Updated: Who Should Be Our Next OC? It's Trestman

665 posts in this topic

I wonder if the fact that Trestman is 60 years old and not as likely to be a one-and-done OC?  On the flip side does being that old make him less likely to "work" with Flacco and more likely to just command him?   I'm not sure that will fly.

I'm not unhappy with this pick though.  I'm interested to see what he brings to the table.

I was hoping Gase w/ a package deal of D. Thomas.

Oh well, welcome aboard Trestman!!

West Coast offense with a fast-paced approach that features multiple formations, constant motion and a variety of personnel groupings.

This bodes well for our young receivers: Aiken, Camp, Brown, and Gillmore.

I said that about an hour ago.

Yep.  You'd think a guy that gets that many interviews would land a job somewhere.  The Peyton effect may be real.

I was starting to get very concerned about Gase as well. He's been a hot commodity for HC for the past 2 years and walked away empty handed each time. He's interviewed for multiple OC positions as well and still, empty handed. I think it's speaking volumes that no one has really made an effort to bring him on board.

I think Gase is still an option but it depends on what happens with JAX. He might be a candidate for our QB coach position. I prefer Knapp as a QB coach but he would be a good option as well. I have to say I think I'm happier with Trestman than Gase because I'm always concerned about the Manning effect.

I think he will be on awhile, like dean

i doubt it, he is a natural QB Position Coach,

I don't think he's a one and done. Hopefully this works out! I think a receiving RB now becomes likely....

Brian Billick on Marc Trestman: 'I would imagine he and Joe [Flacco] would get along very well. Both have that calm, cool demeanor.'

I'm fine with it... as long as he's not of the "lets throw it 50 times a game" mentality...

Well Cutler sure was let it fly!

I am not sure why people are so high on Gase, he really hasn't proven anything in my opinion. Trestman was the safiest pick out of who was left.

Apparently that was a big factor.  Late concerns arose on Gase and Flacco not being a great match of personalities.

i don't think we will have as diverse of an offense..we will lack balance again.

Kubiak mixed it up…trestman isn't as well rounded..

Does he run the same style of WCO that Kubiak does?

He runs wco where Kubiak is from the Shanahan tree of the WCO, Trestman is from the Mike McCarthy tree

Could be he just doesn't interview well. It's definatly something though. For us to pass on him is telling. But who knows, maybe he said he wanted to implement the spread and that's not what Harbs and Oz wanted to hear. That doesn't eplain other teams lack of serious interest, but my guess is the interview was the problem.

As for our new hire, it's funny, I said to one of my my buddys around mid season, we should get Trestman when Kubes leaves. "He is a damn good coach" I said!!!! Maybe I should start playing the lottery or something!!!

Interesting... Where'd you find that at? If that's the case, I guess no Gase at QB Coach.

Trestman is soft and doenst run enough thats what I don't like

but he's great for Joe.

Would need a run game assistant or something maybe thats what Castillo will do. They need to keep the ZB and don't go 8 runs 45 passes

Thank you. I thought I read something like that before but couldn't recall. I knew he did run the WCO offense which Gase did not.

D Thomas is a pipe dream. He will be franchised by the Bronco's so no team will get the chance to sign him.

Saw it when I searched for Adam Gase on Twitter.  Let me see if I can go dig it up.

I really like it. He should be a good OC... and not leave for a head coach job anytime soon. I wasn't sold on Gase and how much of the Broncos offense was actually him. Cant wait for Marc and Chloe to come to baltimore

Chloe is the real prize here.

Hey guys, I felt soo strongly about this that I created an account. I am a obviously a bears fan. Trestman was a terrible coach, all the blame fell unfairly on cuter. Get ready for lots and lots of check downs and screens, you will see lots of vanilla calls from him. For your guys sake I hope I am wrong.

Not sure how I feel about this....

Yeah I don't know. Things ended pretty badly in Chicago. Guess we will see what happens

Ravens were looking for a calm, collective voice to work with Flacco. Some late concerns regarding Gase apparently.

It wasn't from Chell but I'm going to go ahead and assume he saw the same tweet I did.  I knew I should have copied and pasted it.  Now it's buried under 100s of Adam Gase tweets lol.
