Barron got something. Elam could as well.

Barron, even with his struggles, is still much better than Elam.

I'd honestly rather have a 7th rounder.

Barron is also 6'1" and was widely considered a top safety.

True. It just stinks to see someone that bad.

He showed potential, but he's absolutely not ready.

@NE, he was targeted 19 times. The result?

15 completions.

224 yards.

2 TDs.

150 QB rating.

All after Gronk dragged him 10 yards downfield...  A shame, he wasn't ready for that.  but Melvin got inducted, and Baptized the other night...  Watched it all again on Rewind...  Brady saw it and exploited him all night long.

He's a restricted free agent now. So do we bring him back? He looks like he has a lot of potential. How much do we offer him?

Honestly, if Jimmy's coming back and Melvins still here do we even need to draft a CB high? Melvin was doing great at #2 until the Patriots game, he'd be a great Nickel guy behind Jimmy and Webb.

jimmy, webb, and melvin would be a great trio

You can never have too many corners and it's no guarantee that The Ravens will be able to re-sign Jimmy and then there;s no telling if Melvin game will improve as well.

I'd almost guarantee we retain Melvin. He showed a lot of promise, and really, his only bad game was against the Patriots. Of course that's not a pardon, but his streak of good games is enough to warrant a second chance. That being said, we can't rely on him to be our third or even fourth corner. I think he has a high ceiling, but he bounced around for a reason, and we can't trust him yet.

Rashaan showed some pretty good moments when he got the opportunity. The last game was a problem, but not just for him. The entire 'mix-and-match' defensive backfield got exposed. That was expected though not accepted. That's the upside. Ithink he can be asset for us in the future. I would love to see him play with more continuity in DB.

I think he could be a surprising find.

Where did you find this information? He's an exclusive rights free agent.

At the cheap price he'll cost to retain, I'm certain he'll return.

Melvin also has an injury history himself. I think we're going to see heavy competition at CB this year and it wouldn't surprise me if Jackson or Jacobs are cut or even Melvin. It won't happen until the final 53 but those guys will certainly have stiff competition.

Melvin should absolutely be resigned. For a 2nd year guy who was undrafted he far exceeded expectations.

He faced some top QBs and top WRs and played very well. At times he was our best DB on the field. Did he get exposed against the Pats? Maybe.

I wouldn't call it him being exposed as a player... Id say more accurately that his lack of experience in the nfl and in our defensive system was exposed. He got burned by arguably the greatest QB of all time, playing in his what 5th game?? In a divisional playoff game? C'mon, especially the guy saying he should be waived... That's a serious over reaction.

For a team looking to replenish depth in the secondary, letting go of a young, talented guy with a high ceiling on the cheap would be a mistake. Given an entire offseason to learn the play book and allowed to play an appropriate role - as a 3rd or 4th cb - he's a great asset. Judging him as a player based on his one poor performance is misguided considering his excellent performance in the previous games. A player in his situation SHOULD have struggled big time. He made way more positive plays than negative.

With Jimmy back, Webb hopefully more healthy, Asa healthy, hopefully a mid-tier vet, a draft pick along with maybe gorrer and Levine and I feel really good about us turning the position into a strength.

Let Levine, gorrer, Jackson, draft pick, FA signing and Melvin battle it out for reps. Melvin as your starter against Brady in the playoffs? Not pretty. But as your 3rd or 4th guy over a season? That's going to be a matchup win for us more times than not.

Still high on this kid. Bring him back and let him earn it.

There's literally no question that we'll be re-signing Melvin back so long as there's no legal trouble (knock on wood).  He's an ERFA meaning he is forced to accept a minimum salary for the year.

Good to have 4 starting caliber Cornerbacks on the team. Will come in handy when we play reciever loaded teams like Indy. Hope he can develop more, he looks like he could come in the full in at #2 if Webb goes down.

I'm very interested in watching Melvin this year. It's amazing how much better guys are when they able to play with confidence. Melvin now knows he can play in the NFL at a high level and he also knows he'll get opportunities with this defense. He has that natural confidence that he plays with. I remember being at the Jags game and Melvin entered the game, then proceeded to make 4 straight plays. Every in my section was like who's that guy. He'll definitely be one of those little-known guys to come from the Ravens defense to make a name for himself.

That was a really surreal moment. Just when were becoming aware of our secondary curse. Here comes another scrub, OR SO WE THOUGHT. Then, then there was hope.

People forget that he played awesome every game except his last one.

Melvin seems like a very limited player. But if he played the slot corner, he might have some value.

I feel like putting him vs #1WR last year was putting him out to dry. That's just me though

Melvin getting an entire off-season and training camp w/ the Ravens will do wonders for his play.

He exceeded every expectation of him last year.  Unfortunately, the ONLY bad game he had

was the one that ended our season.  I honestly feel that Melvin and Arrington will be the two

battling it out for that 3rd CB position.

Melvin is 6'2, he belongs on the outside. and I believe he was against #2s as Webb played the whole season.

I like Melvin and cant wait to see him this year. I just hope its under different cicumstances than last year like just giving the other guys a breather here and there not because of injury.

Not necessarily true.  He might end up being better suited to the slot covering a TE/HB.  I don;t think we can typecast him just yet.  I think he's likely to get a roster spot unless he shows some serious regression (doubtful imo)  we will be carrying 6 CBs - Jimmy Smith, Webb, Arrington, Vaughn, Jackson and Melvin.  IMO Vaughn and Jackson on the bubble with Jacobs who I think will get cut.  Rookie Tray Walker would likely end up on the PS.

I think it's unlikely that you use a fourth round pick on a player knowing that teams wanted him in the early fifth and expect him to make it through waivers.

Agree - I think Asa Jackson will have an uphill climb to save the roster spot.

Harbaugh also said that we almost took him in the 3rd.  No chance we risk losing a guy that we valued that highly.
