Vent and/or talk about the game : Jags

I was driving back from Pittsburgh today because of a wedding this weekend of one of my wife's childhood friends. After being frustrated in bad traffic and weather and listening to fake punt blunders, a Juice fumble, a missed field goal, stupid penalties, Asa Jackson injured.......the straw that broke the camel's back was when Justin Tucker missed that second field goal today........... I ripped my Sirius Satellite radio off my windshield and threw it against my dashboard breaking my radio and cracking my dash. My Steelers wife was not very happy at all, especially since she was switching back for her game's score. It was a real bad day for me. I know we ended up winning, but did anyone out there enjoy watching our game today?

Perspective change after a draft & FA.   Especially if we get 2 receivers.  He has been injured twice so far since draft.  As much as the organization likes him, he might be the poor guy given the door.

That's all based on assumptions though.  There's no saying we draft more than 1 WR.  There's no saying that we draft a WR at all.  Steve Smith could decide to hang up his cleats and retire, although that's unlikely.  Torrey could walk in FA.  Jacoby could be cut.  There are way too many things that could happen to know where a guy stands now.  Regardless of all of that, he's shown enough to stick around.  He's been damn good in his time out there.  We aren't going to give up on a guy after 1 season just because he's been injured, especially with what he's shown on the field so far.

Wrs dropped a lot of balls, I think game would of been different if they would of caught some of them.

I'm not sure if I was more enjoyed or stressed unless they're both the same.

I hope that you are exaggerating.

I can understand that but I really do like what I've seen from Gillmore. I've never been of the mind that you ignore a position just because you have players there. In fact, in my post I never said we're set at TE. I just think his upside could be another Todd Heap, though of course it's too early to say.

With that said, TE class is very weak with no real standout player. I don't think it's as strong as you do and I think it's very reliant on juniors and a sophomore to declare to make it worth anything.

I think there are value TEs that ravens will look into. Some very talented TEs fell of the mark this year due to injuries/mishap. If we grab wr/secondary/oline on 1st/2nd day. I see good values later in the rounds that can legitimately contribute as TE/WR role. Jmo

People are up in arms because we didn't win by 30.

This is what I said on friday...The Jags play hard, and they have lost some close games against good teams..They were neck and neck with Cincy and Pittsburgh as well.

I'm not surprised all that it was a close game.

Joe played well. The defense figured it out in the 2nd half, and seem to be improving..Haloti being gone hurts though. We are giving up unusual rubs right now.

I love the Ravens too dude, but unless you're rich, there's no way I'm messing up my car like you just did.

And, don't forget about the likes of Brooks, Gillmore, Taliaferro, Urschel and even Brett Urban. If any of those players also develop into something, talk about one superb draft, top-to-bottom. This was definitely needed after the lackluster draft of 2013.

The 2013 draft that gave us Brandon Williams, Rick Wagner, and Kyle Juszczyk? I know Elam has been disappointing and we haven't used Brown, yet, but three very solid starters from a draft is nothing to scoff at. Not to mention Marlon Brown as an UDFA from that class.

Mosley, Jernigan and Campanaro will make 2014 Ravens have the best draft of any team period.

But then again.......Camps needs to stay healthy.

yeah the last two drafts have been some of Ozzie's best. Actually, counter to what most say, Ozzie really hasn't had a bad draft yet. he always gets multiple very good starter out of his "bad" drafts.

Not to mention he is the wizard of free agency, getting us Canty, Will Hill,  Jacoby, Daryl Smith, Elvis Dumervil, Zuttah, Steve and Eugene Monroe in just the last couple of seasons.

i saw a lot of open receivers for the hags. they either dropped the ball or bortles ran out of time. bortles made a few really good throws. he may become a good qb.

the ravens are playing thier hearts out but in the end it comes down to talent. asa jackson was playing well and now he is gone. that last man up nonsense only goes so far. there's just nobody left on the back end.

I am not forgetting any of them. At least these 3 have proven by their play that they can be really special. Camps not so much yet, but when he's played he catches everything thrown at him...

Oh yeah for sure. We're definitely in agreement here. I see a lot of TE with potential but I doubt any will make huge impacts immediately.

