Week 17 Discussion (Other Teams)

I come back from getting something to eat and the Rams are up 6-0. I do agree that guys like Wilson are overrated, but that Rams defence is serious business.

Honestly, I think that whole division is for real.  The Niners were devastated by injuries this year, but you know they're solid, apart from a question at QB and the uncertainty caused by the vacancy at head coach.  The Rams have been building that defence for years, and you know that Jeff Fisher knows what he's about.  And Arizona and Seattle's records speak for themselves.

The Rams and Cardinals are one in the same. Both have great defenses but neither have franchise QBs who can take advantage of the defense and put up enough points to win games.

Anybody who thinks that Matt Ryan is in the same class as Joe Flacco needs to watch these games.  I always laugh when Ryan fails.

As for Rodgers, that could be serious.  You had to think that Green Bay was going to make some noise in the playoffs.  If he misses time, it's all over.

Me too! I love it when Ryan fails. I am still annoyed that he won RotY, and all those years that everyone said he was sooo much better.

I already got what I wanted for Christmas. Watching Matty Ice right now is a Happy New Year for me.

Matt Ryan with 2 pick sixes in a playoff clinching game at home. Yet somehow he always escapes the "overpaid QB" discussion in the national media.

Wow.  Ryan is really melting down.  This is... not shocking, given what he's done in the past, but the scale of it is a little surprising.  Makes you wonder if Atlanta might have to go looking for a new QB sooner than we thought they might.

He's not going anywhere. And he shouldn't.

That said, it's pretty unusual for a team with a good QB to win only 10 games in 2 years. The rest of their team is pretty bad too.

Give Matt Ryan an NFL-calibre OL and a half-decent running game and his contract looks a lot better. Same as Joe or anyone else. I think he's a franchise QB (watch him carve it up if he goes to the Rams, Browns or Cardinals), but his supporting cast is dreadful.

Agreed, his OL is like ours last year. Good receivers but not much else.

And he's forcing stuff because he knows this.

No, I agree that he'll definitely be there next year.  Really, if you just look at his numbers, he's a very good QB.  But he just can't contend.  He's in that uncanny quarterback valley, where he looks like he should be doing things, but he just can't win a game that counts for something.  When he's getting into the later years of his extension, two years down the road, we'll see what happens.

Yeah, they have a defence that gives up an enormous number of yards, and they've had some injuries that have hampered their elite receivers.  But ultimately, it falls to him to overcome, just as it does for Flacco.

Ryan has never been nearly as good as they say even when they falcons were making the playoffs, I didn't watch the pats game because it was meaningless to both teams. Did we rest our important players? I assume we did and the team didn't care. Also congrats ravens fans for the playoff spot had you guys making it the whole time and see you against the steelers next week.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not one to oppose a good round of Falcons-bashing, but if we defend Joe for being a good QB with a rubbish line last year (and swap the receivers and running game) we should at least be fair enough to give Ryan the same excuses.

I'm not usually one of these guys. But I'm sure when NFLN and ESPN show these Panthers vs Falcons highlights for division title they are gonna say things like " oh matty ice with no protection, he's desperate trying to make a play and throws a pick " but if it were us vs Steelers same scenario it would be flacco just losing the game throwing it right to the opposing team.

First time in NFC South history a team wins back to back division titles.

Also first ever back to back playoff berths for the Panthers franchise.

Huge fan of Cam Newton, I'm happy for them.
