Hurst and urschel

72 posts in this topic

Have to give credit to these two rookies. Came in for the playoffs and played fantastically well, esp Urschel. Building up some great depth on the oline.

Wouldn't mind see Urschel given a shot at centre next season to see how he fares.

Helluva game. I don't think Joe got sacked once. Mad props to them. Outside of the two INTs, I LOVED what the offense did tonight. I tip my hat to the offensive side of the ball.

I'm completely up for Urschel competing for the starting C spot next year.  Hurst played well today but has struggled a lot as well.  I like him best as a backup for next year obviously, with an eye to him being a future starter.

I'd like to see Urschel get a chance at center but I doubt it will happen. Zuttah won't be cut until 2016, because his cap hit is way too big and he will cost us money. I can see us move on from him if we feel like we need cap space in 2016 and think Urschel can replace him. I really like Urschel and was a very big fan of his pre-Draft. I'm really happy to see him do so well. I do wonder what our plans are for him.

I do love the depth we have on the oline. A late-round rookie guard and an undrafted rookie LT came in and did a great job overall. Far from flawless, but they showed we actually beat any team with them out there. Not many teams have a luxury like that

I don't see us cutting Zuttah next year, but I'm still for giving Urschel a shot.  Zuttah has been alright but there's room for improvement.  It'd suck to pay a guy the much to be a backup but I've always been one for letting the best players play.  That may be Urschel if today's game was any indication.

Yeah, I have mixed feelings. You know how much I like Urschel, if you recall the game and what I said about him. I'm a really big fan. I'm just reluctant to believe we'll start him over Zuttah. I'm in agreement that I would give him a chance at the job, but I haven't seen anything yet to suggest that's on the table. I'd certainly like it to be, because I don't think Zuttah gives us a ton of push at times in the middle. I also don't think he will get much better than he is. I just don't think we'll make the move unless we have to do it. We're a pretty conservative franchise and have a lot of conservative coaches who like consistency over potential.

Urschel's ascension makes it less likely that we sign both Yanda and KO to extensions in my opinion.

This is honestly what scares me. I think you might be right on that.

Yeah I agree.  Even if it's not high percentage of it actually happening, I still think Urschel will at least have some semblance of an opportunity to win a job.  Hopefully that reason isn't injury, though.

A luxury I cannot remember ever having... Quality depth on the o line.

Hats off to the boys

This. I'm honking we have great depth and leadership on the line for next year.

Yanda deserves whatever he wants..the 2nd best ravens o liner ever

Given he is in the last year of his contract, I would love to see us try to extend him.

good depth on the O-LINE and D-line. we just need to round out cb and wr. plus we cant forget about mcphee.

it would help tremendously if matt elam and arthur brown could play like above average players as well.

What an absolute surprise for the Ravens.  I don't know if they got the guts to be grow for the next year and improve, but they set themselves a great starting season to get a legitimate chance as a full down player on starting roster.

Especially Urshel.  Just stick with football and not the math junk.  You got a place in NFL.

Two great players. Speaks volumes that Hurst played despite Monroe being active. He looks like he's figured out the whole run blocking thing, too. Greatly improved.

I love Urschel, but I pray his play doesn't spell the end of Yanda in Baltimore. I'd rather play him at center and pay both Yanda and KO.

John Urschel was totally awesome. I'm totally happy for him and what he did. I hope he can get his chance soon. Guy is a great player.

Considering the OLine was our biggest glaring weakness going into last off-season, you can't help feeling optimistic going into next year with this group. I had a feeling Urschel was going to be huge for us - genius! and Hurst was a such a great find.

I hope we manage to keep them all for next year.

Definitely THE story of the Ravens 2014 playoffs along with Yanda moving to tackle. Remarkable job done by a pieced together O line.

Urschel creates a dilemma. Yanda and KO are the best guard tandem and Wagner was good at RT

Center.

These 2 guys were solid. A 5th rdr and a UDFA. Amazing.
