Its funny how everyone is bringing up the whole GRONK didnt play the last 2 playoff games but everyone seems to forget that Aaron Hernandez did play and we held him in check ( for the most part, he did have a good game)  While they are 2 diff T.E.s they were pretty similar also.

Dont get me wrong, Gronk is clearly better and i think he will be a factor in this game, whether he will be effective or not remains to be seen. Even if we do hold him at bay, which i actually think we will ( we kept Jimmy Graham from lighting us up and Graham is the closest T.E. comparison to Gronk in the nfl when it comes to size, skill and play making ability) . But that also means it will free up everyone else and i think the PATS are actually planning for him to just be a spot filler. I think the plan for Gronk in this game for the Pats is to have him be more of a Blocker and a decoy.  I think he will get some catches but what scares me more than anything with Gronk is his Yac. We all know that Our Secondary has had some serious issues with Tackling. I will say this, they have gotten better because we got rid of a couple of our guys after that horrid 2nd STEELERS game.

With that being said,  im very Optimistic. Nervous as heck but Optimistic. My stomach will be twisted come kick off . Happens every week before game time

First time poster here and a Pats fan.Forgetting all the BS, we both have great franchises to root for. I love the organizational excellence both  franchises have shown to continually be in contention year after year. Alot of posters on both sides like to throw slings and arrows but I for one respect your owner, gm and coaches for fielding solid teams. Tomorrow will be decided on the field by whichever team can impose it's will on the other. This game will be decided in the trenches, Ngata vs Stork is a critical matchup in my opinion. If he wins the battle in the middle it opens up everything to pressure Brady and throw him off stride. I see Dean Pees as a big asset for you. If the Pats can control the LOS I think we have a good shot. Flacco has been incredible in post season but I do feel our D is the best we have had in 10 years. Here is hoping for a well played, well officiated, hard hitting game.

Great to hear Jernigan is a go and feeling good. It was also good to learn that he played with the patsies center at FSU and went up against him at practice for 3 years. Me thinks with him, Haloti and Williams crunching the middle there won't be much of a pocket for Brady.

The closer this game gets the better I like our chances. I certainly feel more confident now than last Friday at this time. Once again this Team proves it can step up in crunch time. However the game goes you gotta luv this Team.

First off, Brady isn't in any MVP race.   And his age means nothing in all this.

Second, Brady hasn't faced a front 4 like this all year.   Sorry, no disrespect to the Lions or what-have-you, but the Patriots OL has to usually only deal with one good pass rusher.   The Ravens have two on the outside alone with Suggs and Dumervil, and then are VERY dangerous up the middle rotating in Ngata (who is rested and mad at himself with something to prove BTW), Williams, Jurnigan (who will likely play it sounds like), and McPhee.  That doesn't even account for Upshaw.  Speaking of Suggs, WHAT trash-talking?   There hasn't been any this week, except from Pats fans.

So while you will have a healthy OL, that doesn't mean you have the OL to contain all that.   If you think Brady is going to have his usual time to sit back and eat a sandwich before throwing the ball, think again.   And you do know they are very stout against the run, right?

Healthy Gronk?   Great.   Teams this year have stopped the almighty Gronk you know.   You don't have to be physical with him to beat him.   You throw his route off, and then you make Brady throw early and undercut his routes and you don't even have to touch him to pick the ball off.

So that leaves Edelman, their only other real threat.   Webb will deal with that.   Maybe even Melvin.

Oh and since you like stats and stuff there is that pesky stat of that defense being 6th overall in points allowed and near the top if not the top in red zone defense.

Here's the best part.   Steve Smith (Beast) isn't afraid to go up against Revis.   Owen Daniels (still great TE) isn't afraid to go up against your LB's.   I predict at least 2 PI calls on Torrey Smith (Speedy) because while Browner is physical at the line, he's not as fast as Torrey.

Oh yeah and Flacco (winner).   He holds the NFL record for road wins, and just happens to be able to win in Foxboro when not many other QB's can.

See, I can do the same thing you are doing.

But Flacco has faced an imcomplete Patriot's team the last 3 games.. especially on defense, specifically on defense and an offense without Gronk...

And Edelman is the only real threat couch potato? please.. First off, LaFell is a legit deep threat and has almost 1,000 yards receiving and 7 TDs and is top 30 in receptions, and Tim Wright the 2nd TE has 7 TDs, and that's like 5th most amongst TEs... Secondly we can pound the rock with Blount and Gray, and provide mismatches with Vereen on safeties or linebackers along with Bolden... and Gronk will get us some one on ones on the outside no doubt... and I wonder how many sacks Chandler Jones and Rob Ninkovich will have? Or Jamie Collins and Dont'a Hightower.. and how many pics will Joe throw to Revis, Browner and McCourty.. and Collins? or Ninkovich? will be interesting to see...

