Steve Smith lashes out on critical fans

210 posts in this topic

I don't take offense to his comments at all.

What I do know is that if he'll criticize fans, he deserves some criticism as well.  For all the good he's done, he's let entirely too many catchable balls bounce off of his hands at critical moments.

Instead of running his well-paid mouth, he needs to focus on performing on the field better. Perhaps his wife does know something she ain't sharing about his stamina as he hasn't amassed more than 70 yards and 1 touchdown in a single game in the last month.

I'm glad he said it.  I don't care if your money supports the league.  I hate fans that think they know better than the actual coaches and players that have had their fair share of success.

He's right the play on the field will dictate what happens not criticism off it. But that said, NOBODY on the team is above criticism especially after today's performance.

Fans have every right to be critical. Not to be Horses reares certainly, but to be reasonably critical. I have never heard him get all bent out of shape when the fans praise him. Maybe he needs to man up and except the criticism along with the praise. If he did his job and caught the passes there would be no criticism.

As far as I'm concerned, fans can say whatever they want to say about players and teams, and players can say whatever they want about fans. It's a free country, except when it comes to movies about North Korean dictators.

He sounds like a whiner. He's not above criticism. Especially considering he's been a no show since the Saints game.

As much as I loved him at first, it's comments like these that alienate fans and make you look like a pretentious jerk. Hey Steve, don't be an jerk, play better, and do your damn job. Maybe you should be more concerned with your performance than critical fans.

It's classless and soft to criticize your own fans.

I'm seeing why Carolina cut him.

Same. I've noticed all season long that he'll jog through routes if we're losing or if he's not getting targeted. Now I see the bad side of his diva attitude.

He's a frontrunner. Surprised he hasn't completely thrown Flacco under the bus yet.

I think he knows that would spell the end of his career, or at least his stint in Baltimore.

In Smith Sr's defense. What was he brought to Baltimore for? Certainty not to be the work horse. He completely surpassed my expectations. I only imagined 800 yards. 1000 at the age of 35 is an amazing achievement. To say this is a disappointing year for Steve is a very invalid statement. It's Torrey Smith who had a down year.

I wonder how Harbaugh is handling SSS. We've obviously seen all of the rumors about him and strong personalities in the past. More curiosity than anything else.

For the last month:  5 rec for 49 yds & 0 TDs ... 5 rec for 37 yds & 0 TDs ... 7 rec for 70 yds & 1TD ... 1 rec for 2 yds & 0TDs (in a game where your team lost by 1 pt) in the midst of fighting for your playoff life and you're talking about fans?

Yea, 'cause that's a problem that needs to be addressed.   You worry about Cleveland, learning how to get separation without pushing off and praying to the NFL gods that San Diego loses.  We'll worry about the fat, lazy couch quarterbacks.

Lol if he needs that to justify himself have at it big guy...

But you ain't done crap for awhile now. Thanks for what you contributed and you're still worth the price tag when you look at the season as a whole but yea just shut up and enjoy your offseason now since the team laid an egg twice this month

What else are we "fat, lazy, sorry couch quarterbacks" supposed to say?

Aside from 1 game, you've been stinking up the field since the bye week, Steve!

When are you going to start icing up again, son?

Because the Browns game would be a good time, you know.

There's two ways to think about it... 1, he should worry about his own poor play and inconsistent success, analyze himself...

2, People will always judge others.. Especially ones that are making millions playing a kids game, on TV... Acting as if they're untouchable from criticism ..

I don't really see a point in him making that comment... Then again, I was never a big fan of him coming here or a big fan of his in the first place.

I'm tired of his board hands and tired of his mouth. Shut up and catch the ball. That's what you are being paid to do.

He's not wrong but they do this after every loss - even wins, sometimes. He should know not to feed the trolls but he's not singling out Ravens fans, as the article indicates.

The man probably has more catches than any of the other WRs.

Pretty sure he helped us win both the Saints and Dolphins game.