I like what I see out of Gilmore.

I really like the run blocking ability of this guy and I believe his route running and pass catching can be refined.

Absolutely...  He's a big strong guy...  with decent hands.

It was just a bad day. It is a 182,000 mile 1997 beater and I really lucked out and was able to get the radio working today. I vow to take my meds before my next 7 hour trip. That is a definite promise.

Meh; personally, I still think the 2013 NFL Draft for the Ravens is more of a miss than a hit. While they got Williams, Wagner and Juszczyk, that's only 3 of the 10 picks from that draft. And, while it is easy to overlook the fact that other teams cannot even say they got 3 starters from that draft, the 2013 draft leaves me at odds; some times I say the Ravens misjudged that draft, while, other times, I say I'm glad that Baltimore landed Williams and found a steal in Wagner.

Matt Elam has no on-field intelligence, period. That's a massive downside. While the Ravens were never going to find the "next" Ed Reed in that draft, they couldn't have drafted a more opposite player in Elam. The guy doesn't even know where the football is. And, as for Brown, a player the Ravens traded-up to get it, it is a bummer that he can't get playing time. With C.J. Mosley and Daryl Smith ahead of him on the depth chart, it doesn't look like he will even see the gridiron unless one of those 2 were to get hurt.

Also, the Ravens made no attempt to draft an offensive weapon, either (unless you count Kyle Juszczyk). Plus, John Simon is now a Texan, Ryan Jensen has(/had) a server sleep problem, Aaron Mellette's career is finished and Marc Anthony is currently unemployed. I'm still holding-out hope for Kapron Lewis-Moore, though, if he can recover. I liked that pick and thought he would be a steal in the 6th-round.

Like I said, it was a "lackluster" draft, in my opinion. I never said it sucked or anything like that. Not seeing anything of the first 2 picks, yet, really makes the draft look worse, along with all the players who are no longer with the team. But, you take what you get and the Ravens at least got 2 great starters in Wagner and Williams.

I'm just curious how many solid contributors you were looking for from that draft. We had a lot of picks, and obviously they can't all remain in the rotation on a 53-man roster that just won the Superbowl. If Arthur Brown proves a worthy heir to Daryl Smith's spot and KLM finds himself in the rotation and producing, would that change your mind about the draft? Or is it permanently marred because Elam isn't working out and some of our late round picks aren't on the roster anymore?

I think it was a success because we not only found three starters, but all three have been having Pro Bowl caliber seasons, and they will most likely earn that distinction later in their careers once their names are more well known. That's not just a good draft, that's darn near a home run, especially considering these were our mid-round selections.

Nice to see, that the team is still playing down to the opponents level. Wouldn't want my nerves to relax during a Ravens game. -_- I take the win, but this game really showed how awful the secondary is. If we get to the playoffs, we'll go as far as the offense can take us, because Luck, Peyton and Brady will put up carreer numbers throwing against our D. That Rashaan Melvin, though. ;)

Tom Savage is OUT vs the Ravens.  Case Keenum or Thad Lewis will get the start on Sunday.

I swear if we lose to a QB named Case or Thad, I'm quitting the interwebs.

Agree. To some extent, our 2013 draft class might be one of the Ozzie's best ever, considering the overall quality of that entire class - underwhelming, to put it mildly, far as I can tell. Oh - we also had a pick 32.

This year's draft class had to be one of the best ever - there is so many quality players already making their mark in the NFL. Collinsworth mentioned during SNF yesterday that there are 54 (!!!) UDFAs from this year's draft currently playing in the league. That's crazy.

Yeah, worst I've ever done in a car was swear loudly for an extended period (when the Giants took Odell Beckham in the draft. I'm still pissed at them for that). I try to keep the presence of mind to not wreck anything I might later miss - or else 2013 would have been very expensive.

Saying that, am I the only one who felt pretty lacklustre about this week's game? Usually I start getting nervous a few days before the game, but this time I didn't give it a second thought until the night before. And even when we were trailing, I was just waiting for us to come back and get it done. So basically it felt like the Bucs game, without the highs of watching Joe shred them.

Could have been worse - imagine Giants did not pick him up and he was still on the board after Ozzie's selection...
