Ravens Celebration Thread!

351 posts in this topic

Happen to be in the Baltimore area visiting my mother for the holidays...me,the wife and kids were gonna go to the stadium just to try and get autographs from players coming in and then find a place to eat and watch the game. We got there a tad late...1030 and we only saw about 7 ravens players go in..we got 3 autographs and then decided we couldn't possibly NOT go see the game live. Long story short we brought tickets from a group of scalpers that are always in front of the stadium. Paid a great price though I wouldn't recommend you do that...a lot could go wrong there.

I tell that story to say yesterday at the stadium was a great experience. The thrill of coming back...watching everyone on their phones trying to get KC updates...the energy come back into the building mid 4th. It was awesome.

I'm now 5-1 watching the Ravens play live. 3 of those games were patriot playoff games.

Anyway congrats Ravens..u guys overcame a lot of adversity this year.

Considering that we finished the season without our starting tackles, haloti, jimmy, pitta, all on top of the Rice hellstorm, playing the 2nd half of the season with corners signed off the street ect.. and we still finished with 10 wins and a wildcard.

If we lose next week..which I think we will, I will still be satisfied

I've been saying the same thing..

Unfortunately now we know we're playing the Steelers that does add a little pressure on us.

Steelers fans won't see all the Injuries and things that happened to us this year...they beat us..they'll let us know about it.

Considering all the next men up and no name guys Ozzie dug up, the fact that we are still playing really goes to him. No other team in the league has the dpth to survive the number of injuries and suspension of strters we had. None. At the beginning of the season, if you told people that you were going to replace Jimmy Smith and Asa Jackson with Rashad Melvin and Levine and still expect to win games, we would have scratch our heads. Or swapping Ngata for Jernigan, or Rice for Forsett. Or heavily relying on a Kamari Aiken as your clutch receiver. Lots of teams are happy if they hit on just one no name or has been to make the team better. I think about half of our starters are guys we came into the year expecting to just be depth. This year it feels like Ozzie managed to keep the wheels on despite a crazy amount of injury. Just amazing.

Right on point! You could never give enough credit to this guy. When it comes to GMs he is in the 'Elite' class.

In Oz we trust.

Seattle has done very well for itself this year too, considering they are not that far behind in players sent to IR.

Too your point though - sure, we are now playing with house money in the postseason and that does feel good.

Couldn't agree more here, Ive been to a good number of games over the years including the last two home playoff games, both against the colts ironically, and yesterday was as loud as I can remember the stadium getting. I remember at a point in the fourth after that catch by Torrey the stadium was almost as loud on offense as it was on defense and everyone had to get each other to quiet down so the ravens could actually hear the snap count. One of the greatest atmospheres Ive ever seen at M&T including playoff games

I don't know...very few outside of Charm City is going to give us a chance on Saturday night, rightfully so, BUT as someone pointed out earlier, we are playing with house money at this point and I think that suits us just fine.

That is really cool to hear, people love to say that Flacco isn't a leader but doing stuff like that shows otherwise.

Maybe if he was known for doing things like this more, his leadership wouldn't be questioned.

There is no AFC team that I wouldn't want the Ravens to face in the playoffs. Everyone of them needs to prove that they can be SB Champions to the last AFC team that actually won it. There's not team that we can't beat when we play our best ball. Who do I want to face? Whoever is our next up.

I didn't mean to imply that Shaw played well by any stretch of the imagination. It seemed that Joe just played worse. Although, I am not trying to start an argument as to which QB did what. My point is only saying that being critical of Joe for those 7-ish quarters is not unreasonable. He even admitted that those were not his finest moments as a Raven. They do not diminish his value to the team.

I'll admit he was really bad in Houston and didn't play well in Cleveland for a stretch there (the entire offense seemed off), but I don't think Shaw outplayed him. It was just watching two quarterbacks execute quick, open throws to see who could develop a rhythm faster and Flacco did

Falcons have a terrible team outside of their QB and WRs.

That said, Ryan did them no favors today. Not going to excuse a QB who threw 2 pick sixes. Certainly wouldn't if Flacco did it.

