Updated: Who Should Be Our Next OC? It's Trestman

Wonder why this guy didn't get hired as a head coach? Why denver fired him? Why he hasn't seemed to have many interviews for other o cord positions?

Wonder if too many teams were scared of the manning factor?

My thing is that after Fox was pretty much fired, Denver wanted to clean house and get rid of everyone as well, so bringing in Kubiak meant bringing in a new OC more tailored to Kubs offense(Dennison).

The Manning factor is a big part of it, many audibles and a lot of talent on offense, but he was partly responsible for the success of Tebow, another reason...he's pretty young. He's 36, even younger than Peyton....

I would be surprised if F.O doesn't interview Trestman, he's a QB whisperer and knows offensive success, IMO hes 1B with Gase as 1A.

Indeed, the OC position with the Ravens is the creme de le creme positions for any OC who is vying for a head coaching position.  Other than Cam Cameron, each man who has held the position has been selected as a head coach.  I think if I were an OC, awaiting my chance to get to the top and the Ravens come calling, I would be bring my "A-game" to the mainframe.  Just think, Adam Gase, helping Joe to 4K and 30 plus touchdowns, he would be shoe-in for a head coaching position next year.  Besides that, the Ravens are a world-class organization that only accepts excellence withot exceptions.

likely. alot of teams searching for an OC dont have experienced qb's or just lackluster qb play, his system may be viewed as unfriendly to inexperienced qb's. the ravens would be the type of team to overlook factors such as this, because we know we have a smart veteran qb.

this sounds like a classic ravens move, teams overlooking potential because of some odd factors, and that potential lands right in our lap.

He was also a huge lobbyist in bringing Sanders to Denver... Last two years felt he would fit their offense perfectly. Of course there's other factors to account for his success, but Sanders looked great all season.

Not enough to call Gase a nice talent evaluator or a "football visionary" but since we know so little about him, I figured it was worth bringing up.

I trust our guys in this process. If Harbs and friends feel he's right for the job, there's a great chance he is. If they have no problem with his lack of interviews or the "manning factor," neither do I.

We won on Cams system, not Caldwell's.

Maybe the Play calling was diff. but no matter how you spin it, it was Cam's system 100%

Caldwells scheme last year was horrific some may blame injuries but look how bad the Lions were on offense this year. They had the same problems we did. Couldnt run block or pass block.

All of Staffords throws were 20 yards down the field. Horrible coaching on their parts and not finding strengths of the team.

I'm wondering when we'll hear who our new OC is. It's definitely something I can't wait to hear more info on.

Gase is the only one we've interviewed, correct? I haven't seen any other rumors besides Marrone which is now dead....

I'm fully expecting it to be Gase.

all of his reviews and the small sample size of evidence points to him being a smart young football mind.

ive really warmed up to gase, and might i even say, i think joe flaccos ceiling is higher playing with gase than kubiak, and i dont care what anyone says, our offense goes where joe takes it, not the run game, if gase has joe playing at his max potential, then the rest of the offense will work itself out, as long as the o-line performs well enough and we stay healthy.

i think if we bring gase to baltimore, we are discovering footballs next great offensive mind, the guy is only 36, his ideas are fresh, and he is a rumored "qb whisperer" type of guy.

Does he run the same style of WCO that Kubiak does?

I'm not unhappy with the choice if that's the case.  I think he could be excellent.  This was kind of unexpected, though.  I didn't even hear about an interview taking place!

I like Trestman, even though he looks like a vampire.  He's considered to be a QB guru all though last year with Cutler didn't go that well.  That whole team was a mess though, to be fair.

Wow. That was a little surprising. I don't hate the hire but it's strange how we weren't connected to him at all. I'm hoping the concerns about him are unwarranted but I think this puts serious questions on Gase. I hope we get Knapp as our QB coach.

Did we even interview him? My concerns about Gase seem warrented. He hasn't had to stand on his own two feet as a coordinator. Ravens is too big a job Imo.

I was starting to get very concerned about Gase as well.  He's been a hot commodity for HC for the past 2 years and walked away empty handed each time.  He's interviewed for multiple OC positions as well and still, empty handed.  I think it's speaking volumes that no one has really made an effort to bring him on board.

I said that about an hour ago.

I think his vampire look is his strongest quality.  I actually think he should call all plays in a cowl.
