Michael Crabtree?

Here is a thought:

Ravens have been missing that true #1 receiver, right?  Ozzie prefers to bring in "seasoned" receivers more than draft them.  Only problem is that they're usually on the wrong side of 30 by the time they get here.  Crabtree could check all those boxes.  So what if he was available as a 2015 UFA?

Michael Crabtree is apparently unsure of his future status with the 49ers.  He's over a season removed from his Achillies injury and may not last with his coach's future also up in the air.  Best part is that he'll be 28y/o week 2 of the 32015 season.

He hasn't lived up to expectation this year, but how much of that is due to the circus of the 49ers/Harbaugh "dance" this season?  Is he still capable of being a top receiver and should the Ravens actively pursue him this off season?

I wouldn't want to bet on him being the top receiver on the team, but I think he would be a noticeable improvement over the ones we have now. And I think Kubiak's style of offense fits him.

As is typical, price tag will probably be an issue.

Will arguably be one of the more sought out WRs on the market, and will probably not a have a problem getting pretty good money.

I'd rather draft someone. He's let Boldin come to San Francisco and take his cookies. Since Anquan got there, I haven't heard squat about Crabteee, though part of that is probably from how bad Kaep is.

I'd say his lack of production is a combination of still recovering, Kaep having an awful season, and just the 49ers offense not using a lot of different receivers.

Crabtree would make a good addition to this team, but he will carry a high price tag. I would assume that he will get paid more than Torrey because he has more name recognition and is more than just a vertical threat.

Doesn't sound right.

He's planning on getting paid. We also still have Jimmy Smith and Torrey Smith to worry about, even with Jimmy's player option, it's still a risk on losing a shutdown CB, which is so rare now. Yes, Torrey will stay, he's a great character and still has potential to be great, his TD numbers are still career highs. I just think if we need a true #1 WR, we need to address that in the draft, this upcoming one specifically.

To add, I think it would be better for us, if a team like Kansas City, who I know is cap strapped, could work out the kinks and maybe sign Crabtree, that would be really good for us, gives us a real shot at either Parker/Strong/White.

I like the idea of bringing him here but i dont think he has proven enough to demand the amount of money he is going to want.  Im sure someone will over pay him and i know it wont be us.  I dont think drafting a wr will be the answer, we will never go after one in the first round and even if we did, we would be picking too late to grab an elite one.

Interesting prospect. It would certainly be a very Ozzie move to wait and snap him up a week into FA, and as you say it would be a higher-percentage move than drafting one and would pay off faster (no rookie learning curve).

That said, I'd personally prefer those FA dollars to go into a stop-gap CB (or two). Or another TE.

he isent a true #1 so fans would still be complaining afterwards.

he will demand to much money and we dont have that much cap.

we will focus on first resigning who we want to keep which would eat cap space.

its possible but highly unlikely.

i wont bet on it.

always liked crabtree and thought he was underrated. his ability far outnumbers his production in my opinion, he is just on a total sideshow of an offense, he shined BIG TIME when kaepernick first took over and teams didnt realize to just zone cover with a spy to stop him from running AND throwing.

the thing that scares me tho, is even if we paid that big salary for him to come here, 1. he is a diva. and 2. he doesnt seem to do any one thing at an elite level, i like his YAC ability, but he gets embarrassed when singled against the big and tough elite corners, such as sherman and more importantly jimmy smith, he is big and physical but not enough to play big against top tier corners, and he isnt fast enough to scare off the press coverage that comes from those elite corners. he is a great #2 but will be looking for #1 money, and as a #1 he will only shine against bad secondaries, if we were to draft someone like strong/white then id kinda be for it since we would have the cap room with our #1 WR being on a rookie contract, but at the same time our cap space would be much better spent in the secondary, i think the ravens have leverage to give torrey a very affordable contract with all his drops and spikes of bad play, id rather take that option.

In the words of Richard Sherman Crabtree is garbage mediocre at best. He has generally not been super productive and has to many injury concerns. Honestly he isn't the best WR on the 49ers that would be Boldin. Finally, he would be to expensive. I will pass on Crabtree and roll with what we have and spend the money on some CBs.

While we don't have that true number 1 WR I think 1-6 we are as good as anyone. Pick your poison with Steve making big plays and tough catches or Torrey having a much better last month and change racking up TDs and PI calls. Marlon and Kamar have made some nice plays and tough catches and Jacoby now hat he has often over his drops is always a Threat to take one to the house. That said use the money elsewhere the secondary mainly.

He's also had off-field issues....  Not thinking we go after him.  His name and reputation is going to demand more $$$.

Just two names for you...  Aiken and Brown....  Those are OUR guys and have sooooooo much potential...  Let's see where they go...   Pick someone really good up in the draft....  Corner and WR come first next year.

I would pass on Crabtree. let's develop someone in via the draft.

If the Ravens miss the playoffs for 2 consecutive seasons, Ozzie and Co. are gonna do everything possible to right the ship. They're going to try to improve immediately at WR and that would probably mean bringing in a proven vet, no time to "try" and develop a rookie at WR. I'm interested to see the fallout with the Bears. Wondering if Brandon Marshall or Alshon Jeffery decide to leave.

SSS has been dropping a lot of passes of late and should not be relied on as a workhorse. Torrey is inconsistent as all hell. He'll have an amazing game against a bad defense (like the Saints or Bucs) and then vanish for the next three games. He gets manhandled at the line of scrimmage far too often, and I'd wager that most of Flacco's interceptions come from when he's trying to get the ball to Torrey. The Ravens have, beyond any shadow of a doubt, the worse receiving core in the AFC North.

Dream on. ...Sorry, Brandon Marshall is under a new contract with the Bears. Jeffrey is under cotract as well.

We play Seattle next year, do we really want Richard Sherman in Crabtree's head the week leading up to and during the game?

I doubt the Ravens wouldn't exclude a player from being added due to us playing a team once every four years...

Whether or not we play the Seahawks next season or not would have zero impact on the decision.

No thanks, the Ravens are maxed out on # 3's.

Im not a "get a damn WR" every round in the draft proponent but I can see them getting 1 or 2 in the draft this year.

I like Tyler Lockett slight dude but damn is he a dynamic play maker an Antonio Brown type.

Maryland loves Crabs, but Im not sure about Crabtrees. If he was released, I think he is more talented (or younger) than some on our team, but he's still not a guy I would want us to over pay.

As for drafting a WR, given a history with that, If it's not in the first 2 rounds, not worth our time. Free agency is the way to go.

Well, hopefully fans are thinking from a more long-term perspective as well...

dont get your hopes up on that.

most fans here would trade up and mortage the future to draft a WR in the top 10 or put the team over the cap just to sign a #1 WR.

they are so obsessed that  i havent seen 1 coming up with a realistic solution  yet lol

BPA is long term vision of drafting.

Reaching is short term vision of drafting.

wish some would get this lol
