Perhaps the Harbaugh era needs to come to an end?

214 posts in this topic

John Harbaugh is a great coach...so is Jim Harbaugh and we all know where that is going...it doesn't matter...what matters is when production stops, change is necessary...that my young friends is how life is..

Yup, and you typically change the people who are most responsible for that... which in this case would be some personnel.

I know, radical thought right... not firing coaches just for the sake of change and actually upgrading personnel.

Reminds me of the same people who thought Juan Castillo was the problem... oops...

...lot of good responses from you all who are so happy with mediocre play and coaching...and yea...if that doesn't change, that PSL will be sold...yea I am a fan who expects more...actually I expect the best..."a fan problem"...you're kidding right?

damn right it's a you problem, not a Ravens problem. And getting rid of Harbaugh is a ridiculous idea. He is not the problem. Five CBs on the IR and WRs who trip over their own feet is our problem

I am a devote Ravens fan, but I am disgusted at the level of play...tired of status quo, tired of three point wins, tired of multi-score losses...tired of the endless excuses...tired of being told it is what it is and accept it...tired of spending thousands of dollars on this crap every year...sometimes change (albeit painful) is necessary in order to move forward...Let's face it...Harbs/Ravens are heading in the wrong direction...

Become a redskin fan, atleast they are consistent.

Wait a minute  Don't throw the captain off the ship  The ship is the problem.  After the SB we had a stellar team but it was disected and in 13 we had to win two games for playoffs.  This year we had devastating injuries and the whole Ray/ Ngata melee. Other teams in the league are far worse off.  Just up I-95 the Eagles are losers at 9-6  I say to all the negators wait until the year is over then you all can wave the white flag.

We still have another game and another chance.

You know....  Why every year do we call for some coach's or coordinator's head.  (That's a statement not a question).  Here's the question....  WHO would you replace him with???????   It's a ridiculous proposition.  The truth is we are still a very competitive team.  To get rid of a coach that has consistently won games, and finishes the season at 10-6 (which would normally get you into the postseason) would be absolutely ludicrous... Oh yeah.... and he's given us a Super Bowl too.  We have a BRAND NEW offense that we implemented this year, and a lot of new and younger players on this team.  Some that have not yet developed to their fullest potential.  We've had SIGNIFICANT injuries this season that have hindered our performance....  and with the other off-field debacles, we weathered them pretty well considering...  This is just crazy talk...  and these issues and things we've dealt with cannot be pinned on coordinators or coaches.

It's time for Eugene Monroe's era to come to and end. Harbaugh had a lot of great position coaches. Best in the NFL at their crafts, gone to promotions on other teams. Some became head coaches. How does Bellichick handle this. He's the genius behind the Patriots. He puts together a great offensive line. Nuff said

Well, that's not happening, because it costs more to cut him than to keep him.

Eugene Monroe is extremely likely to be the starting LT for the Ravens in 2015. As a fan, deal with it.

Make no mistake guys... this topic is moot. Much like the fan-generated phantom "Harbaugh doghouse", this notion that Harbaugh's job is in jeopardy isn't realistic.

If you're expecting him to be fired, now is the time to prepare yourself for inevitable disappointment.

Nick Saban. Not saying anything, just putting it out there.

I guess you didn't notice how that worked out for Miami.

He'd be taking a paycut...

Not to mention that's where he wants to be anyway....  He wanted that when he accepted the job in Miami....  and then swore up and down he wasn't going to Alabama....  and then a month later.....  went to Alabama...  Wouldn't want that here...

I know. Expressing our opinions is how we deal with it, as fans. We are entitled you know. I'd say Monroe is among the bottom 5 tenured left tackles in the league.

Tired of being competitive.....  We'd have something to complain about if we were the Raiders, Bucs, or even Lions or Titans....  Come on folks...  I'm sorry...  this is just ridiculous.

lol Saban is a God in the state of Alabama. No way he's giving that up for a chance to fail in the pros again.

Then I'd suggest you watch some other games this week, and in particular, watch the LTs. You will see what REAL bottom 5 LTs look like.

No reasonable person thinks Monroe is a bottom five LT in this league. He's not top 5, but then again, he was never expected to be either.

Read mine  I feel the same. Except I believe the WR;s don't trip over their feet.  We are still in this at 9-6 Not 6-9.   What ifs come into mind. The SD, Colts, and both Bengals games were winnable. But that was then and this is now.  It is what it is.  Fight On Don't quit. Browns up next.

