Right now, in my very honest unbiased opinion, Joe Flacco is the closest incarnation of Johny Unitas. I truly believe that. He doesn't care about accolades, but just goes out and does his job in a workman like manner! Not to mention he is super talented and super cool!

So is 2014 officially Joe's first Pro Bowl season, then?  It seems that way, but for some reason I feel confused haha

No, since he wasn't one of the original players selected, it would only count officially if he actually played.

This is actually the second time that he has declined.

You sure about all that? I am seeing Joe Flacco 2014 Pro Bowler on some sites, plus I have no memory of him turning it down in the past.

This is Joe's first time getting invited I think....

For you two and everyone else:

When news broke that Jaguars quarterback David Garrard would represent the AFC in the Pro Bowl since Peyton Manning will be busy preparing for the Super Bowl, my first thought was, “Garrard is a better option than Flacco?”

Garrard threw for fewer yards, had a lower completion percentage and fewer touchdowns than Flacco in 2009. Plus, Garrard and the Jaguars failed to advance to the postseason, whereas Flacco’s Ravens made it to the Divisional playoff round.

But apparently, Flacco was invited to the Pro Bowl and declined because of his hip injury, according to Aaron Wilson’s RavensInsider Twitter account. There’s still no official word from Flacco himself on the matter.

I guess it's not as solid of a statement as this time around, but he's a career non-probowler in any case.

Slightly off topic, but that jerk Barnwell is at it again. Just noticed this in his column talking about the futures of the eliminated playoff teams. Amazing how he manages to take a shot at Flacco while talking about the Broncos

The arrival of new head coach Kubiak raises some interesting questions about Manning’s future. Kubiak’s system doesn’t seem like a great fit for Manning. While Kubiak has had success with limited quarterbacks such as Matt Schaub and Joe Flacco, his scheme revolves around play-action and getting his quarterback out of the pocket for throws downfield. He could change his scheme to account for Manning and will surely make some shifts as part of the move, but Kubiak is regarded as a relatively rigid offensive mind who doesn’t share the creativity of his predecessor, the aforementioned Gase.

So what if he still isn't a Pro Bowler yet?

Now that he's in a WCO and entering a QB's prime, it's only a matter of time.

Unless, of course, he keeps having babies around this time of year.

Yes, Alternates do get credit for it ;)

No. Ray Lewis pointed it out on nfln years ago he declined because Bart Scott was next in line and in discussing it on nfln they said by declining he doesn't get credit
