Harbaugh appreciation thread

What a job he's done.

Beginning in the offseason adding Kubiak to the staff. Keeping his team focused and ignoring the outsiders in the face of countless adversity. Leading us to the NFL Elite 8 for the 6th time in 7 years.

Say what you want about him. He's a damn good coach and we're fortunate to have him...... Here's to another great 7 years under his regime.

I would say he's coach of the year but of course I'm biased.

Harbs is a great coach. He knows how to keep the players focused. He is quick to give credit to his players and coaches. And just as quick to defend them. He is also an honorable man. There is not another coach that I would rather have leading the Ravens. Hope we are fortunate to have him for years to come.

I like Harbs but right now all I can think is he's the one who brought us Pees and he doesn't have a great track record in fixing those kind of mistakes quickly. (read remember Cam).

But all in all - Harbs is the man.

I am so glad we have Harbaugh as our coach... Love him to death.  Classy guy...  Can't imagine anyone else leading our guys.

In his post game some reporter(s) kept trying to bait him into player bashing or calling out a player here or there, but he never bit.

THAT is quality leadership.

We have an awesome head coach.

I truly believe Harbaugh brings out the best of our players. Not only is he a great motivator, but he's a great man and leader. I love his statements such as "Flacco is the best qb in the league, we will take him any day of the week," and "Suggs' interception was the best interception in the history of the NFL." These statements may be over the top to some (mainly media who takes everything too literal). But to me, and most Ravens fans, we realize Harbaugh does this because he loves our guys, cares for them, and he motivates them just as good as any coach in the NFL. NO ONE wants to play the Ravens in the playoffs. I give a lot of credit to our coaching staff, and Harbaugh is the main man. I am very proud of our guys this year thru the ups and downs. Here's to next year!

I think his loyalty is what attracts a lot of big name coaches here. He might be too loyal at times, (like with Cam) but I think he should also be credited with making that bold move at such a rare time. Whether that came from upper management or not is fair to speculate, but whatever it was, it turned out to be for the best. Also sticking with Castillo and rejecting Hostler were great moves.

He likes to hire from within which I'm sure is the most respected way to do it. Obviously we disagree, but I believe promoting Pees after Paganos departure was the right decision.

Love Harbaugh and don't want any other head coach but no, it wasn't the way to go. Pees is not Pagano in any stretch of reality. Not even close. Their philosophies are not even vaguely similar and that is part of the problem as well. Our personnel is not set for the soft [slur removed] bend but don't break. That doesn't play to their strengths. And it is all that Pees knows.

edit: wait - a word that is the name of a flower is a slur???? Crazy.

There's a lot of coaches in the NFL that know everything about the game but there isn't a single one among them that strikes me as a man with more integrity and dedication to his players, staff and fans than our coach. Exceptional job this season, Harbs. I smell SB hunt next year.

Props to Harbaugh for a good run this year, but let's also give major props to Ozzie Newsome and Steve Biscotti. Newsome got his fair share of criticism this year, but he's still one of the top GMs in the business, and Biscotti is easily one of the best owners.

If any doubt, just look at the Redskins with Synder, Bruce Allen, and their turnstile at HC.

HARBS WILL go down as one of the greatest coaches in league history. You can book that. The people that have issues with him are the ones that will hate every coach or any coach from their hometown team... It's just how it goes. Harbs is a grinder, a worker , a historian... And a hell of a coach too! We've made it very far with teams that (honestly ) have gaping holes.

When I look at Harbs interact with the players, I see the relationship he has with them. They respect him and want to play for him. Locker room respect is one of the most underrated things about being a good head coach. When you lose the locker room, you lose the season. He kept these guys looking straight ahead when our organization was under fire. I respect the heck out of him for that. By normal standards, we should have had another 8-8 season with all these distractions and injuries. THAT is coaching. I am so happy to have a head coach that is down to earth and takes responsibility for his actions. We stay in playoff contention just about every year and when people call for his head, it makes me confused. We have a GREAT head coach. There are teams that would kill for him. There are teams that fire their head coach once every couple years. We could be like that. I appreciate this amazing staff. You could argue things like the Harbaugh doghouse or him hiring his friends, but the fact remains that we've been in the playoffs 6 of 7 years and have a Super Bowl championship. I trust his judgement and may the Ravens continue to be a great team under his leadership. Go Ravens!

Right now you can give any selections in a fantasy coaching draft and I'd still take Harbs. Ozzie and Harbs are like what Landry and Brandt were to the Cowboys. Great job overcoming all the obstacles that were laid out this year.

We all know that Harbaugh has his deficiencies at gametime.  But they are minor to me in comparison to what he appears to mean to the players, and how we gets this team prepared for big moments.

But it's more than that.   Steve Smith is here because he liked Harbaugh as part of the organization.   And if you watch the Ravens Wired in the last game, you see SSS hugging Harbaugh on the sideline telling him "you're a heck of a coach.".  And now Smith said he's not retiring and coming back next year.   I'm quite sure who the head coach was made a difference in why Gary Kubiak came to Baltimore too.

Then if nothing else, watch the locker room speech after the game yesterday.  He had everyone's attention, and everyone's respect.  And it was powerful.  But that's what he does.

And he's a winner.  Above all else, he is a winner.  I know next year he will do what's necessary to get the team back into the playoffs next year.   And I'll take that every year.

His pressers and time management as a whole still annoy me but I'm glad he's our coach

His time management is pretty good awful. Not many coaches bungle it that bad, except maybe Mike Smith before he got fired.

His acheivements speak for themselves. He is a current top 5 coach with Belilcheck, Carroll, Fox, and Arians.

Honorable mentions:

McCarthy and Pagano

I love his aggressive coaching decisions this year. No more playing not to lose. We play to win. It meshes perfectly with Flaccos skills. It's the way to win games in this day in age. Harbaugh/flacco IMO easily top 5 combo in the league.

I would say he's coach of the year but of course I'm biased.

After seeing all these HC firings and vacancies even coaches with great records like John Fox and Jim Harbaugh get fired or mutually split...it really makes you genuinely care about John Harbaugh and also Ozzie New some and Steve Bisciotti. Since his hiring our worst record for a season was 8-8. We have been in the playoffs every year but that one, been in 3 AFC Championship games, and if course are the sweet sweet winners of XLVII. And aside from his accolades John just seems so much more unique than other head coaches as a person. He's not as arrogant or even as soft spoken as some of the other HC out there. He brings the perfect mix of everything you want in a good coach.

Even after he gets fired (if ever) I will Always have the upmost respect for John Harbaugh. He's done nothing but great things for our organization.

Harbaugh needs to be applauded and appreciated way more than any other NFL coach this year! He's done so much with so little and dealing with so much adversity, I am stunned he is not a shoo in COY!