Mom Gene: You have the attitude. Too many negators here.  We still have chances.  The season is NOT over. My son and I are going to the Browns game and he is a Dolphins fan.  He said we never quit.   Talk about fans that throw in the towel  They are quitting before a game starts. He's not like that but his four friends were when I sat with them

My son can give a discertation on the flaws of one N.Saban.  He is hated by Dolphins fans.  Include Philbin on that list.

i hate harbs post game new conferences where he tells you how good the terrible team the ravens just beat. that being said this team is overachieving and a lot of that is because of the mindset that harbs establishes for the team which is keep improving and  don;t take the foot off the pedal. he is a hard driver. we have no receivers, no secondary, our pro bowl nose tackle is on a drug suspension, our pro bowl RB struck his wife and is gone, our best receivers carreer ended in the third game of the season. its amazing that this team may win 10 games even if it doesn't go to the playoffs with the talent that they have.

have you watched some of these other teams wiht more talent then the ravens. they are awful. the ravens would kill for the redskins receiving corp and running back and they can only win 4 or 5 games. if harbs had the talent of the bengals he would get that team to the SB.

The Ravens are still living in 2002 with the way they build their teams. All thr emphasis on run defense, drafting a safety who can't cover in round 1, bargain basement talent at WR, etc etc.

Lol this is funny - we lost to Houston and Pittsburgh by a combined 32 points while trading 20 point beatdowns with Pitt.  The other 4 losses on the season were by a combined 18 points, we almost beat Cincy twice by virtue of a failed stop on their last drive in one game and failure to convert on our last drive in the other game.  We're going to finish at worst 9-7, more likely 10-6. Every other HC retread out there has several losing seasons on his resume.  I love how after a loss people come out here and act like every player and coach on the team can be replaced by just about any guy at the local 7-Eleven.

1. Well, if there's one thing we know about the present day NFL, its that there's very little correlation between top-end WRs and winning postseason games.

2. In the playoffs, there's still two things you have to be able to do... stop the run and run the ball.

3. I do agree that they appear to have whiffed on Elam and that the safety position has evolved, but whiffing on one late first round pick is hardly the kiss of death for a franchise.

I just want consistency.

Even if it's consistently bad...just be consistent.

Don't score 30 pts and look capable one week only to struggle to put up 7 the next. This has been the Ravens m.o. and it's beyond frustrating.

I think this is what we want, last year when we lost all the players,as a whole we were cool with a loosing season,BUT we played and despite major problems we were winning.8-8 We gave him a pass. This year The expectations was high and HARB can not deliver CONSTANCY, yes we know our secondary sucks,

Our WRs have never been elite but they were fantastic in our SB run. I won't bother invoking the B word but Pitta and Torrey made some tough catches. Haven't seen Torrey do anything like his 2nd TD pass in Denver since.

Why were the expectations high? Did you honestly believe this team was going to be a SB contender? What was the basis for that expectation?

In the preseason, my expectation was 10-11 wins, and a likely playoff berth. We might fall short of that, but certainly not short enough for me to want to burn the place down.

Points scored this year:

Week 1 - 16

Week 2 - 26

Week 3 - 23

Week 4 - 38

Week 5 - 13

Week 6 - 48

Week 7 - 29

Week 8 - 24

Week 9 - 23

Week 10 - 21

Week 11- 34

Week 12 - 33

Week 13 - 28

Week 14 - 20

Week 15 - 13

So, two weeks out of the entire year scoring under 15 points, and no weeks scoring 7.

I'm failing to see this M.O. you are talking about.

I'm still waiting for someone to answer me about our supposed lack of consistency,

Right, but they were fantastic for a four game stretch in the playoffs. There wasn't much special about Boldin or Torrey for the entire regular season, yet we still managed to win plenty of games.

There's no doubt that the franchise could use upgrades at the receiver position, but it wouldn't really classify as a necessity in my opinion. Its more of a luxury item.

Getting that elite #1 WR has been a dream of every Ravens fan for probably a decade now, and maybe one day it will come. But its unlikely to come via FA, because we are unlikely to have that sort of coin to throw around anytime soon. It will most likely have to come through the draft, which we are notoriously not great when it comes to talent evaluation and development.

Perhaps this franchise is destined to be one that takes a couple stabs at some young receivers in the draft, hopes to hit one, and fills the gaps with short-term veterans. We know that's a formula that can win, as long as other parts of the team are addressed as well.

Upgrading the receiver position is certainly the flavor of the week due to the most recent performance we saw, and we all know how much fans like to react almost exclusively to the last thing we saw (see the thread earlier this season about us being the best team in the entire league).

But the secondary is still the biggest short and long-term problem on this team in my eyes, and that's the NEED area for the offseason in my opinion.