I'd take their secondary in a heartbeat. Trufant is better than every player not named Jimmy in the Ravens secondary and even then he looks like he'll rival Jimmy in a few years. Plus, I really like Alford. Can't remember the name of their FS, but he's done well for them.

Oh yeah Trufant is definitely a player. I remember Alford having a nice game against us. Jake Matthews is good too.

Everyone else? Meh.

I'd probably take their secondary too, if only because of secondary is full of PS players.

If the Ravens had a fully healthy secondary, meaning Webb of old and Jimmy, I'd take the Ravens, but even with a healthy Jimmy, I'd take the Falcons because Alford is a playmaker, even if he does get beat.

I don't think there team is super talented, but I can say the Ravens is more talented, but not by much just because the teams have edges in different places.

Was lucky enough to be there and the atmosphere turned from resignation into the best I've seen at the bank. Flacco's bomb to Torrey started off 4th quarter magic. Thank the defense for keeping it close and closing it out.

Big thank you to the Chiefs who are keeping our season alive for at least another week.

Feels good to be a playoff team and have the inane 'Haven't been to the playoffs without Lewis or Reed - Harbaugh sucks' sentiment behind us.

All you need is a ticket into the tournament, let's go!

The Falcons are what happens when you sacrifice depth for flash. Julio is great but was he worth it?

They were basically thinking "Matt Ryan will be like Peyton, we just need WRs and we'll be fine." Unfortunately for them Ryan is not Peyton. Tough break.

Not really optimistic about our chances in the playoffs but this is important. I'm tired of people (inside and outside of the fanbase) acting like every single success this team has had was because of Ray Lewis/Ed Reed, particularly Ray Lewis. Glad I won't have to hear that anymore.

Im actually confident about facing the Steelers. It will be a close physical game.I have no expectations in these playoffs cause i didnt even think KC would win.

Ryan is a poor man's Peyton....pretty stats, chokes in big games much more often than not.

Once a choker, forever a choker; Peyton got plenty of experiences in the playoffs....

Exactly. I just hope we don't come out playing scared next week. We start slow again it will kill us in the playoffs. If we can get the wrs in a rhythm early, it would be big.

Peyton had a really solid run game and an extremely opportunistic defense the year they won the Super Bowl. Something about the playoffs that year turned that defense around a ton and they forced the most turnovers of any team, by a good margin. Obviously part of that was playing more games, but Peyton even had a very complete team

Oh I know, I was speaking generally. Peyton was actually pretty poor in the playoffs when he won the SB outside the AFC title game.

This is exactly how I feel.  This team could have easily imploded and won 5 games.   And you could honestly look back and say "I can understand how that happened".   But no, the team fought to the very end and got 10 games.   And so they got in because the Chargers lost, SO WHAT??  It's not the Raven's fault or issue that Phillip Rivers can't get up for a big game and get his team into the playoffs.

Right now if the team had won 10 games and missed the playoffs, I would still be satisfied and the season would have been a success under the circumstances.   Anything that happens next week and beyond is simply icing on the cake.   If they lose to the Steelers Saturday night it will not diminish how I feel about the season.

He's NEVER been good in the postseason.

Ehh... sort of a myth.

Last 10 postseason games... 68% comp pct, 309 yards per game, 19 TDs, 9 INTs. The TEAM record during that stretch of 4-6 is where the myth occurs.

Ironically, Mr. Postseason, Tom Brady, hasn't performed as well as Peyton in his last 10 postseason games either... 61% comp pct, 274 yards per game, 18 TDs, 10 INTs... exact same 4-6 record during that stretch.

In fact, even looking at the career postseason stats of both guys, its kind of hard to justify one as "clutch" and one as a "choker"...

Brady: 62%, 247 yards/game, 43 TDs, 22 INTs... team averages 25 PPG in 26 games

Manning: 64%, 286 yards/game, 37 TDs, 24 INTs... team averages 23 PPG in 23 games

Again, this all comes back to this fan-generated notion of assigning 100% responsibility and 100% blame for all postseason success and failure to the QB, completely degrading the participation of other football players on the field.

The thing is that when team need Manning most, he threw a game losing interception.

So did Joe Flacco... and if I recall correctly, there's been at least one and probably more instances where Brady was attempting to lead his team to a game winning score and failed to do so...
