Ravens Celebration Thread!

All I know is that in the playoffs Flacco outplayed both Manning and Brady in the playoffs.   Brady twice (DAMN YOU LEE EVANS!!!!).

BTW, just as an aside I read today Flacco will be the 1st QB in the Super Bowl era to make the first 6 out of 7 playoffs after being a first year starter.   Only Aaron Rodgers has done it as many times out of 7 seasons, but he also didn't start for 3 years after being drafted.

Ehh... sort of a myth.

Last 10 postseason games... 68% comp pct, 309 yards per game, 19 TDs, 9 INTs. The TEAM record during that stretch of 4-6 is where the myth occurs.

Ironically, Mr. Postseason, Tom Brady, hasn't performed as well as Peyton in his last 10 postseason games either... 61% comp pct, 274 yards per game, 18 TDs, 10 INTs... exact same 4-6 record during that stretch.

In fact, even looking at the career postseason stats of both guys, its kind of hard to justify one as "clutch" and one as a "choker"...

Brady: 62%, 247 yards/game, 43 TDs, 22 INTs... team averages 25 PPG in 26 games

Manning: 64%, 286 yards/game, 37 TDs, 24 INTs... team averages 23 PPG in 23 games

Again, this all comes back to this fan-generated notion of assigning 100% responsibility and 100% blame for all postseason success and failure to the QB, completely degrading the participation of other football players on the field.

Man! I was glad to see the above included in your post. It's tiring reading post that assign results, good or bad, solely on the QB.

If we are going to look at stats and not their play, Manning throwing more INTs than games played, and averaging a solid but not great 23 points per game pretty much indicates he is nothing special in the postseason. in fact, those int indicate he is a bit of a liability, because turnovers are magnified in the playoffs when you are facing that level of competition every week.

Stats aren't a good way to determine much of anything...how much of that production came in garbage time, for example?

Now that's funny!  This went to print?

Yes they apologized for it and there is now an article here about it as well.

It amazes me how the press still gets these 2 confused. Especially the press of the home state where Jim is making the big homecoming. Boy, someone at the paper is getting chewed out.

I'll admit he was really bad in Houston and didn't play well in Cleveland for a stretch there (the entire offense seemed off), but I don't think Shaw outplayed him. It was just watching two quarterbacks execute quick, open throws to see who could develop a rhythm faster and Flacco did

That's fair. You may be right. Just that he looked way better then he should have while being compared to Joe. For the one game that is. Certainly Joe has a vast career of experience so far and accolades far too extensive to list here.

Back to the celebration theme: just happened to catch a live segment on the local news. It's 7 AM here and cars are pouring into the stadium parking lot to get Ravenized. Way to go, fans. And way to go, Ravens, for offering this.

Was just watching the mic'd up, very cool

This is random but when did jerseys start having built in handwarmers like Joe and Steve were wearing? Pretty bizarre looking

Surprised the NFL allows those.  Someone's hand/finger can easily get caught up in those pockets and cause an injury.

Time for Flacco playoff time! Feels good to be back.

This says it all. Joe has to put this team on his back like he did two years ago and our receivers need to be up to the challenge. If Torrey plays like he did in the fourth quarter last week, SSS play like he did against the Saints, and Aiken and Brown keep doing their thing..................we can win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I posted this after the 1st Steelers game:

"This is the hardest I've seen our Ravens consistently hit, dominate on the O-Line, show purple fire and trust in each other in 3 years. The last 6 quarters played...they've defined themselves. Let's hope they 'nevermore' lose themselves again. This team could be really special in their own right. GO Ravens!!!"

Tonight will be the landmark finale of a new era. The Ravens' are back for good.
