Perhaps the Harbaugh era needs to come to an end?

I am a devote Ravens fan, but I am disgusted at the level of play...tired of status quo, tired of three point wins, tired of multi-score losses...tired of the endless excuses...tired of being told it is what it is and accept it...tired of spending thousands of dollars on this crap every year...sometimes change (albeit painful) is necessary in order to move forward...Let's face it...Harbs/Ravens are heading in the wrong direction...

1. Obvious overreaction.

2. Technically, they are heading in the right direction. Last season we won 8 games, and this season we will have won at least 9 and probably 10. That, by definition, is heading in the right direction. There is nobody that would argue that the 2014 Ravens are worse or even equal to the 2013 Ravens... they are better, and better in almost every aspect of football (except probably the secondary).

The only REAL problem is fan expectations, which have become unreasonable. You expect an 8-8, clearly rebuilding franchise coming off a SB victory to get back to the dance two years later.

What that is, quite simply, is a FAN problem, not a Ravens problem.

If you want to be a realistic fan, its time to realize one simple truth... wholesale changes aren't coming. Again, that's a fan expectation problem, not a Ravens problem.

Sure why not. Fire the man who hasn't had a losing season since he became HC. Who do you suggest? Hey! Rex is about to get fired probably! Maybe he'll come back for the HC gig.

Since Harbaugh has taken over, the Ravens have had seven straight seasons with an above .500 record, five trips to the playoffs (winning at least one game every time), and a superbowl win. Do you know how many teams would kill to have had that kind of run over the last seven years?

Also, take a look at the Browns for a moment. That has been a team that absolutely refuses to ever fully commit to one HC or qb. It's why the quarterback that got them into the playoff hunt in the first place is now Manziel's backup. How has that win now or you're fired mentality worked out for them? Meanwhile, the Bengals (a team with an absolutely horrible track record at the time) made a full commitment to Marvin Lewis. Despite some of their missteps, they've been one of the most consistently good teams since he's gotten there. Stability is a good thing, and jumping ship after a winning coach has a down season usually comes back to bite a team in the butt.

I understand your frustration. However that will only destabilize the franchise, especially with a coach who has only won every season he has been here. He has never had a loosing season. No reason to change HC.

The problem I really see with the ravens is the lack of true identity as a team over the past 2 years. What happened to our hard nose football. yes I realize the nfl has changed secondary to patient safety but smash mouth football is ravens football. Our defense ( front 7) still has that mentality but our offense has moved away from that mentality except for a select few like yanda/KO.

I really like Flacco and think he is a good QB but I want to see the ravens play ravens football with a Jamal Lewis/ Hill/ Bell type Rb to wear down a defense with power running game and then Flacco to do play action a throw a bomb to one of the Smith's

...yea, yea...I know the stats...problem is the play has been mediocre (with some exceptions which the Ravens were lucky to win those games) and we fans are supposed to except as great football...point is (and you will learn this when you grow up)...when you are a manager of men and those men don't produce and worse you loose the ability to control their production...

...it's time to make a change...

this is just a discussion,no need to get angry, I am that couch QB when I am not at the game(living in atlanta from west baltimore) As a fan yes I do expect the best and I do trust the  FO and their decisions so I am down with the RAVENS.

but look at the point that is made,

Last year we gave HARB a pass, but we had 2-4 games we should have won,,FACT

this year no difference we have games we should have won FACT

you 2 have many post here, this is just a question. When  should we start to expect more?

If you look at his after game media address it's the same thing.come on guys.

last year we went down to the wire needing help this year down to the wire needing help.

Did you hear suggs wired,he said in the beginning all he cared about was stats and probowls,in 2006 his mindset changed he wanted wins. Now I am not saying Harb just want stats, but to me allot of people here talk about his wins (happy for the wins) but is about more.AS a head coach if your team is starting slow go to you OC and make him change up.HARB will not do it cause well it does not matter my personnel views.  you 2 hall of famers I am not advocating fire anybody but he has a point.

Harbaugh, overall, does a great job of managing the team.

Harbaugh, overall, does a poor job of managing the games.

During games, he has a tendency to be overly reactive, while not being sufficiently proactive.

Harbaugh can hold a team together to keep them from completely folding, which is why he has never had a losing season yet.

But he will cost your team several games with both his decisions and indecision.

People talk about Joe having a deer in the headlights look, but I see that more often from Harbaugh when he's on the sidelines staring with his mouth open in incredulity as to what's happening, unable or unwilling to intervene.

I am as mad as anyone about the last 2 seasons but we need to use common sense here. Harbs deserves another chance simply because of his past performance/record. It would be like when the Chargers fired Schottenheimer and we would probably pay for it the same. If players continue to come out flat and completely unprepared to play next year I'm all for some change

We haven't had a bad season this year. We have a real chance at the playoffs. Once in your playoffs anything can happen

John Harbaugh is a great coach...so is Jim Harbaugh and we all know where that is going...it doesn't matter...what matters is when production stops, change is necessary...that my young friends is how life is..

I agree with unrealistic expectations being a fan problem but I have to partially blame NFL media for influencing how today's fans think.  You see it all over the internet like a disease.  These "professional" sports analysts constantly perpetuate the fantasy of one to two season turnarounds for franchises with draft prodigies and off-season acquisitions.  They write as if building for a dynasty isn't the way to win any more.

...oh and just so I am not misunderstood...I'm not expecting SB, playoffs or even wins...I just want to see good football from the Ravens...not just the 3 point wins...

Too many times I see Harbaugh just being a fan on the sideline....Yet I see Belicheck saying to himself"if they do this, we counter with that"....College vs Pro

Funny thing with Flacco is that he can be frustrating to watch a lot of times, but he's still a solid Top 10 QB. Odds are heavily stacked that you're not going to find anyone as good, nevermind better, if you get rid of him.

I can't see how anyone can make the same argument for coaches like Harbaugh or Tomlin though despite their impressive W-L records. You could probably replace Harbaugh with any NFL-caliber HC or top tier college coach, and the Ravens probably wouldn't be any worse off. The organization as a whole is one of the best in the NFL and combined with finally having a legit franchise QB, the Ravens would probably continue to have winning seasons under just about anyone.