Heck, even Amendola had a decent game last season vs the Ravens.. you guys were beaten by just Edelman and Amendola alone.. and that's without having to worry about Gronk, Wright or LaFell last season like you do now..

And you keep mentioning front 4.. will NO DUH.. is your front 4 better than Detroits? or Buffalos? or Denvers? both teams that beat Aaron Rodgers, because Brady put up a combine 119 points on both teams ... let me spell you out the names of both fronts that a healthy Patriots oline dominated in those games.. ready? Ok here goes... Marcell Dareus, Ndamukong Suh, Kyle Williams, Mario Williams, Nick Fairley, DeAndre Levy, Jerry Hughes (all pro), Demarcus Ware, Von Miller, Terrance Knighton and Ezekial Ansuh... guess what, all of those players were handled by the Patriot's offensive line so I'm pretty sure they will be fine and handle the front 4 again in this game and give Brady time to make a sandwich in the pocket.

I'm not a homer.  I criticize the Pats and had Pats fans call me a fake fan for not riding them.

My gut instinct tells me the Pats win a squeaker 28 to 24 or 28 to 27.  I give the Pats a 55% chance of winning this game.  The weather will be under 20 degrees in the mid teens during the game according to the Weather Channel.  Neither team will be chucking it all over the place.

But it wouldn't surprise me if the Ravens won.  But...

It's either going to go like this...

Pats win a squeaker or...

Ravens win a squeaker or...

Pats win in a blow out <<<<<I say that because the Pats blew out the Bengals, Broncos, Bears, Colts, Lions and beat the Chargers in SD.

If the Pats didn't have Gronk, Revis and Browner with that deep secondary that can actually cover now I would have picked the Ravens to win this game and win by 2 TD's.

1.) Pats have Gronk and Wright, 2 TE's.

2.) Pats have Revis, Browner and a deep secondary that can cover now.

3.) Pats have a deep running game with 5 RB's (Blount, Gray, Vereen, Bolden, White).

Back in 2012 the Pats didn't have Gronk, and Talib left the game in the 1st quarter and after that the secondary got exposed and no one could cover Boldin.

If the Ravens win I bet it's primarily due to the Pats' offensive line being out played.  That has been their weakness all season.

ket.

I cut out some of your post because it was too long, but I'll respond. No trash talk, just answering questions you had. I suppose that first sentence of yours means you'll keep your mouth shut and excuse our loss if it happened this time because of our 19 IR players and a secondary duct taped together with spare parts from the street? Also, Joe throws interceptions when he is rushed, not because the secondaries are good, so you're looking in the wrong places on your team to force those. I'm not saying the pass rush isn't there for you, but that's where you should focus if you're looking for turnovers. Lastly, yes, our front seven is better than the other teams you mentioned.

Good game, and enjoy.

Think Brady is at home ' o crap it's the Ravens lol

like the fans...... when at 11:30 last week and as the Fans heard the Ravens had the game locked, Patriot fans were lining up on whatever bridge thinking " of all teams in the AFC, why did we have to draw the Ravens?!" .....same goes for the Patriots team itself. except in a more organized way. " Baltimore is a good football team, they have a stout defense, and a offense that can unleash just like that, it'll be a great game, a hard fought game, definitely a challenge for us"

same goes for us

Yeah, that's simply not true to say Edelmen is the only threat.  Brady is capable of making any WR a threat.  That's what makes him one of the greats

Even if you said that you hated the Ravens with a burning passion, your comments I bolded are the reasons why that not every fan from another team is a troll. Real recognizes and respects real. Good stuff. This season for me has already been a success. So long that we keep it close, I'm fine.

That's just Pagano. He's still bleeds purple and black. I have no problem with Ray doing that (as long if it's not a game against us).

I have a real problem with it. He was here long enough to know that is a slap in the face to many long time Ravens fans, who were once fans of a team no longer here.

Not only that - they are an AFC team. Disloyal to me. Don't like it at all.

Good game, and enjoy.

You make some good points about the Ravens being injured and missing lots of players and I do think the Ravens and their fans will have a legit excuse for why they lost "IF" they do lose just like the Pats did with an injured Gronk and injured Talib.

With regards to the Pats' offensive line, most Pats fans and most in the Boston media have stated all week this is the key to the game and the Pats' biggest weakness.  The edge goes to the Ravens' D-line.

Here's the thing with the Pats' O-line the last 3 weeks of the season.  The Pats best O-lineman Dan Connolly was injured and was limited or didn't play.  When he's out the whole line is different and doesn't perform well.  When he's playing it's one of the best O-lines in the entire NFL.

The Pats did face better D-lines than the Ravens already.  The Bills, Dolphins and Jets DO have the best defensive front 7 in the NFL.  They do exotic blitz packages that no one else really does because they have the horses for it.  Yes, the Ravens do blitz but not like the 3 AFC east teams do.  The Ravens do stick to a more consistent 4 man rush, where as the Jets will throw everything including the kitchen sink at Brady with 5 and 6 guys coming from different directions.  The Jets' LB's blitz better than the Ravens' LB's do.  This is also confirmed by the NFL Network and ESPN.

