Wild Card Post-Game: Steeler's G3

As for the Steelers being without Bell, I just want to slap people who make that claim.

Asa Jackson, Dennis Pitta, Jimmy Smith, Rick Wagner and Morgan Cox are all on IR for us and were starters. That's 6 starters on IR. Then you have Christo Bilukidi, Terrence Brooks, Arthur Brown, Danny Gorrer, Kapron Lewis-Moore, Kevin McDermott, Jah Reid, Aaron Ross, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Brent Urban are also all on IR. They were all role players. Even Danny Gorrer and a few other guys who barely played. I don't want to hear anyone say they missed Bell.

Don't forget Monroe, think you counted him as a starter but didn't list him

It's time we only allow adult conversations about Harbaugh & Flacco. Their place in Baltimore sports history is sealed. There is no debate.

CLASSIC! lmao

I'm with you on that. It gets so annoying. Like what their beloved HC always say, next man up! No excuses!

Bell wasn't even on IR. So we can include Eugene Monroe and Timmy Jernigan in that list.

Monroe isn't IR'd though.   He might be able to play next week if he heals.

He's not on IR, but he was out, yeah.. He's just been really ineffective. I'm personally glad he is resting. I'd rather him get healthy and play effectively than be hurt and play ineffective. I think it was a big difference in this game.

Other than the near interception, Joe played a good game. Not a great game at first glance, but when you consider the level of the pass rush, the injuries to the OL, and the personal playoff demons, Joe had a fantastic game.

The defense are the true heroes of this one however.

Secondary played above expectation and the front seven showed up.

Yeah, I meant to include them but I'm pretty excited and it slipped my mind. Lol

He had really good poise in the pocket tonight.  Even when the Steelers brought a big blitz on an obvious passing down, he stayed calm and his internal clock was on point.

Absolutely. On the near int he got a little freaked, but other than that and the fumble he was very impressive in the pocket.

Honestly the more I think about it he better he played.

He did well until he put Smith on Brown. Then he went to that soft D wayyyyyy too early in the game. It almost cost us big time. Other than that - he did alright.

That's called the Tampa 2 defense. He didn't assign Daryl in man, it's just how the play happened

I find it interesting how the Ravens really put the offensive game on Joe's shoulders right from the get go.

They were like: "Go Get 'em Tiger"

My only gripe is the communication in the secondary still continues to be an issue. I recall a few times where guys were left uncovered. I don't really blame that on Pees. Someone is not communicating or grasping their assignment or they are bailing on their assignment or not covering the assignments of others when they blitz.

People blamed the "conservative" Kubiak for the Texans lack of playoff success. Clearly, Schaub was the weak link. Give the man a good QB and he can be agressive, if he wants to.

I hope there aren't too many teams, that just realized that. Stop giving your OCs HC-jobs, Joe. :P

You need to move. My neighborhood sets off fireworks, blows airhorns, hoots and hollers, etc.

Yeah. Admittedly, I'll bet the complaint came in from some salty Eagles fans.

Also, Joe talking about the lopsided TOP...it was pretty ridiculous, idk where exactly it ended up, but they battled through much adversity this game and year largely in part of #5

Kubiak definitely was aggressive.  Something that probably has Texans fans scratching their head right about now.  Wasn't afraid to make the bold call.  Thought he called a great game.

He was generally conservative in the regular season, but something about the playoffs must have changed his mind quite a bit.

How about a shout-out to Gary Kubiak.   Going for the endzone on 3rd and 1?   That's playing to win the game, not playing not to lose.

Probably because Flacco turns into Johnny U when the playoffs start ;)
