I liked how Melvin played. How did Cason do? Or did he get any reps. I'm wondering who should be covering Bryant.

You know what, at the game I was wondering the same thing and I actually couldnt locate cason on the field. Im may have just been missing him but I saw Elam (was wearing white sleeves couldnt miss him) in the slot a lot more than i saw Cason. Maybe someone else can back this up but I didn't really see much of Cason, then again I wasnt looking for him as much

I only heard Melvin's name called once during the broadcast and it was during a great pass breakup on 3rd down that was flagged for DPI. During the replay, it was a very ticky tack call that appeared he was in great position and shouldn't have been called.

You're right. Elam played very well today. I'm really hopeful that the trend continues.

He missed 3 tackles by my count. And who let those roll-out bombs happen ?

Melvin is fantastic in press coverage. Just fantastic. I'm having dreams of Jimmy and Melvin in press outside and Webb at nickel. That sounds beautiful.

Actually think those bombs were on Will Hill. Can't be sure, though, but I know he went after the play action on two of those plays.

I need to watch it closer perhaps but I was at the game and Elam played well from my view. He wasn't some world beater but he certainly played one of if not his best game of the season. I know it's not saying much but you get the idea.

Agreed, only thing I have to say is if he turned to look at the ball rather than gunning for the wide receiver on that one screen he would still be running. Still made a good aggressive play by breaking up the pass but a pick 6 is oh so sweet. In general seemed like he played with a lot of confidence and was put in better position to succeed. It seems the passing rotation is now miles and hill at safety with levine and elam rotating...not sure about cason

He reminds me very much of Cary Williams.

tall and good enough (but just barely so) to play, i'd agree there. He has his moments.

He reminds me of the good part of Williams' game. I don't see him whining or throwing fits. I always liked Williams' talent but not his attitude. I think Melvin could be a solid #2 CB.

He's brought some stability to the position , if you can't see that... You're not watching .

The ultimate season topic was poor play of the secondary.  Finally we have some positive spin.  That crew is vital to our future marching into this game and the one beyond.

Yes, that why I said he is good enough. He's a #3 CB at the least, and that'd good, but no one is gonna mistake him for a star in the making at this point.

Makes you wonder how he went almost an entire season w/out getting an opportunity w/ the Ravens or other teams.

Happens to a lot of players.  Sometimes opportunity is just as important as talent.  Also, some guys play better on the field than practice, but never get meaningful snaps.

Also some teams have no idea what they're doing.

See Tampa Bay for examples

This is true.  That is why I never mind picking up players from mis-managed teams.  Because often they are the worst evaluators.

Melvin is still raw, but I'm glad he's here.  His play has been wild and fiery which is the reason for the penalties.  His spirit was missing back there earlier this season.   If he can be as good as Williams then that is a victory in and of itself.

I'm hoping he can continue his development through this post season and thru next season.  Despite the mistakes, I don't think we make the play-offs without him.

He's played against Blake Bortles, Case keenum, and Connor Shaw. We shall fine his meddle this week.

I agree with all the sentiment about the quarterbacks hes played and obviously better corners make better throws, but shouldn't we look at the wide receivers hes had to cover as well? I'm not really a good tape guy or anything so someone may have to help me out here, but he held up pretty well in jacksonville, and although they have a lot of rookie wide receivers and cecil shorts, their wide receiver core is not a bunch of slouches. Also in Houston wouldnt he have been covering either deandre hopkins or andre johnson? Obviously those are two tremendous wide receiver talents. Also the guy has 17 tackles but I saw a stat somewhere that says hes only given up 4 receptions, so this guy is obviously sticking his nose into more plays than just the ones targeting his receiver. I like the guy, he's brought a fire and excitement to the team, not calling him the next coming and we obviously need to see where he goes from here, but for now he's all we got and I'm more than happy to roll with him versus most of the other guys we've thrown out there this year

His skill set does not match up will with Antonio Brown.  Shifty little guy

Webb will probably be mostly on brown. Melvin on Bryant.

Well said.  There is not many other DBs left at this point that can step up the way he did.

Too early to evaluate his future but I am impressed so far. This week will be a heck of a test for someone of his experience level. Lets hope he can continue having the positive results because I expect he will be tested by Big Ben in the attempt to crack him.