Now here's the thing....the Pats' last 3 games of the season didn't have Dan Connolly healthy.  Now he's healthy for this playoff game.

The Pats also have the most deep secondary in the NFL with actual talent...

CB's...

Darrelle Revis

Brandon Browner

Kyle Arrington

Logan Ryan

Malcom Butler

Safety's...

Devin McCourty

Patrick Chung

Nate Ebner

Duran Harmon

Tavon Wilson

Darrelle Revis has shut down Steve Smith through out his career.

They will most likely put Brandon Browner on Torrey Smith with a safety (Devin McCourty) over the top to double team him.

So don't be surprised if both Smith's are shut down in this game.  Maybe 2 catches each tops the whole game.  The weather will play a factor.   It will be 12 to 19 degrees (artic freeze) during the game, not good weather to throw deep.

The Pats rarely give up TD's in the 2nd half.

I agree. If Harbaugh called it in, he would have been there. But I think the organization is trying to move on from Lewis. We get a speech, we win, Lewis is credited again with us winning.

I feel you. Kinda' like when Jim Brown came to support us all the way up to the Superbowl. Jim did it for Art Modell because he loved him. Ray loves Pagano, but that doesn't mean he doesn't love us, as well. Let's face it - there are extremely personal relations that exist in the league that surpass optics. Trust in this...Ray loves us beyond measure. Purple and Black goes way beyond a moment. It's eternal for some.

p.s. - Jim Brown is still honored in Cleveland and Ray will always be honored here. Just saying...

Ray has been gone 2 seasons - Jim Brown was retired for a very long long long time. His team was not in contention at the time either

Well, hopefully not too many other fans feel that way. I don't want the media to make a run with this putting Ravens fans against Ray.  And you know the media wouldn't hesitate to do that

The more and more I think about this game, the more winnable I think it is.

I hate that!  I'm trying to keep my expectations as low as possible because I really don't think our team has shown enough for us to trust them quite yet.  Yes we played great last week, but its too soon to forget the sorry performances we put together during the last 3 games of the season.

I hope we see the team we saw last week, but I can't help but prepare myself to witness the team from a few games ago.

Right on point. Those calls between Ray and Harb are personal. No connection has been lost. I wouldn't be surprised if Ray gave him a heads-up before he went to support Pagano. Harb wouldn't have a problem with that at all (he loves the guy too).

Don't look too much into it. We've got more pressing issues ahead. This team...right here....right now...will form their very own identity. Can't wait to see where we go from here.

GO Ravens! We got this.

It's the opposite for me.  If I see that there's more and more of a chance that we can win the game, I find that we usually end up winning that game.  A sorry performance would suck, but it's not like it would suck any less if you had lower expectations.  Particularly if we suck against a team like NE.

And you know in those sorry performances we went 3-1 right?   So look at it this way, and this will really make the trash-talking Pats fans nervous, we didn't even have to play our best and still ended the season 3-1 and in the playoffs.   The Ravens playing well, which they do in the playoffs, is real trouble for even the mighty Patriots.

When you are at peace with things, you can think this way.   :)

No Disrespect but could you check a box? (highlight):

  • Are you a Steelers Fan?
  • Are you a Ravens Fan
  • Are you a Ravens Fan who has been following Ray Lewis since a rookie and know his character somewhat?
  • Are you all the above who will just stay focus on the task at hand - Beat the Patriots?

I just would like to know where you're going with this. Truly no disrespect intended. I personally will never use Mayflower Moving ever because of what happened. That being said, if you were my true friend and helped me through one of the worst crisis in my life...there's nothing that you could not ask of me. It is what it is. Let it go. Okay?

We got this and the Colts too if they advance. I'm sure the Ray pep talk was more to mess with the Brady (..."Ray and Ed won't come out of retirement...") statement than to dishonor us. We beat the Patriots...watch what happens then.

Just a thought.

Just a thought.

Feeling a certain kind of way about a certain team owned by a certain drunk has no bearing on anyone's fandom one way or another.

Ray certainly did not intend disrespect - but that is because he doesn't look beyond himself enough to see the big picture on things at times. This is one of those times.

The man whose statue was moved to make room for Ray's own statue would not find this okay - and no matter how many years had passed nor his affinity for their HC would have made him deliver any inspirational words during a playoff run - especially when the Ravens were also in that post season run.

I felt a certain kind of way when I saw it - I feel a certain kind of way that he did it and saw nothing wrong with it - and I will continue to feel that way.

I'm entitled to feel that way. I lived it, I watched it destroy Schaefer the man. Watched Unitas and others fight tooth & nail against the debacle of their records being cited as those of Indy - it is what it is and Ray was here at the beginning of the Ravens. He is well aware that some will feel a certain kind of way about it.
