Week 16 - Baltimore Ravens (9-5) at Houston Texans (7-7)

2,480 posts in this topic

We drafted a good one in the sixth - we just don't use him

If you mean Campanaro, then he was a 7th round draft pick.

And the reason we don't play him is because he has a bad hamstring.

Every time we think he's recovered and ready and put him in the game, he makes a few plays, then gets hurt again.

that ill do it.........guess we mathematically have a playoff chance but lets be real....we were borderline healthy and injured the only teams we can handle are in the NFC south

how good will we be next year?......man its hard to say

I believe we play NFCW and AFCW next year

hammys can be chronic at any age, it essentially ended miles davis career

we need a big conversion stud a la boldin a guy like mike evans

flacco needs someone he can bail to because he's never gonna read a defense like brady or manning

Miles Davis, the jazz singer?  :batteur-musicien:

Miles Austin, I'm guessing. :sherlock:

And while Joe can't read defenses as well as Peyton, I don't think his reads were the problem today.

If the o-line can't stop the rush from collapsing the pocket, then the receivers better get open immediately on slants, screens, rubs and picks. Which happen to be the 4 types of plays that our receivers do not execute well with any consistency.

Our receiving corps is the opposite of the Patriots' and Broncos' who excell at those plays.

My thought on that always goes immediately to Marlon...  That's the guy I work to develop.

Anyone still think Ozzie shouldn't have drated a WR in the first 4 rounds this year?

There's always that question whenever we feel there's a need somewhere...  Last offseason we were pleading for defensive secondary players and O-Line players....  WR came in lower on the list...  and Secondary players will be higher on the list again...  but we must have patience...  If you look at Jimmy...  It takes a year or two to develop them.

How the draft unfolded, I do. All the guys Ozzie picked in first four rounds are better players than the WRs available when we were picking.

Ehh I'd love to have kelvin benjamin.. But I'd guess I'd take cj over him since arthur brown is clearly a miss as of right now..

But also jordan Matthews,Allen Robinson, davante adams, martavis bryant,

I'd take CJ over Jordan Matthews (wouldn't have been upset with either, mind), but if I'm being honest I probably would have taken Adams or Robinson in the second over Jernigan - and that was my view pre-draft as well.

There, I said it. Let the pelting begin.

My thought on Matthews we could've traded up in 2nd to snag Matthews...

Comparing his draft spot to CJ's isn't fair

But yea hard to compare who I'd take over CJ.. That's hard to do after one season

Torrey isn't a slot guy and you'd have a really hard time finding a WR stronger than SSS....

Torrey isn't a #1 WR either but with the production he has given in the last couple years, he is either that or a On/Off #2, which is what we have tons of already. And tbh I can name a handful of WRs(Boldin, Marshal, V.Jackson, Evans) that are stronger and show it by producing just as well as Smitty has this season without his speed but for some reason still able to get enough separation to make a difference. Point blank, you can get a speed guy anywhere, we need one that can make a difference consistently and not just vanish from games like has several times this season....

They have a ton of WR talent can you imagine a division rival with our corp?

The Squeelers dont have half the talent the Ravens do but they know basic 2nd grade arithmetic..4-5 WR sets are impossible to man up against and defend in short yardage plays. Look what the fighting Jerry Joneses did against the blitzing Colts yesterday they went 4 wide and begged them to send the house.

See Seahawks, Seattle.

In particular, re-watch the most recent SB, and how a defense can cover a 4 wide look at the short and intermediate levels with tremendous success.

This isn't some new revelation that NFL defenses have never seen before. They've been running 4 wide sets for decades.

They absolutely did... and we've done it a couple of times too...  We put Torrey and Jacoby on the outside with Steve Smith in the slot with Camp, Marlon, or Aiken...   Did it in Tampa and Cremated them.......

Where has that gone?
