Ravens Celebration Thread!

351 posts in this topic

Celebrate away brother its a free country and there is nothing wrong with being happy to be in the Playoffs. Just playing the devils advocate here for hoping for more wins

Ahhh, so you're trying to do some reverse-jinxing? I like your style.

What's the difference? :P

A few notable differences actually: Steelers fans are without exception mullet haired, pot bellied and toothless transplants with a minimum of four stickers/emblems on their pick up that tell the world that they, like millions before them have left their beloved Pittsburgh to darken your fair state. I won't even get into the steeler fans who are male.

Please talk to us about the Steeler male fans next! Your description reminded me of those Steeler babes we see in all the dollar stores around town!

Cannot lose this game.. Just cannot

Why? We were hardly going to make the playoffs? Ain't no shame in losing to a good team? Don't get your expectations too high. When I woke up this morning I was expecting to beat the Browns but our season to be over.

I don't think we will win at Pittsburgh, but I also was expecting our season to be over, so I'm just happy we reached the playoffs for now. I'll worry about them later.

Go Ravens!

Ditto to both comments. Playoff appearance = successful season. No I don't care about how we win or who was on our schedule. We didn't make the schedule.

My point was this team is better than Ryans.

I agree. Overall, our 53 man roster is better than theirs but Matt Ryan has more offensive weapons than Joe has. I won't try to compare the O-lines. Suffice it to say, ours looks like a patchwork quilt right now. Today, they played alright despite some relentless pressure from Paul Kruger.

If our secondary was better, I think we could make a run as a wild card team as we have done before. But once again, we had some defensive lapses today in the secondary that nearly cost us the game. To their credit, they  surrendered only one TD but they were playing against an untested rookie QB. On Saturday, we have to face Pig Pen. He'll have a field day unless our secondary performs in a miraculous way. Do you believe in miracles? I do. Let's go, Ravens! Quoth the Raven, "Never More Shall The Steelers Score Against Baltimore." Let's just shut 'em out!

Listen up. There's a huge difference between being a pessimist and a realist. I love my team. I'm proud of my team. We did it through major adversity.

That said, we've played horribly lately against majorly inferior opponents.

I'm done. The wine is poured in a hand painted ravens glass. It gets busted out once a year. I'm proud. But I'm also realistic. Go ravens.

well, the nice thing about that is that there are no vastly inferior teams in the playoffs (at least in the AFC ....NFC South...ahem), so we won't have to worry about Case Keenum shredding our secondary :)

True. The wrs are better than ours, I'll never deny that.

This team can beat the the Steelers. The slow starts gotta end next week. If Bell misses the game or shows he's being hindered, we should be able to slow them down and just focus on AB. The offense will need to keep up though.

It sure is.

Better QB, better running game, better front seven, better HC. We made the post season playing in a division that produced half of the AFC playoff field. Ryan couldn't get his team to the playoffs in that JV division.

Better GM, better FO, etc, etc.

Flacco will never get 4k yards, I'm convinced. 14 yards short? Man.

A phantom PI on a game winning TD against SSS, and higher than league average in drops, cost Flacco a 4500 yard season....not too shabby when you consider what he has to work with and the division we play in.

I didn't think something as simple as what I said would be so hard for one person to comprehend. If you look at my post history about the Falcons, I'm no fan of them or Ryan, but it is what it is.

Falcons have a terrible team outside of their QB and WRs.

That said, Ryan did them no favors today. Not going to excuse a QB who threw 2 pick sixes. Certainly wouldn't if Flacco did it.

Oh I didn't read through all that, I just saw your post and jumped on the chance to brag about how we are clearly better than another team....I won't be able to say that again for the next few weeks :D

Ryan is a poor man's Peyton....pretty stats, chokes in big games much more often than not.

It's not the expectations..

It's just the fact that we cannot lose to the steelers in the playoffs yet again..

Really the only definitive difference in the rivalry over the past handful of years

Hell no, I wouldn't either. He's cost them games this season and the same can be said for Brees.

@Fly, I think we're better fully as a team, than the Steelers and Colts, even with our deficiencies. Every other team is a toss up. The team I'd least like to see if we managed to advance are the Broncos. They have the personnel to beat us. Two great edge rushers and a qb who strives in a short passing game. I think we could keep it close with the Patriots though.

No, not with our current injury situation....if all teams are at full strength, then I believe we just might be the most complete team in the NFL, or very close to it. But...with our secondary and OL issues...I have no expectations for this postseason, just high hopes

If you are a Raven's  fan, in this the year they have to hate us, step one has to be in Pittsbugh!  If it has to end, or we are to on go on,it has to start there!  We are?  :29:

Because you didn't see what he said, which is wrong.   They had a better RB, MUCH better WR's, MUCH better CB's, better safeties.   We have the better QB, slightly better LB's, better front 4.   They had a pretty matched up OL.

So no, for the last time, we do not have a better all around team than the Falcons.   Not this year especially with what we had to field.   And that's pretty much the last time I'm even going to talk about it.

The funny thing is that it all stemmed from Ryan wetting the bed today and throwing two pick-6's, which has nothing to do with the team around him.

err....I wasn't butting into your convo, just making the observation that we are clearly better...if you disagree, cool, but 10-6 vs 6-10, especially considering we play in the best division in football and they play in the worst, says all you need to know about who is better.

If we are just talking who is the better team on paper, our entire front seven is far better, Mosley/Suggs/Doom/Smith/McPhee, that is the best LB corp in the league, our DL is better, our QB is better, our running game has been better. They got WR and CBs on us, that's about it.

Well, you did when you answered him, LOL. And I absolutely disagree we're not clearly better. Even on paper they were better at RB. Did it work out that way? No. But we were better on paper at CB and look what happened. And we like our safeties now?

This happens to be a year where records are absolutely indicitive of level of play and not who took the field. Yesterday's game against the Panthers shows that. But that also seems to be subjective it appears. As I said, I'm kind of done discussing it.

Considering that we finished the season without our starting tackles, haloti, jimmy, pitta, all on top of the Rice hellstorm, playing the 2nd half of the season with corners signed off the street ect.. and we still finished with 10 wins and a wildcard.

If we lose next week..which I think we will, I will still be satisfied
