Saying this as a Flacco supporter who's made similar arguments in the past, but guys like Rodgers, Peyton, and Brady are held to a different standard because they're expected to do a lot more for their offenses and franchises than Flacco (also throw in Roethlisberger and Eli, if it makes you feel better). Those guys get a pass for the handful of bad games they have every year because without them their teams aren't doing anything.

What!!!?

What!!!?

Yeah, I've seen Matt Flynn light it up in Green Bay and Matt Cassel take the Patriots the playoffs. I wouldn't say they aren't doing anything without their quarterbacks

I agree that Marlon Brown and Kamar Aiken should be given all opportunities to be our prime recievers.  They are young, familiar with our system and hungry for the chance.

I see what you mean.  They get the pass card..  In my opinion, their records including  their great teams coupled with special media adoration gave them this prominance.

Ummm, ok.   Then by this standard this team should have been able to do just fine with Kyle Boller and Troy Smith as our QB.

This team didn't become a consistent playoff contender until Flacco arrived.   So how do we get to this statement?

You know Rice.....came......the..........same.................year...........................as..........................Flacco.

Right?  :)

And didn't Kyle Boller have Jamal Lewis?    And a top ranked defense?

I know that. What I say doesn't change the fact it's true as well...

Also, Rice unlike Flacco, has earned All-Pro and Pro- Bowl nods.

Michael Vick has Pro Bowls too, don't he? Pro Bowls don't matter.

I get what you're saying, but Vick was an awesome player.  He'd still be a starter had he not gone to jail for being an animal killer

That's why I put the All-Pros first... also, he probably earned those nods when he did get them.

How do you expect Joe to win All Pros with Manning, Brady, Brees, etc ahead of him? The competition of All Pro is much deeper at QB than at RB. That's a fact.

There are a plethora of rbs. Don't make it seem like it's easier because of the numbers at the position. Your play will help dictate. AP, MJD, Charles, Lynch, McCoy, Chris Johnson... there was a gang of competition. You may look a these names and think of where they are now, but in there prime, when Rice was going against them, he still made it, so....

That's fair. But still, if history is any indication, quarterbacks bring consistency, not running backs.

I honestly wasn't trying to deny that being true. Just making a point. Flacco has definitely stabilized the position for us. Sure would be good to have a healthy rb back there now though. We're hurting at the rb position.

I don't think anyone wouldn't say there's more quality RBs than QBs in the NFL.  But I'd be hard pressed to find someone who thinks a RB has more to do with the quality of a team than a QB. I would say QB and Head Coach have the most to do with quality.  And then general offensive line.  Than the back himself.

Time to let it go...We got spanked by the Texans, as outplayed and out-coached....

The focus now is to beat the Browns and prayer for KC win.....

People are saying this might be Joe's worst game of his career. Did anyone see the Buffalo game?

Actually, he played better in his Buffalo game. He was moving the offense and he still put the Ravens in a position to possible win late in the game. The only reason it turned out bad was because he was asked to throw like fifty times.

Watching the game again and wow Flacco was bad even when there was no pressure. In the 2nd Q 3rd and 10 with 1:08 he had Marlon Brown running wide open down the field but instead he try's to throw a floater to Owen Daniels which was incomplete. The drive before he had steve smith open down the field which he under threw. We can't blame the recievers and O line for those plays. They were all on Flacco, I swear sometimes he just has tunnel vision

I think the Texans had him rattled early and he started feeling pressure when it wasn't there. It's a really effective strategy against a lot of QBs and I'd argue we did it to Ben in week two.

If you're going back just one game then it's your memory that needs checking.  Dropped passes, blown routes, poor separation among the occasional catch is not worth the salary he earns. Nope.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla ice cream. We don't all think alike and you can thank God for that! My point is that JJ's performance this year or lack thereof is not the main reason for the team's inconsistent performance. He has certainly bailed us out a number of times since coming to Baltimore. If the front office did not think he was worth the money, they wouldn't have re-signed him, huh? Remember, In Oz We Trust & The Spirit of Christmas Lies In Your Heart. Merry Christmas!

Right, but his re-signing and his salary is almost exclusively based on his performance as a kick returner. He doesn't really bring anything to the offense that another player higher on the depth chart doesn't already bring, hence why he doesn't see a lot of snaps offensively.

Its something that any reasonable fan should have expected based on our offseason.
