Or Dennis Pitta.   We know he was 14 yards short of 4000 this year, and that could have been any one of the WR's dropped passes.  Some of those would also be touchdowns that were dropped in the endzone so we don't know if he would have passed 30 TD's

Keep in mind too if the defense makes two stops, the Ravens are also 12-4 instead of 10-6, both being AFC teams and putting them at least as the #3 seed, maybe more.

in week 1 alone there was something like 80 yards worth of passes dropped and 1 certain TD and a 2nd possible TD.

lets also remember those dropped passes tend to be drive stallers, so if those passes are complete, he has more possessions to move the chains, the only playoff team with more dropped passes than us is the colts, and the rest of the teams are bottom feeders, us being 4th in dropped passes and being where were at is impressive alone.

Well..............actually............ :D

This year Joe has had 8 games this year with ZERO interceptions. And, he's had a 3 game stretch of that. That's pretty close.

He also has had a three game stretch of posting 100+ QB Rating games (which just happen to be 2 of those 3 0 INT games and then the Miami game), and 7 games overall of 100+. Three of those were over 120, and one of them was the Tampa Bay game where it was a near perfect 149.7.

He also had 3 more games over 90.

And take his games since the bye:

120.7

104.9

106.8

99.4

41.7 (We know which game that is)

107.6

I get what you're saying about his playoff stats, and they are the best in the league (and some of the best in NFL history) hands down. I just look at the stats and see that he has had a great year and while QB Rating wise it's his second best year (2010 he was 93.6, this year 91.0), you can see his numbers are on par with a lot of the playoff field for the regular season. That's all. He's more consistent than people think, we just tend to remember the bad games more than we remember the stretches of good ones.

To be perfectly honest, looking at everyone's stats including the bad games Manning, Luck, and Brady had, there is no reason Flacco shouldn't have been in the pro-bowl conversation this year. BUT, it's a popularity contest, and Flacco won't have his turn until Manning and Brady retire.

You're making it seem like I'm arguing against Joe's success, but 7/16 is a big difference from 8/9. He had a great regular season, his best one. He's still more consistent in the playoffs.

I'd say this is a top 2 or 3 game this season. Stats don't mean everything. This is game where if you watch, you can tell how much better his play was. He was sharp, passes crisp and besides the trying to make a play when he fumbled, his decision make was top notch to me. He recognized the formaformations and knew what to do quickly.

Top 2 or 3 for sure, and possibly his best. I was just saying that it is sort of "expected" in the playoffs, instead of the regular season when you aren't sure when a game like that will happen.

During the "Wired" episode versus Cleveland, Joe told Kubiak in the 3rd qtr they need to start getting yards by chunks on 1st and 2nd downs and not the small gains that we typically saw all season.  Since then I've noticed the offense has done a phenomenal job moving the ball.  The offense has looked pretty darn good the last 5 qtrs they played.  In the Pittsburgh game, I think they scored on 6 out of 9 drives.

Not at all.   I'm just pointing out his consistency in the regular season too and having you know......a conversation?

Agreed completely. My favorite two passes of the game were the slant to Torrey on 3rd and long that got the first and the crossing route to Owen daniles that got the first on third and long. I think its important to get those crossing routes going especially against the Patriots this week. Maybe camp and daniels with crossing routes and the smiths on the outside could be very effective I think. Another wrinkle I think could be interesting would be to have campanaro and forsette in the backfield, forsett could split out of block and campanaro could get a free release from the backfield lined up against a linebacker who I doubt could possibly cover campanaro with his quickness

I have no animosity with you.  I wouldn't have put as much effort in my posts if I did.

I believe this game becomes a shootout in the 4th quarter. Believe me, I feel the best way to beat this version of the Patsys is to have a consistent ground game, controlling the ball and keeping Brady off the field.

This will be Joes finest hour, as he is going against the best coach in the business, and he will design a plan to fluster Joe. What a chess match.

I think Joe will step up and finally shut up all the critics and shred their D. I cant wait to see it unfold. Go Ravens!

Wish the outcome was different but he played lights out once again for the large majority of the game.

Bad throw on that game sealing pick but Torrey could've at least put his arms up or try and fight for the ball. Joe put it in position for him to make a play and he failed... Just saying a true #1 could've made that play. Hell, Steve Smith wouldve at least played DB on that throw.

The other pick was all on him. Can't be mad though.... Especially considering the Owen drop.

Had to carry the defense tonight. Shootout with brady, dropped pass away from matching him score for score and playing for a fg not a TD. Couple bad throws and reads but great game over all.

16 touchdowns / 2 Interceptions in his last 2 playoff years.

I like his chances to keep being a top tier franchise QB for the Ravens.

Considering Brady was throwing to Gronk against Webb and Melvin and Joe to Torrey against Revis and Browner, I'd say even with the picks Joe had the better night - he had the monumentally harder task.

Pretty cool, Flacco now has the NFL record for most consecutive playoff games with multiple touchdowns. Torrey could have done more, Kubiak could have called a different play, Flacco made the throw. But we overachieved this year, Flacco had some inconsistent games but was 27 TDs and 12 INTs for the year with 3 of those coming in one game. He played very well this year and if Kubiak gets another year here big things could happen.

Flacco didnt make a mental error he made a physical one of trying to make a play, his aggresiveness got the best of him but he was trying to make a play. Cant fault him for that, and maybe if we get him a playmaking wide receiver under the age of 33 we'll see him unleash even more next year. I believe the future is bright, which is all you can ask for

Loved a quote tonight from one of the announcers about how Joe might play himself into another 100 million $ contract

....Also how he earns it.

The playoff loss is tough to bare.  But this game single-handedly changed my perception about Flacco.  Joe is a great player.  I don't know what reason he has to be a dud in the regular season, but he knows how to be ready for the playoffs.

He has earned my respect, and wish Flacco to be with the Ravens for a long time.  He played a hell of a game.

Joe flacco is a monster, he is the anti peyton. He plays his best football when it matters in the post season isntead of padding reg season stats and going nowhere in jan/feb like peyton. Honestly he's better than rodgers in the playoffs and it's not close.

Yep, I meant 17.   Either way, that's still a heck of a thing.   And still has more playoff wins in his first 7 years than anyone else in theirs.

The part that makes me feel better is that we put up 31 on this Patriot defense.   Imagine if Joe gets a real playmaker at receiver next year.    Mmmmmmmm

Joe is 6 days from 30 and still improving. He has yet to reach his best but lets not waste his prime years with bad defense and bad receivers.

haha thats funny. We wasted so many great defenses with a terrible offense and now were seeing the exact opposite. Must be weird to know what it feels like to be Peyton Manning or Drew Brees for so many years

Flacco carried this team as far as he could .The defense crapped the bed (did the Patriots even punt in the second half other then with 14 seconds left) .Eventually you have to contest those 8 yard darts .We didn't and we lost.

Brady is a slam dunk hall of famer and he showed why tonight. Proud that Flacco was able to go toe-to-toe with him down to the wire.
