Week 16 Discussion (Other NFL Teams)

774 posts in this topic

I don't know why so many people think this. Folks are letting Cowboys teams of the past color their perception. This is a Cowboys team that is undefeated on the road (INCLUDING at Seattle). Dominant OL and run game, good passing game, and opportunistic defense. That's a recipe for playoff success.

Frankly, I think SEA is overrated. Their defense is "back" because they've been feasting on crap offenses (and they'll do so again tonight). I think DAL wins again if they meet in the playoffs. If I'm putting money down give me the Cowboys as the NFC favorites.

Well the first game they have will be at home where they haven't been hot (bar this current game against the LOLTS). And then you have mr unclutch romo and a terrible defense. Either way I see them getting smacked badly by one of the top teams or barring that losing a close one to a wildcard team.

Romo in the past has been unclutch because he overextends himself knowing his defense is bad and he has no run game. That's not the case this year. If unclutch Romo were to appear, it would've happened today since it's a clinching scenario. It hasn't yet.

The 8-8 "accident waiting to happen" Cowboys are gone. These current Cowboys are, in my opinion, the most complete team in the NFC.

Detroit would actually be the single worst matchup for them. The only DL that can handle that OL in all likelihood.

I have seen dallas' defense it really isn't good at all. They have a pretty sweet O line and demarco murray and dez bryant are always a threat. But other than that I see no real reason to believe that they could go to lambeau and beat green bay with that putrid D.

It's not great but it's not the worst ever, which is a step up for them.

GB's defense isn't great either. I'm taking the combination of Dallas O/Dallas D over Green Bay O/Green Bay D. Could absolutely see Murray running all over GB in a way Lacy wouldn't. But I'd agree that GB is a bigger threat to them than SEA, because SEA relies on good field position from defense to score.

Honestly, I can see the Cowboys going to the SB.  I'd very rather see that than see GB in it.

Absolutely. I'm hoping for a Dallas/Detroit title game. Give me something new.

I agree with you guys!  I absolutely love what I am seeing from these Cowboys!  They are ballin'.  They look playoff ready and seem like they will be a very dangerous team to face!

If i'm being honest I actually see the NFC teams being so much weaker than last year and in fact their really is no elite teams this season. I said that months ago but it has made me a bit optimistic for the pats chances if it's just a toss up of who's the best team. Too many teams in the NFL are good at one thing and bad at the other. NFC west everyone has good D and everyone has meh O.

I'm also very happy to see Caldwell with a shot at the division title after so many people acted like it was a crime against humanity, Rooney Rule this and that, whatever for him to get that head coaching job. He was considered the scrap heap choice after Whisenhunt declined. Look at him now. Go Jim!

I think the Patriots are better than any NFC team. I also think healthy Broncos and Chargers teams could beat anyone in the NFC. I agree, the strength of the NFC is very overrated.

Yeah!  Jim has turned those boys around and got'em ballin' as well.

35-0. This is NOT the old Cowboys. Don't live in the past. This team is prepared and focused, unlike another team we know.

Looks like they're taking out Luck before he gets hurt.

At this point if we're lucky enough to get in, we'll likely face PIT in round 1. Fantastic.

And by no means am I remotely confident that the Ravens can beat the steelers in the playoffs.  Not with how the Ravens have played recently.

Sidenote:  Romo is ballin'.  Man!

Luck threw 109 yards 0 TDs 2 INTs before getting pulled. But lucky for the Colts they are already in the playoffs.

Cowboys 10 minutes away from clinching the East and officially ending Philly's playoff hopes.

Want another reason to not take ESPN seriously? Recall this from the preseason.

35-0 in the 4th Qrtr and now the Weeden throws a TD to make it 42-0.  The Cowboys have absolutely stomped a mud hole in the Colts.  Wow!  Pagano looks like he wants to cry!

The Colts must regret not keeping Arians!

I know everyone wants awesome WRs on the Ravens, but man...look at the Cowboys' oline.  Romo has the cleanest pocket.

He could make meals behind that line.

And some people really think they're not contenders.

Detroit has the only DL in the NFC that can bother them.

well, at least we didnt lose like this right guys?

The Colts are already in the playoffs though, these last games are pretty meaningless for them, they won't be getting a bye anyway.

Can't believe I'm saying this but come on Oakland, just hang on and beat Buffalo. At least show Jim Harbaugh he can be traded to a team who can actually win.

Agreed. The way how Dallas has been playing makes them legit contenders.

Colts will probably beat san diego or cincy in a wildcard matchup

If it's Cincy, yes. SD, no I can't see Indy beating the Chargers. My worry is essentially the Steelers will get the third seed meaning the Ravens would see the Steelers for a third time, and it's in Pittsburgh.

At the very least it looks like the Raiders are removing the possibility of a 10-6 Bills team.

Buffalo is eliminated from playoff contention with a loss today so this will be much needed help.

KC and HOU are still technically in, but neither can jump 9-6-1 CIN (Cincy's worst case scenario) so they're basically out too unless BOTH BAL and SD lose. Unlikely.
