The Return of the Amazing Webb?

85 posts in this topic

Nobody has really talked about it, but I've loved what I've seen from Webb lately. I know that it's perhaps premature. He's taken a lot of criticism and much was warranted. I'm really hoping he continues this because I see him being a big part of our playoff run.

He's played well against some decent WR and will really be tested against whoever we face next. I feel he's a critical ingredient to our playoff success. I'm hoping he continues the trend. He's definitely going to make it hard to cut him as some suggested.

He's been so much better.  He's still not the Webb of old, but we can more than handle this Webb going forward.  I don't remember where, but I saw the other day that Webb mentioned that his back injury was a nerve issue.  That makes a lot of sense as to why it took him so long to not only get back on the field, but to get back into form as well.  I'm hopeful that the nerve issue was the cause of his struggles and we get the Webb we've had lately going forward.  He's not perfect, but I'll take him as he is now.

It looks like he was just knocking off the rust and getting back into game shape.  He has really looked like the Webb of old lately and today he really shut down his side of the field.

I think he has improved dramatically, my guess is it is largely due to health.

His play has been getting noticeably better the past month. Maybe that back was still a problem or still getting use to the knee.

He is finally fully healthy.  As much as he probably doesn't want to admit, that back injury was lingering and limiting his performance.

He had a nice closing interception today. Glad to see him get one. Also overall, our defense has done good for having a bunch of practice squad dudes.

I woke up this morning and my wife asked me which jersey I was going to wear to the game.

I told her, and this is the truth.  I have a feeling this is going to be a Webb kind of day.  So I wore my black Webb.

Glad I did too.  :D

Webb played well today however, he did get smoked on a out and up route that could've been 6pts for the Browns but it was overthrown.

I think Webb is getting better. I think his reaction and breaks on the ball are getting much better, likely due to the back being healthy. I'd hesitate to call this the Webb of old, or too close, but this is a Webb that could and will likely be more than able to handle number two receivers when Jimmy comes back. If the Ravens retain Will Hill, they'll have a really great group of core players

That was just a broken play though. I woukdn't say he got smoked.

Webb finally does ONE thing right.....against Conner Shaw.....and we get The Webb is back posts.

Webb has been horrid this year. And the only way he should stay on this team with the money he's making is if he miraculously helps in a championship run..shutting down QUALITY starting Wrs.

He's been steadily improving the past few weeks.  The interception today has absolutely nothing to do with it.  He was horrid earlier this year.  He's been returning to form as of late.

Say what you want but to me, that out and up route crushed Webb.  Smoked!  He was saved due to the broken play.

What quarterbacks has he faced "as of late"? And I'm sorry but I don't see any drastic step up in play to justify his return.

The QB doesn't matter.  He's been holding tight coverage.  He isn't the Webb of old, and I think the "amazing" in the title is pushing it, but he's clearly been doing much better lately.

Gotta work on your math skills.

He has done more than one thing right.

yeah, our inability to contain Antonio Brown is what cost us the last time up in Pittsburgh. If webb is not back it could be a real downer.

its very simple now rothlessburger must go down and he must go down hard.

Yea PFF has been taking notice too he's been very impressive but the guy across from him has been a diamond in the rough. Rashaan Melvin deserves some credit too

And go down quite often!

You've got it backwards. The only reason he was open was because the QB was scrambling around.

Which is WAY easier said than done.

He's looking better, but next week he's in for his biggest test in a while. I'm rooting for him, and hopefully the front seven does him a few favours, and a strong game from him would be huge.

It's more hope than anything, hence the question mark at the end of the topic. Yeah, he's been terrible. I've even personally said as much. He's been playing better recently in the past couple weeks, possibly indicating he's returning to form.  He's hardly the player he was, but he's improving. Whether it's against a Connor Shaw or Keenum, he's played well. That's on him not the poor QB. His coverage has been better, not that it was great before.

I don't think I got it backwards, we may be thinking of different plays.  Which play are you thinking about?

Worse is that his line is playing lights out. Bottom line is our secondary has to play better, which shouldn't be hard since they beyond bad last time

Just unleash him on Brown and see what he is up to. He has been steadily improving the last couple of weeks and next saturday will be his biggest test of the season
