Updated: Who Should Be Our Next OC? It's Trestman

665 posts in this topic

Appears that our best case OC scenario will be Adam Gase. Multiple reports have him choosing between Jacksonville or Baltimore...ain't nobody got time for Blake Bortles, obviously we are the better choice. He could be a solid Kubiak replacement.

I think he was limited by personnel. Also, the running game was not the problem in the playoff loss. Manning couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.

Why would Manning be sitting on the boat when it was being towed to the docks on the highway? :P

Im leaning toward ADAM GASE, Really isnt anyone else left.

Either him or Trestman.

You can not blame it all on Trestman for Cutlers serious faults. Trestman may be a supposed genius, BUT you cant fix stupid.

Not against Trestman. I mean, I'd be pass happy too with freaking Jefferey and Marshall as my WRs.... I suppose Gase wouldn't be terrible. Someone did bring up the point about his adjustments....

People think Gase is a bad candidate? Why?

The Broncos were 4th in yards per game (402.9), 4th in yards per play (6.0), 2nd in points (30 a game), 4th in passing yards (4,661), 5th in yards per passing attempt (7.9), 15th in rushing (1,785), and 20th in YPC (4.0). Those are great numbers. The rushing numbers are a little low, but that's what happens when you have a bad run blocking line and a HOF quarterback. That offense was dynamite.

But going after Gase is scraping the bottom of the barrel, right?

I actually want him but honestly, i just realized , he would be another 1 and done O.C. again. He was supposed to get a h.c. this yr.

Im actually leaning toward TRESTMAN now.  I doubt anyone would want him after 1 yr. i think we could get 2 maybe 3 yrs now.

This is really really getting out of hand with the RAVENS losing half their staff this yr. So this is how we get rewarded for being a good team. I just dont get how the PATS are able to keep their staff yr in yr out.

The N.F.L needs to reward us with draft pick or something. It isnt right or fair. How is this team supposed to compete every yr having to deal with this b.s. ALL THE TIME.

Who ever we sign as a o.c., they need to guarantee us atleast 2 yrs no matter what.

Well heck, i want TRESTMAN even more, i want our Off. to be pass happy. I think we have the personal to be able to do it also. We have the QB so if the Bears would do it. I know we can.

They may have had Jefferey and Marshall but they also had Cutler. We have Flacco.

Also, i think its real possibility they we have a shot at getting Marshall.

None of these candidates are even a quarter the coach that Kubiak was for us. Trying to stay positive and trying to stay real are very hard to do when you're trying to do both at the same time. I definitely see regression

With the options available I see immense regression and we no longer have that defense to compensate for a struggling offense. I am fine with being proven wrong though.

Thinking Jason may have some inside info on this one, since this is the first I know of that Marrone has been mentioned.

I'd be shocked if Doug Marrone was not one of the first candidates the Ravens look to as offensive coordinator. If not the 1st candidate

I don't entirely understand the concept over Manning OC's. I understand he makes plenty of adjustments, but Manning is still running the system that Gase implemented. I also guarantee it wasn't Manning who said they needed to run more after the Rams game? I guarantee that was Gase.

I mean, Gase put together the playbook, implemented his system, and called plays at times because the Broncos didn't go all no-huddle. Honestly, given how well the system fit Manning, maybe Gase is the type of offensive mind that is just better at tailoring an offense to his players.

The only concern I'd have is play calling tendencies because unless Manning made the playbook and taught the players, it was Gase's offensive system

Another option.

I agree that none of these guys are Kubiak but it doesn't mean they're bad. Remember, we won a SB with Caldwell as the OC and he was terrible the year afterward. We'll be fine if they're decent. Just calm down haha

I didn't think about him but he's definitely a possibility. So much controversy surrounding him, but then again we've shown we're not afraid to do things like this.

I like Kubiak, but I would take Shanahan and Gase before him

Another guy you can't trust.   He straight up turned his back on his entire team in a worse way than Kubiak.

Didn't even think of Doug Marrone until he was mentioned above. And the pool of Ravens OC candidates gets more interesting...

You're going to have to explain this one to me, because I don't think anybody really thinks this way.

Had an opt-out clause in his contract (which ownership agreed to by the way) that allowed him to leave if ownership changed. He did that. It was also sort of expected...

Thought he took a job as a position coach someplace?

I get Mike/Kyle(not sure which you're talking about) but why Gase?

I'm talking about Kyle. I'm more fond of him than Mike.

Gase because he can run the WCO, EP, Air-Coryell, man blocking, or zone, plus he's got work as a quarterbacks coach and receivers coach

Wow didn't know he ever had offensive coordinator experience.

Anyone want to compile a list of potential offensive coordinators, ranking them from most likely to most unlikely? Because, at this point, I'm so confused as to who's still available and who's going somewhere else...

Same.

And lets start a new topic, i hate this topic. The Tool is gone and he took everyone with him. What a  P.O.S, ill be honest, i am pretty livid. Dream job or not. This is unreal.

The Pats dont have to deal with this, what are they doing to keep their Coaches. They are more successful then us , arnt they.

So, if anyone wants to hear a little something about Gase, look at the LFW article and see what Manning, Fox, and Elway had to say about Gase.

True, but did you really expect them to bash him or something?

Obviously wouldn't expect Peyton Manning to take 100% credit for the offense or something like that...

I seen some people say it may be telling how neither Fox or Rio were quick to hire Gase as their offensive coordinator.

It's not like they were just saying he was a good coordinator or smart. They're calling him a genius and one of the brightest minds in football. That's not coach speak, in my opinion

Del Rio is the new HC in Oakland...

And I have no doubt that anybody inquiring about Gase would be interested in those comments and recommendations also...

But there are some who are still confused why he hasn't been getting HC offers yet and why he is seemingly struggling to even find an OC gig...

Going from being the OC with Peyton in Denver to potentially being an OC in Jacksonville is essentially a demotion in most people's eyes, and you could argue it would be one going to Baltimore as well...

Please explain how it would be a demotion to go to Baltimore to be the O.C., its a guarantee H.C. job within the next 2 yrs ( if he doesnt totally blow it)

You have a S.B. mvp QB in Baltimore. Same as it was in Denver.

Manning is done, he is over the hill. Injury or not.

The RAVENS have become a high powered offense.

Because Baltimore's offense hasn't been as good as Denver's.

He was supposedly already ready to be a guaranteed HC after being Peyton's OC for two seasons, and yet, he's not and isn't going to be this offseason either.

In short, you've got to be a "high powered offense" for more than just one season in order to be considered an actual great offense.
