather, once again the NFL Cabal is setting the Patriots up like they always do. The NFL apparently hates the Patriots as do all the media outlets.

I kid you not.

Over at NFL.com they're blaming the refs. The Pats fans are saying the ref didn't check them properly. I guess he only checked Indy's balls then lol

I think my favorite report is the video of Mortenson on ESPN's site ... he sounds so uncomfortable talking about the Patriots in this light.

I think they fear for their job when reporting about certain teams or players in the NFL.

Jerome Bettis called them felons since they were caught cheating. I've never seen a team questioned by so many of their peers in the league for cheating. Wiring locker rooms, taping practices, using frequencies to get calls in after the allowed time, using frequencies to hear other teams audibles and defensive calls and now deflating balls? It's not like all this is just coming from one team either.

A cloud surrounds these guys and I honestly hope they never win another ring again under Kraft, BB and Brady. It would only be justice that for every ring they have, they have just as many losses in the big game.

yeah but TOs can change a game in a heartbeat. The point of deflation is making the ball easier to grip.

And we were knocking the ball loose in this game . Maybe we get a couple more fumbles and recover one or two

This study the rule book comment is so hilariously ironic now. LOL.

What brady meant to say is study the rule book and figure out which rules you can break without anyone noticing.

Get on board!  It's the patriot way.

You can bet there are a multitude of sins, past and present, that will never make it to light. All I can say is what scum bags.

11 out of 12 balls deflated is not a coincidence. They cheated and should be punished severely.

If they done this at a colts game, they did it vs us. To know they sqeaked out a win by unfair advantage ruins the integrity of the game.

NFL needs to outright suspend the patriots from entering the next game and show people cheating doesnt get you to the Superbowl..noatter how big or small the cheating is.

Patriots has outright cheated multiple times now. It has to end now. Kill the team and make sure it doesn't happen again.

The patriots deserve zero credit for team building  or super bowl wins. Anything they have ever accomplished is done by cheating.  Belicheck and Adams are serial cheats.

You can bet there's a while lot more cheating going on and has went on in the recent past than was put out for public consumption.    The NFL offices and other teams in the league understand they have serial cheats on their hands..

The whole patriot way (I'll add the media who has helped create the image) is as disgusting  as it gets when it comes to team sports.

New England is on a roll running their reputation through the mud. I would seriously reconsider who is leading my team with all of the dirt that has been brought to light since the Brady/Belichick era. However...it's great to watch. Go Ravens

I think that are both things that should be addressed at the owners meeting this year!

The Patriots got the goalposts increased one year ago after losing against us…so maybe gameballs should only be handled by the NFL officials only and they should put a neutral Ballguy on the Sideline.

And they need to fix the Eligible – Uneligible Receiver thing … calling only numbers in the heat of the game doesn’t help…if there is an exotic (not in a normal situation) formation make the D really aware of who is eligible – maybe find a fast way to communicate with the D captain…  and give the D some time to adjust!

Thank God our legal system doesn't operate this way...

Great thing is, none of this is happening.

In terms of the footballs, I agree. This is a fairly easy fix for the league if they want to... just stop giving teams access to footballs.

NFL provides the footballs, NFL officials inspect them to make sure they are at whatever standard they set, and its done.

NFL doesn't come off looking particularly great with this incident... it brings to light another really stupid rule that defies logic, and it also makes their officials look bad, since they touch the exact same balls after every single play, and they didn't notice any difference.

You under reacting to everything is just as bad as the as the people who overreact to things. You're not that much different than the people you try to call out.If football was politics they'd be extreme left wingers and you'd be an extreme right winger.

No, I'd be the moderate who doesn't vote...

Does anybody realistically think that things like "make them replay the game" or "disqualify them from the SB" are intelligent, rational, viable punishments for what they allegedly did?

That's the equivalent of the penalty for stealing a pen being having your hand cut off.

Perspective folks. Not everything needs to be extreme.

What would my solution be? Take away a late round draft pick (though that's pretty much only because they are an alleged repeat offender), and have the NFL change its policies regarding balls anyway, since they make no sense to begin with.

Two first round draft picks

We know that's not happening.

I've seen people present cap space penalties as an option, and I think that one actually makes the most sense.

This, of course, is still pending the outcome of the investigation. We've only seen them say that the balls were deflated at this point... I haven't seen anything so far that says they know who did it. For all I know, they might come out and blame the game officials for poor inspections...

They are gonna lose one 1st round draft pick minimum . Watch . NFL management is beyond angry on this one . It's been a bad year for them with Rice , Peterson , etc, Patriots are repeat offenders as well .

So if the cowboys and Redskins get torn up for spending wildly in an uncapped "but collusion filled mythical cap"  Patriots are actively and continually cheating. No more fines for them , take cap space and draft picks.

Brady, thanks for the advice to read the rule book. In fact we found this little rule about underinflating the football. Brady, take your own advise and read the rule book....oh and follow it

I highly doubt it, and I would be stunned by it. Spygate, which was far worse by everybodies account, got far less punishment, and I have no reason to suspect this will be worse.

I haven't heard anything that suggests NFL management is furious over this, because as far as I can tell, the investigation into it isn't even complete yet.

Judging by some of the reactions I've seen from both current/former players and former coaches, most of them are sort of laughing this off (rightfully or wrongfully so), because I think they know how often things like this actually happen and the public doesn't.

If I bet on it, I'd probably go hefty fine as the punishment. Anything above losing a 4th round draft pick would surprise me, though I could see them perhaps going after cap space.

And you already know that the Peterson/Rice issues are completely separate from this. Those are national issues that the NFL simply botched. Any punishment they come up with for this will be forgotten by the time they kickoff next weekend, and it will be an afterthought.

It's a different NFL world after much of the off field happenings .

1st round pick loss gonna happen .
