Darren Sanders accused of sexual offense

77 posts in this topic

@jemillerwbal: Allegation of 4th deg sex offense vs Ravens Security Chief Darren Sanders filed by stadium cleaning crew employee. Sanders' atty: not true

Cleaning crew? Could be someone complaining of inappropriate touching when he simply physically moved the person out of the way.

Never even heard of 4th degree before.

3rd degree is unwanted kissing.

4th degree sexual assault is usually touching of a private or something like that.  Generally levied against bosses or executives.

Fourth degree sexual assault might be simply sexual contact without consent or with consent that was obtained as a result of a position of authority the offender had over the victim.

why are you guys freaking out lol? the guy deals with security??

Because it's a fourth degree sex offense DUH. Are you kidding me? Think sex offenses are a joke?

I believe a fourth degree sex offense means sexual contact with a minor or someone of lesser authority...

From the Maryland Attorney General:

"4th degree sexual offense: Not considered a sexually violent offense. Sexual contact without consent of victim, sexual act with victim 14 or 15 and perpetrator 4 years older; vaginal intercourse with victim 14 or 15 and perpetrator 4 years older. Sexual contact is intentionally touching genitalia, the anus or other intimate area. It includes penetration by a part of the body except the [profanity deleted] or mouth."

Since the complaint was filed by a member of the cleaning crew, I think we can rule out the 14 and 15 year olds.

Seems so. This law is somewhat vaguely written (as most laws are) so it's weird to interpret. I'm also seeing different definitions on different sites which is weird.

Apparently, he (allegedly) tried to kiss a 34 year old on the neck and force her to inappropriately touch him.

I know it isn't OK (if true), but I'm not sure this is a reason to "Stop the presses". I swear, any other franchise and this would not have made it out of the city's local paper. Since its the Ravens, its ESPN front page.

Make sure you're only looking at Maryland definitions. It varies by state. The Maryland sex offender registry uses the same definition as above.

It only made national because of 1: Rice's case and 2: Sanders' heavy involvement in the team's handling of the Rice case. Don't make it seem like ESPN is just out to get us.

Yeah, I figured that out. I was confused by other sites that interpreted the law differently.

I'm just making it out to seem that ESPN is out to sensationalize anything to whip their readers into a frenzy and we are their flavor of the year. They are, along with virtually every media outlet that exists in this day and age, virtual tabloid press. It is all about selling outrage to the masses.

Not really.  This could be the key to it all, "A witness also saw part of their interaction".

Yeah, that's huge.

Also, the victim just filed a protective order against Sanders. Would she go through all this trouble if it was made up?

I'm sure her attorney advised her to do so.  It makes her case "look" stronger.  I'm not saying it wasn't necessary,

but completely falls in line w/ what I would expect an attorney to suggest to his client.

Why play grab butt after a Jacksonville win?  I can see being gitty after beating the hated Steelers or after beating CLE to make it to the playoffs, but after a Jax win, what's there to be excited about?  J/K!!

I'm sure after BOTH of their stories are fully revealed, this will seem clearer. In the meanwhile, there's no sense in trying the case here. We don't have enough information. All we have is (some of) one side of the story.

Yup pretty much what I would expect, whether it is legit or not - not making a judgement.

The Ray Rice video just happened to come out days before the week 2 game against the Steelers. Despite the fact that this happened on Dec 14th, the day of the Jaguars game and we had games on Dec 21st and 28th, nobody knew about this. Yet all of a sudden this becomes public days before our third game against the Steelers?

Something's fishy about that lol. Now whether the case she has against him is legit or not remains to be seen.

No that might be Chad Steele you're talking about. Sanders is usually Harbaughs shadow on the sideline, you'll see him always within 3ft during the handshake too

Thank You! I always wondered who he was I was about to ask earlier about him.

Did this guy get in trouble before about a sexual assault?

No, but he accidentally shot himself while provided personal security for Bisciotti in North Carolina.  He was charged for that.

I actually had that same thought about the timeline once I found out it happened the day of the Jaguars game. Interesting coincidence hmmm.

We have to wait till Feb 9th for the court thing. Ugh why to the Ravens. Hopefully this doesn't explode onto CNN and stuff like Rice did. I couldn't stand that.
