Which of the 19 IR players returning will most help the team?

74 posts in this topic

Not a bad response lol, there are 2 on IR. Scales' snaps were a little high on some of those punts.

But, obviously, Jimmy. Wagner had a great year. Pitta is very good when healthy. Young defenders like Brown, Brooks, Urban, Lewis-Moore have potential to contribute.

We've got something to look forward to.

yeah we had so many injuries and we came so close to the cafc champ game.

I see no reason to be down.

I hope Jimmy Smith returns to form, let alone helps the team. I won't lie; I'm concerned for the long-term success of both him and Wagner. They're my only two concerns, though.

Why?

jimmy

wagner

Jackson

gorrer

don't think pitta will be playing football again.  would hate for him to risk it again. he has a conformation problem that is not compatible with football

Can't name Jimmy or Pitta, so Wagner or Brooks probably. More Brooks means less Elam. Maybe Asa or Gorrer. I don't even remember the long list to be honest.

Lisfranc injuries have tough recoveries.

Meh I feel Wagner won't have any issues coming back ( just worried he may be a 1 year wonder)

Smith will be harder and I'm worried about contract year improvement with him

Jimmy has steadily improved every single year in the NFL, so I am not worried about him doing well in his final year. I'm a little worried Wagner could be a 1-year wonder as well, but the injury also concerns me. His injury was late in the year, too.

Yea but this is the first year he was actually playing up to his pedigree ( an option year)

I'll disagree with you there. I think he played very well last year.

Jimmy.I think Pitta is done. As we need a #1 receiver, if we are unable to land one through the draft, a big playmaking t.e. wouldn't be a bad second option. Daniels doesn't have a lot of tread left either.

Jimmy no question.

I am fearful Pitta might come back with "Webb-itus" and always be scared for his hip.  I worry we might never see the same Pitta.  I would encourage him to prove me wrong though.

J. Smith without a question! But I like Brooks back – I think he needs the same time J. Smith needed to develop!

And for Pitta … I love him like everyone else but I think it`s time for him to move on – it`s the same injury the second time don`t risk real damage for the rest of your live! Sure, every player risk his health on every snap but I think he is at a point in his live where he should make a decision . Return as a coach!

After losing Jimmy Smith to IR it was almost a certainty this team wouldn't make it far in the post season. Having him back healthy with another talented CB or 2 from the draft/free agency could make us a top team in the AFC.

Cant wait to see what we do this off season

Jimmy is the obvious choice. But if we had a bigger back like LT, we might not have had to settle for 3 inside the 5 late in the 4th. Maybe, maybe not, but I feel like we would have tried to pound it a few times if we had him.

I honestly don't want to see Pitta even try to return for TC. He should be put on the PUP list, if not IR. The guy had a full year to recover the first time, and still had the same injury. There is no way we should expect him to be back next year. We need to plan like he's not coming back.

Obviously Jimmy, ... but the biggest question is Pitta.

Can we honestly assume he can really come back from his second serious hip injury? Daniels is FA, Gillmore is still very inexperienced. TE is such a pivotal position in this offense  and I really don't know where that is coming from next year.

If Pitta would be risking significant debilitating effects into his future life by continuing to play, I hope he has the strength to walk away. It will be horrible to see him work all off-season and fight to get back on the field to just have this sort of thing reoccur.

There are the usual guys like Jimmy, Wagner and Pitta, but I'm gonna list some guys I think are underrated.

First and foremost, I have to mention Morgan Cox. I see how important a good longsnapper is when a guy like Patrick Scales snaps it high causing a blocked punt. Go Wolf Pack!

I have a good feeling about Jeremy Butler. He looked great in training camp and preseason. I'd like to see how he develops in his second year.

If KLM and Urban can stay healthy, I think both can be a big part of dline success, especially with McPhee possibly leaving.

Here's one that(based on if he had got some time in and exp) may have helped disrupt those quick passing plays.

Brent Urban - 6'7 295 DE

It would have been nice having someone of that size, along with Canty, using that height to tip short mid-range passes. Im sure if enough of Toms passes were to end up in the dirt or in the hands of defenders, they would have definitely had to switch the game plan. I heard on another thread that Toms strength now is to dink and dunk and hit the slots and gronk on big plays. That seemed like all they did last night outside of that trick play. Having our full Dline back and being able to get pressure as well as clog and disrupt passing lanes will be our key to not just beating but embarrassing Tom and friends next season.

Jimmy Smith completely changes that game.  LaFell catches nothing, we can bracket Gronk the entire game.

1. Jimmy.

2. Pitta.

3. Wagner.

i also endorse Dennis Pitta.  If pasty face P Manning can come back after 3 Neck surgeries I think our MGMT should give him another chance or more as he helped us in Divisional playoff games and especially the honored SB.

If Urban played he may have actually raised his arms to batt down a ball or two.  I did not see that yesterday. With a 1.7 second release point Brady whipped us just like pasty face PManning would do.  BTW: I want the Colts to obliterate him so he can have a retirement.

All of your assessment is absolutely Valid. Cox makes the difference as well. So if Butler somes back, do we need that lights out reciever like B Marshall who some here idolize.  If I was MGMT I prefer a TEAM player

How could you say anyone but Jimmy. Obviously, Wagner and Pitta if he can return will be huge. but not having Jimmy screwed our season over.

I can agree with this. I still think we need a dynamic WR added to the offense and we'll be fine.
